"Do not underestimate her, the miko is a strong one, or so I've heard. Wait until the wolf demons leave. Do not hurt them. Here, I think you may need this. You know what to do." Inukimi had said.

Daiki, the most trusted vassal of InuKimi, lingered in the forest grounds as he patiently. When the wolf demons were with the miko and her pups, he couldn't attack even after they left, the wolf with black hair had warned the miko over sensing that he was there.

Although he was stubborn and did not heed his lady's words, effectively hurt by the barrier she had produced when the wolf demons went off to their territory.

Now, he waited in the clearing of the forest, watching the miko sit on the porch of the hut. Her youngest pup was running around in circles chasing a butterfly. He scowled, thinking how such a half demon and a miko could produce a being with such power.

Daiki looked at the small bag that consisted of a powder and he smirked,"It is almost time."

His golden eyes focused on the miko who glanced around with an alarmed look, but relaxed when she noticed her eldest pup sitting on the roof of the hut.

"Do not return here, might as well go to the council, perhaps they'll know what to do." His lady told him.

"Inuyasha, when are you coming back home, can it be today, or tomorrow?" Kagome wondered, settled down on the grass at the small clouds that formed shapes. Her daughter tired of spinning in circles and smiled at her.

Kisara comfortable sat at the base of the porch and she shifted a little to the side to rub her mother's bulging stomach. "Mama, I wonder if my little brother or sister misses Chichi-ue as much as us."

Kagome lowered her head to kiss the crown of her daughter's head,"I think so, he or she may miss his voice, your sibling has been kicking a lot lately."

Turning her head to the side in confusion, Kisara blinked at her mother,"Kicking your belly? The baby isn't hurting you is he?"

Kagome shook her head, reassuring the child and then paused,"He? Do you think the baby is a he?"

Kisara smiled broadly, placing her small hand on her mother's stomach, nodding at her question,"Since the baby is strong and kicks so hard, it must be strong like Chichi-ue and Onii-chan, so it must be a boy."

Kagome let out a small laugh and nodded,"Hm…I guess so. But, don't you want a little sister?" Kagome began to play with her daughter's hair, fixing it into a low ponytail with a white ribbon.

The young Inu-pup closed her eyes, sighing happily at the soft touch that made her want to sleep, due to her mother running her fingers through her silky hair. Kisara pressed a finger to her lips, having the question in mind, and nodded her head away. "I would like a sister too, but I think Onii-chan would want a baby brother, not a little sister."

Makoto looked down at his mother and little sister, lips curved into a frown, he jumped off to land in front of the two.

Arms crossed in a serious demeanor, Makoto stared at Kisara with an arched brow,"Who says I don't want a little sister? I don't care if the baby is a boy or girl." Kagome smiled at her son and patted her daughter on her shoulder lightly.

The Inu-pup indicated that her mother was going to get up and she moved out of the way to let her mother stand.

Kagome smoothed her floral hakama down with her hands, then looked at her children,"Why don't I take you somewhere to tell you a story." Kagome looked around to see her bow and quiver of arrows placed upright near the shoji door.

Makoto quickly grabbed his mother's weapon and took his as well, just in case. Kisara held her mother's hand as they all walked toward the Goshinboku.

Daiki took a step back when the miko and her pups were walking near the area he settled in. Growling in irritation, he knew that he had to act quickly.

"This is where I met your father, he was pinned to this tree," he had heard the miko say, quite lovingly that made him sick to his stomach. He never understood humans, nor did he understand why the Inu no Taisho or his sons had a merciful heart to the humans.

It disgusted him to think that Lord Sesshoumaru, the son of his lady, had let a human child to travel with him. And even letting a human woman, a miko, into the family.

"Lord Sesshoumaru had made a mistake," Daiki had muttered under his breath. Although when he had let the words slip out of his mouth, a pair of dog ears twitched and swiveled to hear his voice.

Makoto sat by the bole of the great tree that seemed magnificent to his eyes, he heard his mother speaking of the time she came from, astounded that she arrived from another world. His sister was even more fascinated with the story as he was. But he didn't pay all his attention toward his mother's tale, rather the distant voice of a demon.

He closed his eyes to determine where the demon was, since being the man - well only boy - in his family, he had a duty to protect his mother and sister. His sword was tied onto his obi and he quickly unsheathed the sword and throwing it too quick for the eye to see.

One minute he thought his cover was blown, but he soon relaxed that he noticed the boy stay still. Daiki smirked only a little, until a flash of silver headed his way, hastily the dog demon pivoted to the side.

