"Naoko-chan, would you like some stew?" Kagome asked, quite quietly if she could it recall herself.

Even if at least three months had passed since the panther demon tribe had made itself known and Nishiyo had made them go beyond the mountain, forced back away from the Western Lands, life was difficult for all of them.

It was the middle of summer, the sun blazed above high in the sky, the birds flew everywhere. To sum it all up, demons were now in search for mates as other demons were in search of new areas to claim. Inuyasha, who was a little troubled in various occasions, had let his son deal with the lower level demons that wandered into the village. He knew that Makoto could hold is own in dealing with minor yokai.

A few lower level oni demons had walked into the village once, when Inuyasha and Miroku were to deal with rouge demons in the next village which wasn't that far, only a half a day's walk. Now, Inuyasha had informed that he would not be leaving his wife's side, for she would be birthing soon enough.

It had worried him on end, Kagome had a few false alarms that month when she thought that the new arrival of their family would soon arrive.

"Thank you, Kagome-sama," Naoko said, gratefully taking the bowl that was handed to her and placed it on her lap as she sat outside watching the very few clouds go by. A cloud above covered the sun only briefly and Naoko looked at the sky sadly, Hahaue, I miss you so much. A few tears clouded her eyes and she brought the wooden spoon to her mouth and began to eat her stew.

Kagome stared at the young child and crouched down to wipe her tears away slowly,"Sometimes, it is good to cry. Naoko, you're not alone, we are all here for you." Naoko gazed at her and nodded. "Thank you."

Kisara sat a few feet away, holding a small little doll her aunt had given her just a month prior and the one that was give to Naoko as well. She held it so that the flower hanyō could be able to eat.

Kagome smiled at the young girl, patting her hands on her red hakama as she placed her hand over her forehead to shield her eyes from the sun. Her husband was out in the village speaking with the high priestess, Kaede. Rin had often visited her home in the last week when she was reminded by Kaede that it was nearly Kagome's time to give birth during this month.

Makoto stood perched in a tree ever since the morning meal, Kagome's brows lowered in worry for her son. He had once asked her if it was his fault that Naoko's mother had passed. She disagreed with his words as soon as they left his mouth, and only blamed the panther demons who had attacked Harumi and her daughter.

It wasn't long until they were informed that it was no other than Sesshoumaru's mother herself that had planned the attack to kill her and her children, enraging Inuyasha to insanity, nearly loosing him to his demon blood.

Inuyasha had spoken of the daiyōkai who was responsible for everything that had happened and she was made out to be a cold yet kind demoness when he had encountered her last. However with the newly found information, Inuyasha wanted to get rid of the demoness, which had caused Sesshoumaru himself to go frantic.

Both brothers were fighting each other in the fields that was until they were separated by their aunt and uncle, whom arrived just in time to save Inuyasha from a blow to the head.

"Hahaue, will you be having the pup soon, I want to meet him or her," Kisara spoke, placing the two dolls on the wooden veranda of the hut. Her baby blue eyes looked up at her mother as she pouted. Truly, even after the harsh months facing the demons, including the panther demons, it didn't falter her wait in wondering if she were to have a brother or sister.

Kagome ran her hand in her daughter's hair, then her eyes softened as her daughter made small sound of happiness when she rubbed her small ear.

"I know you are excited for the new pup, but you have to wait a little longer sweetheart," Kagome said softly. Kisara nodded in agreement,"Okay mama." Kagome smiled at her daughter who seemed to be in a moment of peace. When all of a sudden she felt her back start to ache, the air was sucked out of her and Kagome closed her eyes shut.

Kisara noticed her mother tense and when she opened her eyes, she noticed the look of pain on her mother's face. "H-Hahaue?" Kisara asked worriedly. Naoko looked at Kagome with her head tilted to the side, the girl was lost in her memories of her mother, a few stray tears fell down her cheeks, but she quickly settled the bowl she had in her hand onto the veranda.

"Kagome-sama," Naoko held onto the miko's long sleeve of her kosode, one small hand placed on Kagome's back. Her gray eyes half-lidded, worried for the miko and the baby. "Kagome-sama?"

