"Do you wanna get breakfast?" I asked Kaitlin in the morning. I was wearing a black and white striped single-shoulder blouse with a black hat and jeans. We needed to figure out something that we could do about Oliver.
"I'm not hungry." She told me. "You don't know how hard it was for me not to start wailing on that guy. I mean he's pretty scrawny. I could have taken him."
"I don't think that violence is the best way to deal with this guy." I responded. "We have to be smart about this. He have to prove to Marissa that he's bad news. If you talk to him again, make sure that your cellphone is recording."
"I don't want to talk to him. I know he's dangerous." She explained. "But there's no way that Marissa will believe me. I don't even want to go to school."
"Well your mom won't let you skip." I pointed out. "We can prove this. It might take some time but we can figure this out. If we can have him admit it again, we can win this. Look, before I got here, my go-to way of solving things involved fighting. We have to do this the right way or we will lose."
"It means so much to know that I'm not alone in this, that someone believes me." She replied. "When I tried to tell my mom, she wouldn't even listen. I thought about talking to Caleb, but I couldn't."
"That sounds like it could actually be a good idea." I explained. "We'd still to come up with a real plan for this. So if you don't want to eat, we should probably go to school."
"So do you think that Seth will help us?" Kaitlin asked. "He didn't seem like he believes us."
"No, but Holly might." I replied. "Just don't do anything without consulting me first."
We headed to the car, not saying anything to Seth on the ride there. The main reason I was driving was because he had wrecked the Range Rover twice.
As soon as we got there, I noticed Oliver was with Marissa. He was absolutely delusional because there was only one way that Marissa would be interested in him and I don't think that he would get that operation, though I do have to consider the remote possibility that he actually would. That did make me wonder what he would look like as a girl. Probably like Blake Lively…why am I even thinking about this?
It was at that time that I was met by Summer.
"So Marissa doesn't seem to notice that Oliver is in love with her and it's really got me worried." She told me. "I don't know what to do. Not to mention, she never wants to hang out anymore. I mean I don't have anyone to talk to about how things are going with Anna."
"Well he flat-out admitted it to Kaitlin and I but she won't believe us." I explained. "Also you can talk to me about it if you want."
"It's just not the same. Coop and I have been best friends forever and now we're just drifting apart because of Oliver." She explained.
"It's all the more reason she needs to know the truth." I responded. "Kaitlin and I are working to expose him, but I think you could actually be a big help. We need to record him saying something. Do you know where Holly is?"
"She's actually suspended." Summer explained. "She punched Oliver. She's usually not someone that goes about punching people for no reason, so I'm pretty sure that something's off about him."
"Well Kaitlin thinks that he faked his suicide attempt." I told her. "I think I agree with her because it seems like a sleazy way for him to get sympathy."
"Well tell me what else you know." She ordered.
"Well he had to leave Pacific because a girl got a restraining order against him." I explained.'
"That's what we should do." Summer suggested.
"I already talked to Sandy, and only Marissa or her parents can do." I remarked. "We need more."
"Well I want this guy out of our school and away from Coop ASAP." She told me. "I'll do whatever I have to."
"Well we've established that physical violence won't work." I pointed out. "We have to be smart. I wish I knew a genius that could help me out with this."
"I happen to know of one." Summer replied. "I just need to find her."
"Well I have to get to class. Let me know when you do." I said.
I tried my best not to look at Oliver during my class.
During lunch, Summer came and grabbed me and Kaitlin and took us to the library. I hoped that this wouldn't take too long because Kaitlin needed to eat. I hoped that she wasn't on a hunger strike until Oliver was dealt with.
"What are we doing here?" I asked, half-expecting someone to shush me for talking. She took us deep in the library to a table with a girl with sandy blonde hair.
"Sammie, this is Taylor Townsend." Summer introduced.
"You still haven't told me what you wanted." Taylor said to Summer.
"I need your help." I explained. "I imagine by now you've heard of Oliver Trask. He's obsessed with Marissa Cooper and he's had several incidents against him. I need your help coming up with a plan to expose him for what he is: a stalker."
"There's going to be a price." Taylor explained. "I want to be able to hang out with you at a party."
"Sure." I replied. "So do you have any ideas?"
"I think wearing a recorder and hidden cameras would be a good idea." Taylor suggested. "I happen to have some made for this occasion."
She presented each of us with a pin that had a small recorder in it. The hidden cameras were a little trickier. Did she have fantasies of being a spy or something? I guess I couldn't deride for helping us and I didn't know anything about her. There was no reason that I couldn't invite her over for a party. I would have to convince Sandy and Kirsten to let me throw a party. Maybe Holly could throw an Oliver Is Out Of Lives Party. While not a lot people like her right now, they do like her house.
