"You're incorrigible" Alicia told Kate who was still grinning mischievously.
"Well how else was I supposed to get him to leave. People from the 22nd Century are such prudes. I would have thought you all would be more open minded and accepting"
"Of different lifestyles, sure but we don't need to hear all the dirty details" Alicia said.
"Fair enough" Kate said.
"So do you still want to show me your sexy bra and talk about wanting to have sex with your husband?" Alicia asked as she traced the shell of his tiny ear with her finger. She had missed the feeling of the small baby in her arms. He was so light and fragile. Everything about the kid was adorable right from the top of his head of fluffy hair down to his tiny little feet.
"Nah I just wanted Jim to leave. I'm happy to wait 6 weeks and the bra is a real pain. Too small" Kate said shifting in bed, Alicia wondered what Kate was doing but was answered when Kate pulled her bra out from under her top and moved to tuck it in her bag. "I'll get my old boobs back right?" Kate asked.
"Possibly" Alicia said.
"So how are you?" Kate asked as she returned to lying on her side looking at Alicia. She watched her friend closely noting the sadness in her expression and the pain as she turned her head and looked at Kate. Her eyes were glistening with unshed tears as she opened her mouth to answer but no words came out.
Alicia closed her mouth and shook her head as she didn't want to lie but she also didn't want to talk about it. Kate gave her a soft reassuring smile and a moment passed between them where Kate made her feel like she knew everything and that Alicia didn't need to say a word as she understood.
"The funerals are today" Kate said with a sigh making conversation as she laid back onto the bed beside Alicia looking up at the ceiling. "I hate funerals, Malcolm's going to the one at 9 am because he lost a few of his staff in the explosion. Is it heartless of me to be glad I won't be there? I'm just so tired of crying. You know?" Kate said in a conversational manner.
"Are you ok?" Alicia asked, Kate looked her and gave a smile that genuinely told Alicia that she was fine. It was reassuring to see her friend not weighed down with dark emotions.
"Oh yeah but I think this year I've cried enough and I have to think about how my emotions affect my little man here not to mention Malcolm. I'm sure if I cry any more he'll have a nervous breakdown" Kate said half jokingly with a chuckle.
"How's Malcolm coping with the losses to his department?" Alicia asked.
"He's ok but I don't know. He's rather casual about it but I think it stems from his memory loss. He doesn't remember the relationships he built with his department. So he doesn't feel the same sense of loss." Kate said, she waved a hand around in the air as if she was struggling to find the right words.
"Have you talked about it?" Alicia asked.
"A little but I don't want to dig too deep. I know it still upsets him sometimes when he can't remember things or connections to people." Kate said.
"I can imagine so" Alicia remarked.
"I wish I could do something for him. Maybe I should go to the funerals" Kate said thoughtfully.
"No, you're needed here to look after me and our brood. Also babies and funerals do not mix" Alicia told her.
"That is true. I bet that slag Haynes will be all over Malcolm with fat crocodile tears in her eyes. Doesn't she ever learn? Malcolm will never leave me, I'm an excellent shag" Kate joked, Alicia laughed at Kate's joke.
They continued to talk and Kate joked about her last few days of all of Malcolm's parenting antics and him taking care of her. Alicia listened feeling envious of Kate but also glad to hear the woman had survived her first few nights with ease and not too many tears. Kate also told her about what she knew was going around the colony or what Evan and Malcolm had told her. She also appreciated that Kate wasn't pressing her for details about Lucas. She knew the topic would eventually come up but was grateful to not feel pressure from Kate to talk about it.
Time passed quickly and Kate took Caleb off her to feed and change his nappy before she came back into the room and placed Caleb back onto Alicia's chest for some tummy time as Alicia was currently lying flat on her back. Kate then laid back down onto the bed beside her.
"Hey Jim said he hadn't gotten around to giving you breakfast. You hungry?" Kate asked her, sitting up. She was famished and ready to eat a buffet.
"Not particularly" Alicia said as she watched Kate get out of bed.
"Well I'm making pancakes, so you stay and I'll-" Kate stopped and made a face as a knock sounded at the door. "You expecting someone?" Kate asked.
"Not at this hour" Alicia said as the door opened.
"Hello?" Guzman called out.
"In here" Kate said as she moved back to lying on the bed. "You think he'll make us breakfast?" Kate asked in a low tone to Alicia.