Ears flicked at the concern laced in the girl's voice, Makoto had his arms crossed behind his head, and tilted his head to the side to glance at his mother to find her clutching her stomach. Feeling nearly vulnerable, Makoto jumped down from his perch and hastily ran to his mother's side.

"Hahaue!" Makoto shouted, reaching out to hold his mother's hand, his ears drooped when she groaned in pain. "M-Makoto, p-please…go get Kaede-obaachan a-and your chichiue," Kagome stuttered. She knew that demonic labors were much faster, including intense, than normal.

Kisara had to push her brother to the side, her blue eyes watered in alarm,"Go onii-chan!" She feared that something was wrong and didn't have a clue on what to do or say. Kisara's bottom lip quivered and she helped her mother back into the hut.

"Naoko-chan, we need to get my hahaue into the room!" Kisara shouted panically as she slowed down to match her mother's pace. Kagome started to look around the hut, but mainly at the shoji door, waiting for her husband and mentor.

Naoko, rushed to help her, holding onto Kagome's other arm and leading her to the birthing room. There was no time to walk all the way to Kaede's hut when Kagome was going to give birth. Naoko began to panic at the small cry that Kagome had let out at a contraction.

Placed onto the futon comfortably with smooth blankets holding her up, Kagome looked at the girls with a small smile. "Don't worry I will-" She cut herself off when a long contraction had hit her.

"Chichiue!" Makoto scampered through the village grounds, passing the very few villagers that held baskets on their backs, some in their arms. They exchanged glances at the young pup and smiled, but did not know what was going on currently.

Sango was seated outside with her children when the young Inu-pup startled her when he had practically jumped out of nowhere. "Makoto-kun are you-" Sango began to say with a smile on her face upon seeing the young child.

"Hahaue….pup…..where's my chichiue?" He began to say, trying to breath in and out, while trying to calm down. Makoto heaved heavily, his chest rising and falling as he drew in air through his nose.

Sango's eyes widened as she tried to piece the very few words that she was told,"Kaede-sama, she's with him, they are with the headman." She stood up and watched the boy leave in a hasty dash towards the direction he was told to go.

Sango cupped her hands over her mouth. "Children! Come out please, we are going to see Kagome-chan!" Not even a few seconds after, her children barreled out of the hut followed her.

Sakura and Haruka hurried to keep up with their mother as she walked down the path where she was needed to go. Exchanging looks, Sakura was the one to speak up,"Okaa-san, is Kagome-obasan having the baby?" The girl was keen to notice the worried expression on her mother's face.

"Yes, Kagome-chan is having her baby, we must hurry. For Makoto-kun's and Kisara-chan's birthing it took only a few hours before they were born." Sango muttered the last part to herself, her feet picking up pace.

Inuyasha looked at the headman grimly,"So you're saying that you've seen the panther demons around here still?" He was quite on edge with the fact that they were still lurking around, but he hasn't smelt their scent around the village.

The headman shook his head,"No, Inuyasha-san, not panther demons but more like your kind. The men from the watchtower noticed one flying above, yet it didn't seem to cause any real harm."

"A dog demon ye say," Kaede remarked, her fingers resting on her chin,"Then ye have nothing to worry about. If I know the aura, it must be Nishiyo-sama. She is Inuyasha's obasan, and she will not cause any harm or inflict any damage to this village."

The headman's brows furrow,"Hmm…last time you said that was before those panther demons attack our village, had damaged our crops as well." Kaede raised a hand,"It will not happen again, they were sent-"

"By the dog lord's mother, I know all, Kaede." The headman turned to Inuyasha. "I know you protect this village, many of us villagers are in your debt for caring and warding off the demons. I just hope that nothing like what ensued before will not happen again."

"Of course not," Inuyasha nearly growled out, crossing his arms inside the long sleeves of his haori. His ear swiveled backwards to hear faint shouts of his son calling out to him. Inuyasha turned around to see Makoto running to him, almost barreling into him if he hadn't slowed down.

