[A/N: Short chapter I know, but the last one will be longer, promise. This chapter was mostly supposed to introduce Sora and Riku sense they are so important to the Kingdom Hearts series and it seemed a shame to leave them out. Is the Papou fruit foreshadowing something? I'll leave that up to your imagination, but all shall be revealed next chapter. Reviews are appreciated. Enjoy the chapter!]
The world that they'd landed in consisted of a long beach with a bright blue ocean. According to the map they were in the Destiny Islands.
Clementine imminently jumped into the water and began swimming around. "This almost reminds me of Atlantica with how warm it is. This is much better then swimming in Port Royal."
Akio lay down in the sand while Juliet stood there. "What are you waiting for Juliet? Doom? Let's just enjoy this place now that we've landed here."
"But what about looking for Erik?"
"We'll look for Erik later. Let's just relax for a while. We haven't had any down time since Disney Town."
Juliet turned and looked back at the rest of the island to see an elevated platform off in the distance, a cave, a waterfall, an elevated house, and another door that led off to the rest of the island. "You guys can relax I'm going to go look around."
Both the elevated platform and house didn't have anything in it, but the waterfall reminded her how thirsty she was. Oddly enough the water was clear and sweet prompting her to take several mouthfuls before she turned her attention to the cave. Juliet crouched down in front of it to see if she was small enough to squeeze through. It looked like she was so with a bit of maneuvering she was able to crawl through.
The inside of the cave was surprisingly well lit. At the back of the cave was a door, but there wasn't a keyhole or a knob.
Juliet walked to the back of the cave and ran her hand along the door's cool wooden surface. "Strange…..I wonder what a door would be doing in a cave?"
Behind her was the dog from the Bear Kingdom. It was sitting on its haunches staring at her intently with its oddly intelligent eyes. The dog quietly padded up behind her and sniffed her leg before nipping at her.
She turned around in time to see the dog trotting off towards the mouth of the cave. "Where are you going? Come back, wraith."
The dog stopped and growled under its breath. Apparently it didn't like being called wraith. However, it was able to calm itself quickly and continued to walk through the cave.
Since Juliet was a bit big for the small opening she had to squirm through and when she got out again there was no sign of the dog. "That is so strange how can that dog just move around so freely? I should have asked Master Eraqus if he'd seen it too." She looked around the island to see a bridge near the waterfall that led to a spit of land with a hanging palm tree on it.
As she walked over the bridge she saw Akio still lounging in the sand while Clementine swam around. I shouldn't bother them. They could probably use the down time, but I need to find that dog. She sat down on the palm tree that was hanging over the water and heard splashing beneath her.
"What are you doing up there, Juliet?" Clementine had swum over to the shallower water near the island.
"Oh, just thinking that's all."
"What about?"
"Things…..it's nothing important."
"Then why do you look so down?"
"I might as well tell you. I saw that dog from the Bear Kingdom again."
"It was here?"
Juliet pointed over at the cave. "It was in that cave, but it disappeared before I could grab it."
Clementine pulled herself up to the shore and changed her tail back into legs. "Then we need to go look for it. I'll go get Akio and we'll go look in the cave again."
Juliet had to give some credit to Clementine. When she was serious about something she'd go all out. "Not to be rude or anything Clementine, but I don't think you'll be able to get into the cave. The hole is kinda small."
"Then we'll send Akio in. He is the thinnest."
Once the three of them were standing outside the cave again Akio looked back at Juliet. "And you're sure the dog was in here?"
"Yes, positive."
"All right, might as well take a peek." It didn't take as much maneuvering for Akio to get into the cave, but when he got inside there was no sign of the dog. He walked over to the door and was just as confused as Juliet had been over its placement. "The only thing I see in here is a bunch of rocks and a door."
Clementine raised her eyebrow. "A door? What's a door doing in a cave?"
"I don't know. I was wondering that same thing myself when I was in there." Juliet could hear feet running through the sand and looked back to see two boys chasing each other. "I guess those boys live here."
One of the boys who looked about three with brown hair wearing a white shirt and red shorts looked over at Juliet and waved enthusiastically at her before running right up to her. "Hi."
"Hi…."
"I'm Sora. Who are you?"
"I'm Juliet."
Sora looked over at Clementine and pointed up at her. "Who are you?"
"It's rude to point, Sora." The other boy had white hair and was wearing a yellow shirt with blue pants.
"I'm Clementine. Who's your friend, Sora?"
"That's Riku. He's my best friend."
By this time Akio had gotten back out of the cave. "Well, I didn't find the dog, but I would like to know what that door is doing there."
It looked like Riku knew what they were talking about. "I saw a dog on the other side of the island. We were just there."
Juliet leaned down a bit so she could look him in the eye. "Could you show us?"
"Yeah, the door is right over here." Riku had to stretch his arm to reach for the handle and pushed the door open.
On the other side there was more beach and more trees. Juliet walked past Riku with Sora following close behind her and scanned over the beach, didn't see the dog.
"Where are you from, Juliet?"
She looked down at Sora who was smiling up at her. "I'm from Traverse Town. It's a long ways away from here."
Sora was nearly bouncing on his heels when he heard this. "I knew it I knew Riku was right."
"Right about what?"
"About there being other worlds. And we're going to see them all."
"You're going to see them all are you? Well good luck with that. You'll need something to help you get around."
"We're going to build a raft." Riku had his arms crossed over his chest.
"I think you'll need something a bit sturdier then a raft."
"Like what?"
"Like this." Juliet summoned her Keyblade and hopped onto it. "This is what we've been using to get around." From the corner of her eye she saw the dog trotting down the beach and quickly jumped off again. "There's the dog. I'm going to catch it this time." She was nearly sprinting across the wooden bridge and jumped over the slight incline that was in the way.
The dog waited patiently for her not taking its eyes off her.
Once Juliet had caught up with the dog she gave it a hard look. "All right wraith spill it what's different about you?"
The dog only narrowed its eyes at her before turning and jumping onto a small hedge that led up to a large tree with a star on it.
Juliet followed after the dog until they got up to the tree. "There's no use running I know there's something different about you and I'm going to find out what it is."
The dog barked once before walking up into an opening behind the tree.
Juliet followed after the dog, but only found herself back on the other side of the Destiny Islands. "Where does it keep going? It couldn't have just jumped down its too high." She crawled back through the hole and walked across the tree tops before walking back over the bridge to rejoin the rest of the group.
"So did you catch it?" Akio could guess from her facial expression that she hadn't.
"No, it disappeared again. You know as nice as this island is I think we need to continue on our way."
Clementine let out a great sigh. "But this place is like paradise why do we have to leave so soon?"
"We can always come back later. Now that we've found the seven pure lights I'm sure we'll have all the time in the world to relax or explore more worlds or do whatever we want to do."
This had caught Riku's attention. "What do you mean by lights?"
"Nothing….nothing at all." Juliet summoned her glider again and jumped onto it. "Are you guys coming?"
Thinking this meant him too Sora went to climb on when Juliet gently pushed him back. "But I want to go too."
"Sorry Sora, but you're too little. Maybe next time you can come."
"Are you ever going to come back?"
"I suspect we'll come back eventually."
"Wait, I have a present for you." Sora dashed off through the door. He came back a few minutes later holding an orange star shaped fruit. "This is called Papou fruit. If you share it with someone special you'll bound to them forever."
Juliet took the Papou fruit and tore off two large chunks which she handed to Akio and Clementine. "You know just to be on the safe side in case we get separated."