"Trust me you don't want him too" Alicia remarked in a low voice before they both looked at the open bedroom door where Guzman appeared.
"Well what would Taylor say if I told him I found you being motor boated by Kate's son?" Guzman asked in a teasing manner as Caleb was currently rubbing his face in Alicia's chest it was his signal that he was done with 'tummy time'.
"He'd say that Caleb is one classy guy who has good taste." Kate answered as she pushed up into a seated position and lifted Caleb into her arms.
"Taylor wanted me to drop by make sure you two were alive and help with the twins' breakfast. I'm early I know but it's a quiet day" Guzman said as he was looking at Kate with Caleb, something about the scene was rather touching.
"You want to hold him?" Kate asked Guzman as she noticed he was staring at her and Caleb. She wasn't unnerved by it as she knew Guzman was a parent and babies were just a lovely reminder of how their own kid used to be that small and it brought back happy memories.
"Are you sure?" Guzman asked.
"It's fine, he's recently been fed and changed. So he shouldn't be too fussy. Oh and he only spews on people I hate" Kate told him.
"I don't know if that should reassure me or not" Guzman said stepped forward and lifted the baby up into his arms and soft smile played on his lips as Caleb squawked for a second before settling into the man's arms.
"Well Kate doesn't hate that many people. In fact, Kate do you hate anyone besides Haynes?" Alicia asked her. Kate made a face as she felt 'hate' was a strong word.
"I don't hate- no I do but it's only because she's incredibly annoying and doesn't ask permission and does stupid things" Kate said.
"Do I want to know?" Guzman asked as he felt he was missing something in the conversation.
"No and anyway shouldn't you be at the funeral?" Kate asked him.
"The dawn service for the soldiers finished and now I'm on duty. Speaking of duty, this guy could use a change" Guzman said to Kate.
"The change table is that way" Kate told him with a smile as she pointed in the direction of the nursery where the twins were still sleeping.
"You made him, you clean him" Guzman told her in a matter of factorial tone.
"Ah can't blame me for trying" Kate said with a sigh as she pulled herself out of the bed and took Caleb from him. "After I'm done with this guy, I'm making pancakes. You want some?" Kate asked Guzman.
"Sure, I'll help you with the twins in a minute" Guzman told her.
"Cheers" Kate said, she left the room and Guzman looked to Alicia. They could hear Kate murmuring in soft uplifting tones to Caleb in the other room.
"So, how are you Wash?" Guzman asked looking to Alicia.
"Fine, just tender but in a couple more days I'll be up around" Alicia assured him.
"Taylor treating you well?" Guzman asked, Alicia knew he was asking for the truth but she didn't want to talk about how the last few days she felt like a visitor her own home, an unwanted one at that. Taylor barely acknowledged her, he didn't show any interest in her personally but then it had only been 24 hours.
"He's fine, you don't have to worry about me" Alicia said in a reassuring manner. Guzman nodded and she knew he didn't believe a word she said but then they both knew Taylor for many years. He knew just like Alicia that Taylor wasn't going to be easy to live with while he grieved. They all could be understanding but everyone had their limits.
"Ok but know if you need anything you call me" Guzman said to Alicia.
"I'll keep that in mind" Kate said as she came back into the room as if Guzman was talking to her instead of Alicia.
"I was talking to Wash" Guzman said even though he knew that Kate was riling him on purpose. He held out his arms offering to take Caleb for another hold as he enjoyed holding babies. It reminded him of early days when Tash was just a baby.
Kate smiled as she handed Caleb back to him. She and Guzman didn't get along most days but she appreciated the care he took with Caleb and how he was warm to her child. In weird way she found it comforting since Taylor had yet to visit her and Caleb. To do the whole holding of Caleb etc.
"Why don't you ever offer to help me?" Kate asked Guzman playfully.
"You'd take me for granted. So where are my pancakes?" He asked her.
"Oh yeah I forgot" Kate said, Alicia and Guzman shook their heads in amusement as Kate shot out of the bed and out of the room into kitchen.
"So tell us what's going on in the Colony besides the funerals" Alicia said to Guzman 15 minutes later. She took a bite of her pancakes. Her back propped up by pillows and a breakfast tray in front of her she was eating in bed and the twins were in the room eating in their high chairs. It was highly unorthodox in bed with the twins in their high chair not to mention Guzman who was at the doorway sitting on a dining room chair with his plate in one hand a fork in another.
