[A/N: This chapter was pretty easy to write once I figured out what I was going to do. The one character I was a little hesitant about writing was Doc since I wasn't sure if I could get his stutter down. Not much else to say about this chapter. Reviews are appreciated. Enjoy the chapter!]
When they landed in the new world Clementine was the first to notice that there was a dark sloping tunnel leading further into a mountain. She had to crouch down to peer into the tunnel and tapped Juliet on the shoulder. "What do you think is in there?"
"I think the more important question is where are we?" She pulled the map out an unfolded it. "If I'm tracing our route correctly looks like we're in the Dwarf Woodlands." She suddenly smiled. "That means one of the seven pure lights is here." Juliet put the map away and joined Clementine to peer into the entrance of the mine. "I don't think they'd be here, but let's look anyway. Maybe we can find someone who will point us in the right direction."
The inside of the tunnel was quiet dark with the exception of a few lit lanterns hanging off pegs sticking out of the walls. Once they were a little further inside the tunnel it opened up into a mine with several bright jewels glittering in its walls. There was a small flight of steps leading up to another cave that led deeper into the mine.
Juliet started to walk up the steps when she heard a loud voice coming from further inside.
"Heigh ho."
She took a step back since she didn't know exactly who was talking. There was the sound of foot steps coming from out of the mine as the voice drew closer.
Coming out of the mine was a line of seven dwarves all with a pick axe over their shoulder. The leader a slightly dumpy dwarf wearing glasses with a short white beard stopped in his tracks when he saw Juliet causing the rest of the dwarves to bump into him knocking him down. The dwarf had to push the rest of them off of him before standing up to brush dirt from his shirt and beard. Before the dwarf was able to say anything another one pulled himself away from the rest and pointed an accusing finger at Juliet.
The dwarf who spoke up was wearing a red shirt like the one with glasses, but he looked quite a bit grumpier. "What are thieves like you doing in our mines?"
"We're not thieves." Akio had, had to get past Clementine so the dwarf could see him. "We're looking for someone actually."
The grumpy looking dwarf didn't look like he was at all interested in what they had to say. "Well you're not going to find anyone down here so why don't you get out of here?"
"Now hold on Grumpy. Maybe the young mady…lady isn't from around here." This time the dwarf with the glasses had spoken up.
Grumpy only huffed and crossed his arms over his chest.
The lead dwarf turned back to Juliet and had a more pleasant look on his face. "What is it exactly that you're looking for?"
"One of the seven pure lights. Apparently one of them is in this world."
The dwarf looked confused when he heard this. "I can't say I've heard of anything like that, but maybe you could find what you're looking for in the mastle er castle."
"Ok, what direction is the castle in?"
"Back the way you came." Grumpy still had his arms crossed over his chest.
"Oh…ok…thanks." Juliet turned around and started to walk off when she heard the lead dwarf call out to her.
"If you are going to go to the castle you'll want to watch out for the Queen."
Juliet stopped and turned around. "Who's the Queen?"
"She's an old witch full of black magic." The speaker was a rather fat dwarf who had previously had a jovial look on his face.
"Well we'll watch out for her."
When they got down the side of the mountain they came into a clearing where a little house sat by itself.
"Looks like this is where the dwarves live." Juliet walked over to the house and peered in through the windows. "It looks absolutely filthy. I wonder when the last time they cleaned was?"
Clementine wasn't looking at the house and looked a bit more interested in the dark forest that lay in front of them. "Looks like all kinds of things could be lurking in that forest. Do you think there's a way around it?"
"Doesn't look like it." Juliet had joined Clementine and Akio who were both staring at the forest; Clementine had a look of apprehension on her face.
"I really don't want to go in there." Clementine was looking back at the dwarf's cottage. "Do you think the dwarves would let us stay at their house until there was some light the forest?"
"I don't think Grumpy would stand for it." Akio didn't look like he was afraid at all. "We're not going to find anything if we continue to stand here. Why don't we just go through and get this over with?"
Juliet didn't need to be told again and started to walk into the forest with Akio close behind while Clementine trailed behind. "There's no reason to be afraid Clementine. We've hardly seen any wraiths for the longest time so I don't think there's any in this forest."
"Says you."
As they entered the forest Clementine gulped and looked around only seeing trees snarling down at her. She noticed that Juliet and Akio were getting ahead of her and quickly scurried after them. "Slow down don't leave me behind." Clementine nearly tripped over an upturned root and as she was falling a branch from the tree got caught on her shirt. She shrieked and pulled hard on her shirt nearly falling over again when she freed herself.
Juliet had to push aside several branches to avoid getting her clothes caught on them when she saw a light coming from within the thick undergrowth. "Doesn't look like it's too much further."
Once they were out of the forest they were in a small field that was littered with wild flowers; a small creek with a stone bridge over it leading towards a magnificent castle that was off in the distance.
Clementine looked like she was quiet glad to get out of the forest when she caught sight of the castle. "Do you think that's the castle the Queen the dwarves was telling us about lives?"