When he turned, his hair that whipped in front of him, was cut by the sword the pup had thrown. Daiki's eyes contracted, startled that the boy had done such an attack, and he didn't even perceive to happen.

"Makoto," Kagome said, seeing her son get up and growl furiously when the demon emerged from the trees. Kisara gripped on tightly to her mother's hakama, her oceanic blue eyes staring at the demon.

"Onii-chan," Kisara whispered. Her eyes then narrowed suspiciously at the demon, in who appeared to be wearing royal garments and was a dog demon by the symbol on his forehead, similar to her Uncle's.

Kagome placed a hand on her daughter's shoulder, motioning the girl to stand behind her, and then trotted to her son. "I'll handle this, go to your sister."

Makoto stared up worriedly, and for the first time, he disobeyed his mother,"No, I will not."

Daiki noticed the miko tense at the boy's words, usually pups at his age would listen to their mother, it proved that the boy was stubborn. Like father like son.

"Makoto, leave now, go seek Kaede. I will be fine. Nothing will happen, just get out of here, for me." Kagome placed her hand, her eyes locked on the dog demon who took a step forward.

Tiny fangs bared at the demon who dared to take a step near them, Makoto nonetheless obliged, walking backwards to his frighten sister.

Kagome watched from her peripheral vision that her children were a long distance from the dog demon that stood near her.

Raising her bow in order to protect her children, Kagome eyed the dog demon as he walked slowly toward her with a smug face. "Foolish woman, you think you have a chance, well consider this as something to ease your worries."

Kagome was taken aback when he spoke those words, but held a fierce grip on her bow as soon as he threw a small pouch on the ground. Using the long sleeves of her kosode, Kagome covered half of her face, her eyes dashing to detect where the demon was.

What is this? She thought, panicking over the fact that her vision was starting to blur. My spiritual powers are not working…the baby…

Daiki smirked in success and moved towards the fallen miko when the mist that was caused by the powder InuKimi had given him, had cleared and gazed over to see two figures near a well.

Kisara held her brother's sleeve, crying in worry for their mother, wondering why she hasn't appeared yet. Makoto balled a fist and extended his right hand outward, it was a good thing that he held his sword's sheath, calling his sword back to him and it zipped passed the dog demon.

A scratch and a thin line of blood appeared when the point of the sword had passed by his face, Daiki's shoulders arched, signaling the start of his true form.

"What are we going to do! Haha-ue must be hurt, we must help!" Kisara shouted, moving around her brother, but he didn't let her go anywhere.

"Haha-ue will be all right, she said so, and as for you," Makoto noticed the well behind him and then turned his gaze to Kisara,"Go in there." The girl gave him a horrified look and quickly disagreed with his command.

"Just go down there!" Makoto hissed at his sister, ruffly pushing her shoulder in the direction of the well, eyes flicking over to the figure that bounded out from the trees. Kisara jumped in fright when she noticed the dog demon emerge from the trees, in his true form, and growling with saliva dripping down from the corner of its mouth.

Uncertain over the fact that she was told by her brother to hide in the dried up well, filled with bones of long dead demons, she complied. If her brother told her to hide, she'd listen to what he'd tell her, for it was for her protection.

Swallowing the lump that had formed in her throat, due to fear and uncertainty, Kisara slowly climbed down the vines, until she was called back up again. Now that he had no worries over his little sister holding him back, Makoto held his sword in his hand, growling lowly at the dog demon.

Only growls and roars were heard, and the villagers were starting to worry for the safety of the miko. "Kagome-chan," Harumi whispered, holding her basket of clothing with Naoko standing next to her.

"Mother. Something is wrong," Naoko announced, eyes closed as she could feel the tension in the air, an image of a large dog and the silhouette of a child appeared in her mind. Being the daughter of a general that control some part of nature, Naoko was vaguely able to see what was occurring.

Makoto gaped when the paw of the dog demon was hovering over him, thinking promptly, Makoto jumped into the well. Kisara screamed when she noticed her brother going pass her, but he dug his sword into the rocks in the well, letting him dangle, as he gripped onto the handle.

The dog demon roared, using the same paw to try and smash the well, but just as he was about to touch it, a spark sent him back.

Makoto and Kisara closed their eyes shut when a jolt of electricity went through them and both tumbled down into the well, but never meeting the ground.

Daiki transformed into his humanoid form and scowled when he noticed the well empty. "Well, it wasn't them I was after." He turned around to retrieve the person he was sent after.