Kate was back lying back on the pile of pillows on Taylor's side of the bed. She had scoffed her pancakes in about 5 minutes flat while the others were taking their time.
"Well" Guzman started after he swallowed his bite of food. He spoke in low dulcet tone as he told Alicia and Kate of the repairs, construction plans and general atmosphere of the colony. After a few minutes he nodded his head as if to say 'look at Kate', Alicia looked at Kate and saw her eyes were closed was fast asleep with Caleb on her chest.
"Keep talking, she won't wake up" Alicia assured him.
"She going to be ok sleeping like that?" Guzman asked sceptically as Kate had her head at a very uncomfortable angle.
"Yeah, finish eating then we'll move her and Caleb into a more comfortable position" Alicia told him.
"Hello?" Malcolm called out as he opened the door to Taylor's home late afternoon.
"Bedroom" Alicia called back. He walked into the home and closed the door before going to the bedroom. He stood at the open door way looking at his wife, she was curled up on the bed asleep while Alicia had Caleb in her lap enjoying him grasping her fingers with his tiny hands. The twins were in their play pen by the bed asleep having their afternoon nap.
"I see my wife is taking very good care of you and the twins" Malcolm teased lightly.
"Don't be fooled, she hasn't neglected her duties. I ate pancakes for breakfast and a mean Gallosaur sandwich for lunch. You were missed" Alicia informed him as Kate had looked put out by his call when he said he wouldn't be home for lunch.
"Yes, I would have rather been here than working" Malcolm assured her.
"So you ready to take your sleepy family home?" Alicia asked.
"Not yet, I dropped by because I was wondering what would you like for dinner?" Malcolm asked as he stuck his hands pockets giving her a smile that border lined on sympathetic. Alicia's smile slipped as she realised Taylor had palmed her off to be Malcolm and Kate's problem for the night.
"I didn't-" Alicia started.
"Taylor is working late. He asked us to make sure you and the twins are taken care of" Malcolm told her. Alicia nodded appreciating that she had such good friends.
"Right, well I'm happy with whatever you're serving" Alicia told him in a defeated manner.
"Ok, I'll dig around the fridge at our place and see what we have." Malcolm said, he took a few steps as if he were leaving when he turned and faced her. "You know that if in the next few weeks you and the twins need a change of scenery or a break from here for any reason our door is open." he told her.
"Thank you Malcolm" Alicia said to him.
"Now before I go, do you need anything right now?" Malcolm asked.
"No we are all good, the twins will need to be woken up. Not to mention Kate" Alicia said.
"She'll wake up on her own. I'll be back in a few" Malcolm assured her.
A week passed quickly after the funerals as the colony worked on rebuilding and getting on with life. Taylor wished he could feel the same sense of 'moving on' as the others felt as he was still struggling past his own guilt that the major contributing factor to the colony's pain was his son. A son he couldn't keep in line or failed to raise properly. He also felt a fragile tension between himself and Alicia as they walked around on egg shells with one another. She refused to talk about Lucas as she felt there was nothing to say and he felt there was. He tried not to push and thus they lived like two uncomfortable strangers who shared the twins. They didn't share the same bed or any intimacy which he told himself was his fault and he couldn't stand what their relationship had become yet he couldn't be with her until he knew what happened in that house with Lucas.
So until then they organised their lives efficiently, Alicia was up and out of bed which made it easier so she looked after the twins and he helped with breakfast and then worked until late rebuilding his command centre. He felt if he wasn't home he wouldn't interrogate her and break what little they had left of a relationship.
So he purposefully stayed out until he knew the twins and Alicia would be asleep. He couldn't look at her without feeling incredibly conflicted. On one hand he wanted to wrap his arms around her and kiss her senselessly for being alive but another part of him whispered to him how she had killed Lucas. He needed to rationalize that it was self defence, that it was her only option left but he couldn't let go that it was the perfect excuse for her to kill him. She figured she wouldn't survive so she killed Lucas out of spite.
It was something he knew Kate would do, and he knew that both women were so close that they almost thought alike. Their morals and ethics were questionable at best when it came to how they dealt with conundrums like what to do with their enemy. Kate believed in not keeping them alive, he knew she had left Lucas alone because he was Taylor's son. That and Taylor felt that Lucas had scared her, made her face her issues with her own mortality. Alicia of course had learned the same lesson from Ellyas, thus her mind was bent the same way as Kate's.