"Chichiue, hahaue's having the baby!" Makoto shouted. Realization seeped into Inuyasha's mind when Kaede began to speak of the conditions Kagome was having. "I do not know Kaede-obasan, she told me to get you and chichiue as fast as I could," Makoto retorted.

"C'mon, my wife is having my pup and I ain't going to stand here any longer. Makoto, I have to carry the baba so you'll have to keep up with me," Inuyasha told his son. Makoto nodded and they quickly sped off back to their hut.

"Kagome-chan, it's okay, you'll be fine, just breath." Sango spoke softly to her best friend. Kagome nodded, sweat trickled down the side of her head as she felt an unbearable contraction hurting her. She closed her eyes shut and waited for it to end.

"Kagome," not too long, Kaede had arrived just in time. Inuyasha waited outside along with his children and Sango's children.

"Kaede-obaachan," Kagome said hoarsely, her eyes drooped with exhaustion and pain.

"It won't be long, Kagome, hold on," Kaede said, gathering the things that Sango had ready for the birthing. Sango held her friends hand when the contractions started to last longer.

Hours had passed and Inuyasha sat waiting, his leg moving impatiently as he heard his wife's agony from the hut. His ears pinned to his head and his shoulders slumped. He still wasn't use to seeing Kagome in such pain, even after the birth of his two pups.

Kisara was gazing at the sky and the sun was starting to dip over the mountains, her stomach growled a little but she reminded herself that her father had brought a few fruits to lessen her hunger, including the human children who laid lazily on the grass.

"Chichiue," Makoto said, earning a 'gah' of surprise from his father. Makoto knew that his father had all concentration as they waited for the arrival of their new family member.

Inuyasha straightened himself and looked at his son, waiting for him to speak. "Are you sure that it is supposed to hurt?" A small yet faint blush spread across the older hanyō cheeks. "Of course it's…got to. Remember the day your sister was born, your mother she-"

"SIT!" A loud shrilling scream coming from his wife sounded. It took only a second to realize that Kagome did not remove the beads of subjugation. Inuyasha mumbled in the ground, waiting to see if Kagome would yell out the command once more.

However all thoughts flew out his head when the cry of a baby, or pup in Inu-terms, was soon heard. Sango's children stood up on their feet and were happily jumping at having yet another cousin with dog ears to play with.

Kisara gulped slowly, throughout the birthing, she felt quite uneasy with how painful it must have been for her mother, she was restless by the time she heard the small cry.

"That's good, ye did great Kagome," Kaede said softly, looking up at young woman who gave the elder miko a weak smile. Sango cleaned the baby with the cloth she had and had the newborn pup in the water bucket, much like how Kaede cleaned her son, Tadashi when he was born.

"It's a boy!" Sango cried with a smile as she looked in Kagome's direction. The newborn pup had a truffle of black hair, hidden were a pair of dog ears, yet she couldn't tell what color eyes the newborn pup had.

Kaede nodded,"Congratulations, Kagome, ye have another son."

Kagome looked warily at her mentor then reached out to hold her newborn pup until she was stopped by the elder miko.

Sango held the pup and looked at the concentrated look that was on Kaede's face as her brows knitted together and her eye narrowed.

"Now, ye get ready for the next one."

Next one? Kagome thought, her eyes wide and shared a look with Sango who held her newborn baby. Sango knew that it was dangerous for one to have a baby, let alone two, she had barely made it when she had the twins.

Thank you:

Princess Inume - Thank you :) This was soon, ne?
Elfen Children - Thanks, I hope this was happy enough, in someways. It is sad that she had passed :( I know, sorry.
Cspullivan2 - Yup they are very powerful, they might surpass their uncle if they practice :D You are correct, Inuyasha would have done something if it hadn't been for Nishiyo who went to their aid. I hope the little piece on their reaction when they found out that it was InuKimi's fault was in the chapter. You're right again, she is with Inuyasha and Kagome, but she might stay with Kaede on some occasions. You're welcome and thank you :D

Until then minna-san, if any of you are Dead Inside But Still Alive fans, guess what, the sequel is now posted. I hope you like it. Bye! Thank you all for reading, have a great day!