"There's only one way to find out." Juliet walked across the bridge towards the castle that was still some distance away.
Since they were hurrying it didn't take too long to get to the castle. Sitting on the steps outside the castle was a young pale faced girl with short curly black hair wearing rags in her hand was a rag and next to her was a bucket full of soapy water.
Juliet walked as quietly as she could over to the girl hoping that she wouldn't startle her when she felt warmth in her chest. She must be one of them. The dwarves did point us in the right direction.
The girl got up to walk over to a well when she saw Juliet and dropped her bucket and rag.
"Don't run away I just want to ask you something."
She only continued to back away. "What do you want?"
"I just want to know your name."
"Snow White." Snow White still looked a bit fretful and had her gaze fixed on Akio like she'd never seen anything like him before. "Are you a Prince?"
Akio frowned in confusion. "Am I Prince? No, I'm not. Why do you ask?"
Snow White looked a bit disappointed. "Oh, that's too bad I was hoping you'd take me away from this place. I've been waiting for my Prince for so long." She had a dreamy look on her face and walked over to the well to look into it.
Juliet followed Snow White over to the well when she heard a rumbling coming from within the castle. "What's making that noise?"
Snow White had the look of apprehension on her face again. "I think it's a monster of some kind."
"Do you know where it came from?"
"No, and the Queen refuses to speak of it. To be honest it kind of scares me. I can hear it making all kinds of noise while I'm trying to sleep."
"I think I know what could be making the noises. Its probably one of the monsters we've come across. We can probably get rid of it for you."
The nervous look on Snow White's face turned into a pleasant smile. "Oh would you? That would be fantastic."
"Do you know where in the castle it is?"
Snow White was quiet for a moment while she thought. "I think it's in the basement somewhere."
Juliet started to walk towards a door that led into the castle. "Well let's go look for this wraith." She turned to Snow White. "You stay here. We'll be back shortly."
The inside of the castle was dank and dark with sewer water that ran along the floor. There were several elevated platforms that were out of reach. As they continued to walk through the basement of the castle Akio tapped Juliet on the shoulder.
"So is Snow White one of the seven lights?"
"She is which means there's three left." Her foot sank into the sewer water causing her to grimace at the unpleasant damp feeling.
There was another rumbling sound coming from deeper in the basement.
"Sounds like the wraith is getting closer."
As they got deeper into the basement Clementine saw that there was a gear fixed to the stone floor not far from a gated off. "It looks like if someone uses that gear we can get the gate open. Akio, why don't you do it?"
"Why me?"
"Isn't it obvious? You're the strongest out of the three of us."
Akio was grumbling as he walked over to the gear and began to turn it. There was a creaking sound from the gate as it elevated. However, as soon as Akio stopped turning the gear the gate started to close again. He pulled the gear back as far as it would go before he let go and quickly darted under the gate.
The lower half of the basement was one massive room with a large elevated platform in the middle. If you looked closely you would have seen a hooded figure standing in the middle of the platform.
Juliet took a step forward when she was nearly smacked in the head by an apple that came sailing from the platform. She looked down to see a bright red apple at her feet before it dissolved in a mass of purple liquid. "That's interesting." She had to duck again when another apple came flying towards her.
This time Akio knocked it away with his disk sending it back in the direction it had come from.
Not to be deterred the figure chucked another apple.
Juliet glanced over at Akio and Clementine. "I'm going to try and get over there. You two keep distracting it." She followed a set of steps down to the floor of the basement, but wasn't seeing a way on how to get up to the platform that the figure was on.
There was a stove with a spout coming out of the top at the base of the platform that was full of water. I know fire magic. I could probably get the water to boil then could use the steam to jump up onto the platform. She looked up to make sure that the figure was still distracted with Akio and Clementine before she cast a fire spell on the water causing it to start boiling. Steam erupted from the pipe at the top.
A bit less gracefully then what she could usually do Juliet jumped up onto the steam and was propelled upwards onto the platform. However, the steam wasn't quite enough for her to get up all the way and she had to grab onto the lip of the platform to avoid falling back down. As she pulled herself up Juliet saw that the figure at its back turned to her. Good a sneak attack would probably be best.
As soon as these thoughts left her head the figure turned around. It pulled its hood down revealing a skeletal face with gaunt staring eyes. It produced another apple and threw it at her. When the apple missed its target the thing howled and threw another one.
Juliet dodged the apple before throwing the Keyblade at its head. Since she had good aim the Keyblade was successful in cutting off the Poison Dream's head.
The head rolled over to Juliet's feet. She waved over at Akio and Clementine before looking for a way to get down. There was a small stream of sewer water that looked like it would soften the blow. Cautiously she swung her legs over the side of the platform before jumping down. She landed in the water a bit harder then she expected and felt her legs start to shake as she got up again. "Well that wasn't terribly hard."
Once they were back outside the castle there was no sign of Snow White, but disappearing off into the distance was a young man on a white horse.