It was easy for him to conceive that now they had removed Ellyas, Lucas was the only remaining threat to their sanity. With him gone, he would no longer hold anything over the colony. Lucas' death meant he could no longer hurt them. Something he hated was the lack of mercy in the act. Alicia could have shot Lucas in the chest or used a lower setting but she hadn't. He just needed to hear her reasoning, to know what happened.
He kicked off his boots and moved into the house. He walked quietly and stood by the open door way looking at Alicia. She was fast asleep and from what he could tell dreaming as her hands twitched and her breathing was erratic. He moved closer and noticed a light sheen of sweat on her face as she turned her head whimpering in pain. Taylor felt a band tighten around his heart as he couldn't stand to watch her in pain. He knelt down so he wasn't towering over and reached out. He cupped her face gently, she felt warm to the touch but not feverish. Something he was grateful for.
She woke to his touch and she became completely still under his hand. Their eyes locked and for a long moment they just stared at one another. He didn't remove his hand from her face.
"You were having a nightmare" He finally said breaking the silence.
"Yeah" Alicia said thickly, he could see her putting up the walls inside. Trying not to show her pain but the tears slipped from her eyes. She took a deep breath to steady her nerves. Her nightmare still fresh in her mind.
"You want to talk about it?" Taylor asked her with concern.
"No, I don't" Alicia told him, her lips forming a thin line.
"How long are we going to continue to not talk about it? You're having nightmares, why not tell me?" Taylor asked. She wished when he asked that question he didn't make it sound like he was asking for a confession.
"Because I don't want to, just let it go" Alicia pleaded.
"You know I can't" Taylor told her. He slipped his hand from her face and got to his feet and left her to go to the spare bedroom to sleep. Their stalemate had to end but it wouldn't be tonight.
"Taylor" Kate said in surprise as she opened the door with Caleb on her shoulder early the next morning. She had just finished giving Caleb his morning feed and the last thing she expected was to find Taylor on her door step but there he was. He looked wrecked but then considering the hours he was putting in lately it wasn't a surprise.
In fact she was surprised he was knocking on her door at all considering they hadn't spoken since the day he left the twins with her nearly two weeks ago. Something she hadn't shared with Alicia. The couple had their issues to work through and Kate didn't want to add fuel to a fire that had yet to be lit and to be honest she just wanted to forget all about it and move on.
"Come on in" Kate said inviting him in, she assumed he was finally coming round reconcile with her and see Caleb for himself. She found she was actually alittle excited at the prospect of Taylor holding her son and telling him he was proud of her.
"Thank you, Malcolm home?" Taylor asked.
"Yeah but he's passed out. All the late nights and early mornings are getting to him. So he's playing catch up" Kate said as she walked into the kitchen and rubbed Caleb gently on the back burping him. As she had just finished feeding a few moments ago.
"Would you like a tea or coffee?" Kate asked Taylor.
"Coffee thank you" He said, Kate nodded and poured him a cup from the fresh pot she had made for Malcolm. He had asked her to wake him in 10 minutes so he could make breakfast for them. She had planned on beating him to it and earning herself a few brownie points.
"So how have you been?" Kate asked as she awkwardly held Caleb and filled the Kettle with water and then placing it on the stove for a cup of tea.
"I've been better. I assume Alicia has been telling you all about it" Taylor remarked as he took a sip of his coffee. Kate gently rubbed Caleb's back and made a face at Taylor's insinuation that Alicia would gossip about him behind his back.
"Alicia and I are friends but we don't discuss the intimacies of our marriages." Kate told him, she felt warm feeling dribble down her shoulder and looked to Caleb who gave a hearty spit up on her shoulder. The kettle began to whistle on the stove.
"So she told you what happened with Lucas?" Taylor asked ignoring the noise. Kate pulled it off the stove and then tended to son completely distracted by what Taylor wanted from her. She was also alittle annoyed he was offering to help or at least take the kettle off the stove for her while she tended to Caleb.
"Ah no, we tend to talk more about our ladybits and babies. She is currently more concerned about me slipping into post partum depression but I feel fine" Kate told him as she cleaned the spit up on her shoulder best she could and then got a fresh towel for a her shoulder in case Caleb had a second round in him. She looked at her son who had his head on her shoulder still awake.
