"Thor. It's a strong name. No one's gonna mess with Thor." Seth commented. We were currently by the pier watching boats. I was trying to think about how to tell him that he might be a father. I still couldn't believe that he had had sex with Theresa. I decided to just tell him.
"Theresa is pregnant." I stated.
"What now?" He responded. "No she can't be."
"Well according to Marissa, she is." I declared.
"Is it Eddie's?" He asked. "It has to be Eddie's."
"Yeah, because it's not like you ever had sex with her or anything." I stated. Holly was not going to be happy about it. "But it's a 50-50 shot that it's not yours."
"We don't even know if there is a kid." Seth replied. "How much faith can you put in a swab?"
"Don't say that. Ew." I remarked. I sounded kind of like Summer there.
"Do you realize how much of a Newport girl you just sounded like?" He asked me.
"Well it wouldn't be wrong to say that I am one." I pointed out. "You know you're taking this well."
At that point, Theresa came out of the family planning clinic. It didn't look like good news.
We later walked into the kitchen see that Mom and Dad were making out. I was more used to seeing that than Seth.
"You're not at school." Dad noted.
"Yeah, we were at the doctor's office." I explained.
"Is everything okay?" Mom asked in concern.
"Yeah, it's fine." Seth lied.
"I'm pregnant." Theresa declared. They looked shocked.
"Well, except for that." Seth added.
I met up with Kaitlin and Marissa at school.
"So it's official." The older Cooper declared.
"Yes." I confirmed.
"Does she know who the father is?" Kaitlin asked. I was pretty sure that you had to wait until the baby was born to find that stuff out.
"No." I replied.
"But there's a chance that it could be Seth's?" Marissa asked.
"Who would have thought that Seth Cohen would knock a girl up?" Kaitlin questioned. It didn't seem very likely since he hadn't really even talked to many girls at the beginning of the year.
"Yeah and the fact that she's my ex makes it even more unlikely." I added.
"So it is true." Holly remarked as she walked over.
"Yes, I told her." I replied. "But we don't know if Seth is the father. Have you talked to him yet?"
"I don't know if I can be with him knowing that another girl is having his baby." Holly declared.
Well I didn't know how I would feel if Kaitlin was pregnant. Well I knew that first I would demand to know what happened, but after the confusion, it would take a lot of thinking.
It was a very complicated situation. I knew that Seth was trying to talk to Summer and Anna about it.
"I can't believe that all of this is happening on top of my mom's wedding." Kaitlin commented after we went into the school. Yes, the timing was particularly unfortunate. "I thought that we were finally free of the drama."
"I guess the drama never goes away." I declared. "You know I really want to help Theresa."
"Isn't not really your job to do that." Kaitlin remarked.
"Yeah, but what is Seth going to do?" I challenged. "We both know that he probably can't handle a job."
"Maybe you're not giving him enough credit." She suggested.
"Well this is my brother and the girl that I grew up with. I have to do whatever I can to help them." I stated.
"Do you wanna come over to my dad's today and help me help Marissa move?" She asked.
"I'm not sure that that's such a good idea." I replied. "It should really be something between you two and your dad."
"So where are we going?" She questioned.
"What do you mean?" I inquired.
"It sounds like you're going to be putting a lot of energy into helping Seth and Theresa, so where does that leave me?" She asked.
"Kaitlin, you're my girlfriend and I love you." I pointed out. "I don't know what else you expect me to say."
That night, I was unpacking dinner with my parents.
"Does Theresa's mom know?" Dad asked.
"Not yet. Theresa doesn't want to tell her because that would make the whole thing seem too real."
"I've got news for you: it's real." He pointed out.
"Sandy…" Mom replied.
"There's no point in sugarcoating it." He declared. "Do you know how many unwed mothers used to come through my office?"
"We all know how real this is." She stated. "Can we just eat dinner?"
At that point, Seth walked into the kitchen. Dad walked over to him and put his hand on his shoulder.
"Okay, so what happened happened, and we'll help you through this." He declared.
"Well you did raise me." Seth remarked. "So do we have any pudding?"
"Pudding and Chinese don't go together." I told him.
"Pudding goes with everything." He argued. At that time, Theresa walked in.
"So I have my secret recipe: takeout." Mom declared.
"Thanks, but I ate at work." Theresa remarked. "Samantha, Seth, can we talk?"