We didn't get a chance to talk Oliver for the rest of the day. He was going to be with Marissa after school because he always was. I thought that maybe it would give us a chance to find him in the parking lot, but it didn't. He definitely knew what he was doing. I couldn't help but wonder if he had been planning this out for weeks. We had to be smarter than him.
In the morning, I found out that Kaitlin was eating again. Today I was going to wearing a net cardigan that a hidden camera would be able to see through. I got the idea from John Tucker Must Die. I just hoped that I wouldn't get wet and electrocuted by it. I walked into the kitchen which was full of papers.
"So I found out that Marissa is going to be staying over this weekend because my dad is going out of town." Kaitlin said to me.
"I would be great if we could get this figured out by then." I replied. "Remind me to thank Taylor if this works out."
"Are you talking about Taylor Townsend?" Kirsten questioned. I nodded, wondering how she knew about her. "I haven't heard that name in ages. She and Seth used to be friends when they were kids. What has been she up to these days?"
"I think she might be training to be a spy." I declared. "So Kaitlin and I are trying to prove that Oliver is a dangerous, but we're being careful and we're not doing anything illegal."
At that moment, the doorbell rang and there was Julie.
"Hi Mom." Kaitlin said to her in confusion.
"Is Kirsten here?" Julie asked. "I wanted to see if I could give her a ride to work."
I decided that it would be best not to get involved with any of this stuff right now. We had our own issues to deal with at the moment.
"So I was thinking bringing up Natalie." I said as we went out the door. "Maybe I can get him to admit that she does not exist."
"That's a good idea." She agreed. "Because if she doesn't exist, that meant that he definitely wrote the letter to Marissa."
Once we got to school, I saw Oliver and I knew that I had to make my move. I wanted to act like I was okay with everything from before. He was with Marissa.
"Hey, Oliver was wondering if I could talk to you about something?" I questioned. I looked to Marissa. "Could you give us a moment alone?"
"Sure." She agreed before she went to bathroom.
"So are you gonna tell me to stay away from her or hit me too?" He asked. "How is Holly doing now?"
"No, I wanted to talk about Natalie." I declared. "I can't help but notice that you never told us her last name. So what is it?"
"Well if you must know I got the name from the girl who works the front desk." Oliver told me. "But Marissa won't believe that. There is no way that she'll trust either of you anymore."
At that time, Marissa walked by over and I walked away. I think I had what I needed. I just needed to get Taylor to give me a way to show it to her. I knew that I needed to find her right away.
I found her in the hallway this tine and took her to the bathroom with me where I took the camera off of my bra strap and handed it to her.
"How soon can you get the video?" I questioned.
"It'll take me some time to get it on a disc." She explained. "I might be able to get it for you by the end of the day."
"Well I need to be able to show it to her." I replied. "Do you think that you could email it to her?"
"I can only send school emails from the network and I can't guarantee that she'll read it." Taylor explained. "So can I hang out with you and Kaitlin tonight?"
"Right now isn't the best time but as soon as we get this sorted out, I will definitely be your friend." I promised. I mean she seemed like she was nice, if not a little lonely, kind of like how Seth used to be.
So after school, I got a text saying that Kaitlin and I needed to meet Holly at her house.
"Thanks for coming." She replied. "So I talked to some people at Pacific and I was able to find out that Oliver didn't have a girlfriend when he was at Pacific."
"Yeah, I managed to get him to tell me that." I explained. "I've actually got him on video saying it, but I'm waiting to see if I can get it converted so I can show it to Marissa, if I can get her to watch it."
"I'm telling my mom." Kaitlin declared. "This has gone on long enough. I have to have dinner with her tonight and I'm going to tell her. I'm going to blow the lid of all of this tonight."
So that night, I found out that Seth had invited Summer and Anna over for dinner. I guess it was great he was still friends with them after all things considered. As we were sitting down at the table, my phone began to ring uncontrollably. It was Kaitlin.
"I'm sorry. I have to take this." I declared as I got up. "Hello?"
"I tried to tell Marissa, but she drove off." Kaitlin explained. "She wouldn't listen to me. I think she went to see Oliver. I'm really scared."
"We'll go and find her." I promised. "Just let me get out of here and we can handle this."
I went back out to the dining room.
"I need to skip dinner because there's an emergency involving Marissa." I explained.
"What happened?" Summer questioned.
"She drove off as soon as Kaitlin tried to tell her the truth about Oliver." I declared. "I need to go now so anyone who wants to come with should come now."