"Good" Taylor said casually.
"Yeah, it is but why do I feel like you're not here to see how I'm doing?" Kate said keeping her tone casual and light with a sly smile on her lips as she could tell he wasn't here to talk to her about herself or Caleb.
"You are like Alicia, intimately familiar with people like my son and Ellyas" Taylor said, the smile that had been on Kate's lips fell completely as she grew morose. She had hoped he would prove her wrong but instead he was making it worse for them both. He had come into her home to talk about Lucas.
"You're familiar with them too" Kate said as she tried to control her emotions. She wondered what he was getting at and thus gave him the benefit of the doubt.
"No, I'm not nor am I as flexible in my morals and ethics like you and Alicia." He told her, Kate felt like Taylor had backhanded her across the face.
"Interesting choice of words." Kate said holding her tongue on what she truly wanted to say. To her, she felt Taylor had just lumped her and Alicia into the same group with Lucas and Ellyas. She had done some questionable things in her time but she knew was not psychotic nor did she ever take pleasure in killing a person the way Lucas and Ellyas did.
"You know what I mean" Taylor said.
"Yes, I would have killed your son and not feel an ounce of guilt. The only regret I would have is the loss of our friendship but I am not your wife so my actions and thought processes are entirely different" Kate told him.
"That wasn't what I was asking" Taylor said in a dark manner as his expression grew dark from her blunt honesty.
"Isn't it? Oh sorry then please continue. Tell me what you're getting at?" Kate asked, Caleb started fussing in her arms and so she adusted her hold on him and placed him on her shoulder and rubbed his back to soothe him.
"How can you be so blasé?" Taylor asked her callously.
"You say that as if Lucas was some kind of saint. In all seriousness, Jim told me it was self defence and I believe him. Alicia wouldn't kill Lucas deliberately. She knows the attachment you hold with Lucas. Tell me why would she hurt you intentionally? Does that sound like her?" Kate asked trying to keep her cool as she held Caleb, part of her told her she needed to hold him upright until he was settled from his feed but another part of her told her to put him down before she unintentionally hurt him from the anger brewing in her towards Taylor.
"I know what you're saying but-"
"But you have to grieve. I get that, I really do. But don't lose what you and Alicia have because she was the one who was in the room when your son died. It could have been me and we'd be having an entirely different conversation" Kate told him.
"Very true" Taylor remarked.
"And you already know my opinion about Lucas. Who is he was, is not a reflection of you. It was his choice and his actions. If we were a byproduct of our upbringing I'd have been married by 18 and with at least two kids by my age now. I'd also be a devout Christian. But I'm not any of those things. Just as your son was nothing you wanted him to be. He was not perfect and he was not even a good man but he was your son and you're entitled to feel the loss but don't let the grief blind you and ruin what you have here and now" Kate told him in a warning tone.
She needed him to realise that he was pushing their friendship as well as ruining his marriage without coming out and saying it to his face. She turned her attention to Caleb who was now crying and tried to soothe him before he woke up Malcolm. She didn't know why he wasn't accepting her comfort as she had fed and burped him, he wasn't wet. She paced and closed her eyes as Caleb continued to fuss.
"I want you to talk with Alicia about what happened with her and Lucas" Taylor said over the noise. Kate took a deep breath as she tried to soothe her son and calm herself which was hard as his cries were making her leak breast milk but she knew he wasn't hungry. She was beginning to feel like she was drowning and Taylor was either completely oblivious or ignoring her.
"I don't need to know what happened" Kate told Taylor as she kissed the side of Caleb's head as he continued to cry on her shoulder. She made 'Sh' noises as she rocked Caleb gently in her arms vainly trying to soothe him but he wasn't having any of it.
"But I do" Taylor told her.
"I don't why it's so bloody important" Kate snapped her stress levels increasing by the second.
"You wouldn't understand" Taylor said.
"So you think just because Alicia and I are cut from the same cloth. Our ethics and morals are a bit 'loose' that I'll have no qualms in making your wife talk about your son's last moments and then tell you what she said verbatim?" Kate asked feeling compleletly overwhelmed. She gave up trying to calm Caleb and herself. She moved to his portable cot and placed him down feeling sick to her stomach that she had to put Caleb down in his portable cot but she was afraid of hurting him.
"Yes, because it will help me." Taylor said.