The three of us went outside.
"What's going on?" I questioned.
"I've been thinking. We haven't really about this." She explained. "Seth, you're not ready for this. I'm not ready for this."
"I can help both of you." I replied.
"I can't do this." Theresa told us. "I'm not gonna do it. I'm not gonna have it."
"No, you can't do that." Seth responded.
"Look if you don't want to take care of it, you can give it up for adoption." I offered.
"I can't tell my mom about this." She replied. "Seth, you're off the hook."
In the morning, I was looking over the mail with Seth was eating cereal.
"It says that you need to renew your dock fees for your boat." I told him. "Maybe we could take it for a ride."
"Sure." He muttered.
"Seth, I really don't know if there's anything that we can do about this." I stated. "As much as I'm against it, we can't force her to have the baby. We haven't even been on your boat since the summer. I thought you were going to sail to Tahiti. Holly might want to go."
"Fine, let's just go." He responded. "Maybe I dodged a bullet…or maybe I didn't. Maybe I want to be a dad."
"I know this situation is complicated, but actually maybe I should let you mope. I wanted to hang out with Kaitlin. I hope Julie lets me sit with her at the wedding."
Later in the day, we were having lunch at school.
"So, Theresa says that she wanted to get an abortion." I explained.
"How does Seth feel about that?" She asked.
"Well, he's relieved, upset, and disappointed." I answered.
"Did she say when?" She questioned curiously.
"She just said soon." I told her.
"Well maybe everything can go back to normal?" She suggested.
"Maybe it never was normal." I stated.
"How about we spend this whole summer just being normal?" Kaitlin proposed. "No more fighting or drama or anything."
"We can't hold Seth to that." I joked. "Probably not Marissa either."
"That's why it should be just us." She stated. "We can be your average lesbian couple."
"Okay." I agreed before giving her a kiss.
After school, I went to the dock with Seth. He was talking to his boat.
"Are you sure you're okay?" I asked.
"I talk to a plastic horse too, but that never worries anyone." He quipped. "This compass can lead me to Tahiti."
"I'm not an expert but I'm pretty sure a map would work better." I replied as I got inside of the boat. "So, are you going to go again?"
"Well I haven't had much reason to flee since you showed up." He explained. "You made Newport kind of alright. I could have done it in 42 days."
"You could still go." I offered.
"Or we could sail to Catalina and take our ladies?" He countered.
"It sounds like it could be a plan." I agreed with a smile.
That night, I went to see her in the pool house. I took a seat next to her.
"Hey, how are you feeling?" I questioned. It was probably a stupid question.
"Pretty lousy." She replied. Yes, it was definitely a stupid question. "So remember how I said that I didn't want to have the baby. As hard as it is to imagine having one, now I can't really imagine not having one."
"You need to tell Seth." I declared. "He needs to know if you're having it."
"I have to do have it." She replied as she gave me a hug.
In the morning, Seth and I went into the kitchen. She had told him and now we were really confused. Just because she didn't want to have an abortion doesn't mean that she had to keep the baby.
"Hey do you want any breakfast?" Mom asked.
"No, we're just checking to see if Theresa wants anything." Seth replied.
We went to the pool house to see her packing stuff up.
"Do you want pancakes or waffles?" I asked. "What are you doing?"
"I'm going home." She answered. "I talked to my mom and told her everything. I should have left last night after seeing the look on Seth's face."
"You don't have to leave." I told her, sitting down next to her.
"We can figure this out." Seth added.
"I can't stay here." She replied. "You'd have to come with me."
"I can't go back." I stated. I knew our parents definitely wouldn't want Seth to leave. "I'll get breakfast on the way."
"I'm gonna sell my boat." He stated after she left. "I'm not gonna be a deadbeat dad."
That night was the rehearsal dinner. I was wearing the same black lace strapless dress that I planned to wear to the wedding. Seth couldn't leave before the wedding because he was one of Caleb's groomsmen.
I stood by Kaitlin's side as we had some refreshments. They had these bacon-wrapped nuts.
"So do you wanna bet that something will go wrong at this wedding?" She asked.
"Well I think considering that something usually goes wrong when we're dressed up, we'd have to bet on what." I said. "I do think this will happen."
"I'm not too sure about that." Kaitlin countered. "I wouldn't mind hiding in the pool house right now."