"I need to go." Summer told Anna. I wasn't sure what we were going to do. We couldn't just barge in and take Marissa from him. One reason being that we didn't have a key to his room or any sort of battering ram. We just had to figure it all out quickly. I didn't want to give her any extra time with Oliver. I kind of felt like we were in one of those race against time movies. It wasn't exactly sure what the consequences of this would be. I had no idea what he would do to her.
It was a good thing that he was still in the same room. You know if he was smart, he would have changed his room, because I'm pretty sure that hotels aren't allowed to give out that sort of information.
"You know what, I don't think there's anything that we can do." I admitted after we were in the car. "We need to wait for Marissa to come back."
"But we can't trust Oliver." Summer pointed out. "Any guy with a fake girlfriend is usually either gay or a creep and we know that he's not gay."
"We have to let this play out." I told them. "Unless you can come if with a plan right now, we can't do anything. It sucks, but it's true."
We had a little slumber party in the pool house as we went to see if Marissa had come home last night. Her car wasn't in the driveway. Her dad hadn't seen her either.
"I'm going to call her." Summer announced. "She's picking up. Hey Coop. I needed to talk to you about Oliver. This Natalie chick isn't real. I'm not making it up. Okay, I'll be over there in a minute. Bye. She said she wants some clothes."
"Are you going to take them to her?" I asked.
"No, Kaitlin is." Summer explained. "You have to make her listen."
"We need to all go for this." I replied. "We can stand lookout while this goes down."
"I can break into the room." Summer declared. "Maybe I should said that last night."
"Okay, let's do it." I agreed. From there we went upstairs to the penthouse. Summer began to pick the lock and she managed to get the door open so the three of us walked in. There was no bag of clothes.
"Marissa?" Kaitlin called into the room. I think I heard the shower running.
"Put your hands up." Oliver declared. We looked at him and noticed that he was holding a gun. "I said put your hands up!"
Okay, this was not how I saw things going. Now I was terrified.
"You're crazy." I told him.
"I'm sorry that it had to be like this." Oliver stated. "But I'm not going to let anyone stand in the way of me and Marissa."
At that moment, Marissa stepped out of the bathroom wearing a towel. She should have stayed in there.
"What is going on?" Marissa asked. "Is that a gun?"
"Marissa, get him to calm down." I requested.
"Oliver, put the gun down." Marissa ordered. "If you're my friend, you'll put it down."
"Friend, friend, Marissa I'm in love with you." Oliver declared. "How could you not see that?"
"I don't feel the same way." Marissa stated.
"Are you sure about that?" He questioned as he pointed the gun at Summer.
"Oliver, put the gun down!" Marissa screamed but didn't seem to want to listen.
"This is the police, open up." Someone said from outside the door. How did they know that we were here? I then looked on my blouse and noticed the pin. I think Taylor might have called them. At that point, the door began to open and two officers came in and aimed their guns at him. "Put the gun down."
"Let's see if you can shoot me before I can kill one of them." Oliver declared. He put his gun in my face and I closed my eyes and heard some shots. I opened my eyes and saw that I wasn't hit. I looked at Oliver on the ground. He looked like he was dead. Kaitlin immediately wrapped her arms around me tightly.
"Are you girls okay?" One of the cops asked.
"Yes." I replied. I had a feeling that we were going to be questioned at this point. I was glad that I managed not to pee myself. I was relieved.
So, it turned out that since we were minors, they had to wait for our parents to show up. We weren't going to be quoted for the newspaper.
Julie wanted to keep Kaitlin and Marissa in the house and I was pretty sure that Dr. Roberts felt the same way. I knew that there was somewhere that I needed to go. I had to find her address. I went over and knocked on the door. She was in her pajamas.
"Hey." I said after she answered the door. "You know you saved our lives today."
"Does that mean that we're friends?" She questioned.
"Yes it definitely means that we're friends." I declared. "In fact, I was wondering if you wanted to come over to my house with me. My mom told me that you and Seth used to be friends."
"I would love to." She agreed. "Just let me get dressed and I'll be right out."
I drove her to the house and immediately Seth hugged me.
"Could you wait in the pool house a minute?" I requested of Taylor. She nodded and gave the two of a moment alone.
"I'm so sorry that I didn't believe you." Seth apologized. "I'm your brother. I really should have had your back."
"Well it's okay." I explained. "It did sound a little bit crazy. It seemed like a plot out of Fatal Attraction, or The Valley."
"There's still no excuse." He declared. "I will never let you down again. So was that Taylor Townsend?"
"Yes, I thought that the two of you might want to catch up." I said before we walked to the pool house.
So Oliver is dead after holding the girls hostage. Not to mention, someone unexpected made an appearance and even managed to save the day. Please don't forget to review.