"You're asking me to get into the middle of your marriage. I won't do it. Can't you just ask her yourself?" Kate asked as she moved away from him and Caleb. She had to control her emotions and right now she felt like she was drowning in them.
"I tried she won't talk to me but she will to you" Taylor told her. Kate's eyes narrowed at him as she insinuated that she should be his spy.
"Maybe she will and maybe she won't but I'll tell you this if she does I won't be sharing it with you" Kate told him. Taylor's demeanour turned stone cold and his back straightened slightly as if they had gone from being friends talking to professionals.
"Alicia is refusing to make an official report. She won't talk to Shannon either. I'm asking you to do this as it's your job as deputy. I want to know what happened" Taylor said. Kate pulled her head back and blinked at him shocked he had even gone with that reasoning.
"Oh wow first its talk to her as a friend who has no integrity to pulling the deputy card?" Kate asked incredulously, she turned away from him and in that second spotted a huntsman spider on the back window of the house. She cringed at the sight. Kate loved spring but she hated the creepy crawlies that come out of the woodwork. It just seemed to be the icing on top of the cake for her morning.
"Normally she would have to write a report on the events but she's not on active duty and contract is up so technically she's a civilian. I can't order her to confess" Taylor said. Kate shook her head as she looked around for something to kill the spider. She picked up a small ugly rock sculpture Boylan gave her as a joke gift. It had a heavy round base that would do well.
"Confess what? She's the victim" Kate said correcting him as the urge to bludgeon Taylor instead of the spider was quite strong but she didn't want to spend the rest of her day looking for the damn spider.
"She was with my son in his final moments. I need to know what happened in that house" Taylor told her. He watched her pick up the sculpture and wondered what she was up to as he hadn't seen the spider scurrying across the back window.
"You know she stabbed right? That she lost a lot of blood and nearly died? I hear it's a rather traumatic experience, maybe she doesn't remember what happened at all and she's racked with guilt because she can't give you the 'recount' you want!" Kate exclaimed as she moved to the back wall to squish the life out of the spider but Taylor grabbed her arm to get her attention.
"She remembers" Taylor told her. Kate yanked her arm out of his grasp.
"So you believe, it's not like you asked and I am definitely not going getting in the middle of this when we both know your 'son' and I use that term loosely because whoever you keep imagining in your head as Lucas is not the man we all know here in the real world. And I'm sorry that his death causes you great pain." Kate searched for the spider as it had moved. "But he was a psychopath, a traitor who killed many people just to make you miserable. If he had not been your son, you would have ordered me to give him a merciful death and leave his body to rot in that jungle months ago and you wouldn't be asking me to make your wife confess as if she murdered Lucas when we both know it was self defence!" Kate said angrily, she spotted the spider and didn't even think her actions through as she pegged the sculpture at the spider.
She hit her mark and the spider was flattened to death but the force of the sculpture connecting with the glass made a loud thud and splintering sound as the glass in the pane of the back door completely splintered but thanks to the double glazing didn't shatter to the floor but remained intact. The Sculpture dropped the floor with a loud thud and the bedroom door opened simultaneously.
"I heard something crash. Is everyone ok?" Malcolm demanded, he had woken up to the loud crashes and jumped out of bed and pulled on some clothing before coming out. He looked at the back window that was damaged and Kate looked to be in complete shock while Taylor looked equals parts shocked and unimpressed.
"Well?" Malcolm demanded looking at Taylor and Kate but Kate was in a total state of shock. Tears ran down her face as she shook her head not saying anything. "Commander? Would you like to inform me what is going on?" Malcolm asked as he looked to Taylor. He also wondered what the man was doing in his home so early but saved the question for another time.
"Your wife killed a spider" Taylor said stating the obvious. Kate seemed to snap out of her shock, she turned and looked at Taylor.
"I quit" Kate said.
"I'm sorry what?" Malcolm asked as he wondered what Kate was 'quitting'. He felt torn between Caleb and Kate at that moment as they both needed his attention. Kate didn't look at him, she looked directly at Taylor.
"I quit, I will not do as you ask and I'll inform Shannon that he needs to find a replacement for my position as I won't be returning as deputy. Now please leave my home" Kate told Taylor in a quiet and serious tone.
"I see you've chosen your side" Taylor said to Kate, he took his leave. The door closed behind him and Kate sunk to the floor drawing her knees to her chest she folded her arms and dropped her head down.