"You know I am interested in seeing your new place some time." I told her.
"So where's Theresa?" She asked curiously.
"She went back home to have the baby." I replied. "I'm not sure, but Seth might follow her."
"Did she and Eddie make up?" She responded.
"As far as I know, they did not." I stated. "But she told her mom."
"Is she really having the baby alone?" Kaitlin asked.
"I don't know!" I snapped. "She asked me and Seth to come with her and I can't go back. I said that I was never going back."
That evening, we were at the table. I was seated by Hailey, while Marissa and Kaitlin flanked their mother. I still hadn't found out the final seating. Caleb gave a pretty nice speech. I couldn't help but wonder who would give a speech about him. He basically said that the Nichols, Cohens, and Coopers would become one family.
Seth walked into the house and I followed him.
"Are you okay?" I asked.
"I needed some air." He lied before Holly and Kaitlin came in.
"Is everything okay?" Holly asked.
"Let's go somewhere else." Seth suggested.
So, the four of us headed to the beach by her house.
"This is where you beat me up." I told her.
"I don't think I ever really apologized for that." Holly admitted.
"Well that's basically water under the bridge." I remarked. "Don't worry about it."
"I still can't believe you modeled during that fashion show." Kaitlin told me.
"So do you feel better, Seth?" I asked.
"I can't help but think that I need to follow her." He replied. "I can't let Theresa do this by herself."
"She's going to have her mom." I pointed out. "You can't go."
"I still don't understand why you're not in a hurry to go back." Seth stated.
"I know that it doesn't make a lot of sense, but I like my life here too much to leave it. There aren't any chances there." I explained. "I want to stay."
"Well I suppose that there's nothing I can do to make you stay." Holly remarked.
In the morning, Seth was going to finish the sale of his boat. I called Holly and Kaitlin over.
"Okay, so we don't want Seth to leave and he doesn't want to leave." I stated. "Kaitlin and I can probably get our jobs back at the lobster place and we can probably get you one too. We can pay for an apartment."
"Theresa wants to be with her family and Seth has to be with her." Holly countered. "We have to tell your parents."
"He'll hate us if we do that." I remarked. "It's too bad that we can't confirm that the baby is Eddie's."
"I don't know if that will make a difference." Kaitlin declared. "We can't let him go."
"If there was anything else that I could do, I would do it." Holly stated.
"So I guess you don't love him them." I said. "It's not like he would have even been with Theresa if you hadn't been so bad at sex."
"Sammie…" Kaitlin told me.
"No, I have to go get ready and try to find a way to get him to stay." I replied. "If you want to help, just let me know."
I found him having a chat with our dad. It seemed like he had told them.
"Dad, I want this to grow up like I did, only with more friends." Seth explained. "I want it to know it has two parents that love it."
"Well I can't stop you if you want to take some responsibility for your actions." Dad admitted. "Just know that just because you're leaving doesn't mean that I'm letting you go. Now get dressed. You have to witness the most unholy of all unions."
We went to the chapel where I took a seat with Holly, Summer, and Anna. Everyone else was in the wedding party.
After the ceremony and the lunch came the dancing. I grabbed Kaitlin and took her to the floor. I noticed that Holly managed to convince Seth to as well. It seemed like she was still okay with him leaving.
"You know I'm glad that you came here." Kaitlin told me. "Before you got here, my life was boring and people only saw me as Marissa's younger sister. You were the first person to ever think of me as Kaitlin."
"You know I can't believe that he's leaving." I admitted. "Before this year he was just a nerd who liked comics. I'm pretty sure that I was his first real friend and this is all my fault. I mean I don't know what I'm going to do without him. Seth was the best brother that I ever had. I know that Trey does care about me, but he's a criminal."
"I'll help you get through this." She told me.
I decided to go back to the house to see if I could stop him, but it turned out that I got there before him. I happened to notice something on the doorstep. There was a letter addressed to him in Theresa's handwriting.
Seth
I'm sorry but I can't let you leave. I'm not going to Chino. I'm going to Atlanta. I can't tell you where, because you belong with your family. I can't drag you down with me.
Love
Theresa
PS tell Sammie to go for everything in her life because she deserves it.
I put the letter down in shock.
End of Season 1.
So I changed the ending. I still have to figure out what I'm gonna do with Season 2, but this is finally over. Thank you for reading and please don't forget to review.
