Disclaimer: I do not own Inuyasha, but I do own Makoto and Kisara.

"And what herb is this?" Kagome asked her daughter, as she walked with her, holding Kisara's hand.

"That is to…um, help with the sickness, like stomach pains and to sooth the pain, right?" Kisara asked, unsure whether her question was right or not. Kagome smiled softly,"Yes it is, that is correct, good job sweetie."

Kisara beamed up at her mother and her eyes darted to the herbs that were in her mother's basket, currently held in her left hand. "You are getting better at this," the Inu-pup heard her mother comment.

Kisara thought about it and then slowly nodded to herself. "I am aren't I? I think I would be able to help you now, can I mama?" Kisara had asked. "Yes, you would," her mother retorted, gripping tighter to her hand.

The two walked onwards and stopped just before leaving the clearing, where their hut was located, and about to go into the forest.

"Makoto," Kagome called her son as she and Kisara were standing under a tree that provided an abundance of shade from the sun. She called her son's name once more to get his attention.

Kagome noticed a blur of silver and red in the leaves, she lifted her hand to cover her eyes from the rays of the sun. She noted a figure watching her inattentively, and she smiled when her son had answered back to her and landed feet away.

"We will be going to the village, and since your father has gone out with Miroku-sama, I can't leave you alone by yourself," Kagome informed him.

"Haha-ue, I'm a big boy, I have claws for nails and dog ears for - well - ears. I can take care of myself," Makoto stated, crossing his arms alike his father. Kagome sighed, closing her eyes for a pair of seconds, then opening them.

"Makoto…I know you are six now, but you are coming with me, whether you like it or not," Kagome told him strictly, even crossing her arms to tell the boy that the decision was final. Makoto, knowing that he stood no chance against his mother - or disrespecting her, and not wanting his father to yell at him - nodded his head in agreement.

Kisara has been bobbing her head the whole time her mother had been lecturing her brother. A smile crept on her lips and she tapped her fingers together during it as well. The five year old girl had grown only just a little, just an inch or two shorter than her brother and now with longer hair.

Kisara had her hair held up in a ponytail like she had done when she spent some time speaking with her uncle. When her oji-sama left, right after she passed out from the smell of the floor, she found herself in her mother's arms.

She was aware that her oji-sama wasn't around because she smelt his scent leave the forest before she can even lift a finger. The most startling news that she was told of was when she was sitting with her mother, waiting for her father and brother to return from Totosai-san's.

It was only yesterday and the smile that never faded from her face had stayed. Her oji-sama did like the fact that she and her brother were half demons, in fact, it made her think that because of them he may have turned soft.

Although her father disagreed with her and called him a few names when she had told him. There were a few words that he had said that made her ask her mother what they were and when she did, let's just say that her father ate dirt more than one but less than four times.

"I heard that there is a new family moving in the village, like Kaede-obaa-chan has always said, we should greet them, right haha-ue?" Kisara said, looking up at her mother as they walked past the trees and down the path to Kaede's village. It wasn't a long walk from their home to the high priestess's hut.

"Yes we should." Kagome said, smiling at her daughter as the three of them now came into line's view of where Kaede lived.

"But what if they don't…like us?" Kisara wondered in worry and Kagome shook her head. "How can they not like you if they don't know you."

Kisara smiled brightly once more and giggled as she looked up at the sky to see the birds flying by and chirping above them.

Makoto pouted and stuck his arms in the loose ends of his robe of the fire rat, placing a bored expression on his face. If there was a demon attack on the village, just a low demon, he'd have a reason to use his sword.

It was true that it isn't powerful as it would be in the future, but when he'd use it to fight a low leveled demon, he can place his own energy whether it be demonic or spiritual, either way the attack it'll unleash was powerful. Well, from his eyes anyway.

"Good morning Kagome-sama," Rin greeted them as they neared Kaede's hut. Kagome smiled at the teen and greeted her with a 'good morning' in return.

"Kaede-sama went ahead, and I'm sure you're going to say hello to the family like I was," Rin said. Her brown eyes went to Kisara and Makoto and she greeted them when they smiled up at her.

"Kaede-sama, are you sure it is okay for you to harbor half demons in the village? The villagers don't have a problem with half demons here?" a woman asked, her eyes glancing over to the people who arrived.

Kaede arched a brow, noticing the woman watching Kagome and her family. "Is there a problem with ye not liking the fact that we let half demons stay in this village?"

The woman tensed up and shook her head furiously," N-No. W-well, it is just that…"

"Mother?" a new voice piped up and both woman and elder miko turned to see a girl with light brown hair and silver eyes blinking in curiosity. The woman smiled at Kaede,"I was wondering because my child is a half demon as well. I was hoping that one day, there would be a place for the both of us."

Kaede rested her one good eye at the child who shifted uneasily from one foot to the other and smiled when the child slowly walked up to stand next to her mother.

"Ye not worry what the villagers say, our village is protected by the young hanyō children's father. The villagers are glad, even if it may not seem, that the protector that stays here is a half demon. The priestess ye see there is the mother of the children. Ye are most welcome here."

The girl by the woman's side turned around to look at the children the elder high priestess motioned towards and she smiled when one of them looked her way.

Standing next to their mother, Kisara counted at the amount of time she has been standing and her ears twitched to hear Kaede-obaa-chan's words. "Onii-chan, she's a half demon too," Kisara smiled, but she stared at her brother and elbowed him on his shoulder.

Makoto nodded and looked at the girl and her mother, they were the people that were new to the village and he stiffened when the girl looked his way and smiled.

Author's Note

Well, sadly this isn't another chapter with Sesshoumaru in it, but there will be some more sooner or later. I drew a scene from the last chapter and it's posted on my deviant art page.
