Padme raced down the stairs the next morning. Her first thought in the morning was the same as her last thought the night before. Her emotions were a mess of happiness and fury. There was so many question she needed answers. But there was one defining thought. When were they going to get out of here and go home? Her real home.
Her heart paused as she pondered that one. Her home wasn't meant to be with wolves was it? But why did she feel so connected? Alejandro teased her feelings something awful. The question arose time and time again. Did she belong here?
Her feet flew beneath her as her pace quickened down the hall. The only thing that could stop her heart from racing was what she ran into.
"Jandro! I-I'm sorry I didn't think -"
"Off to somewhere in a hurry my dear? I haven't seen you in these spirits for awhile."
She took a deep breath and recomposed herself. "No I-I was just on my way to check on Anakin. Caci said he needs to be monitored closely now."
"Before you go I have news for you. I'm sure that you won't be disappointed at all."
"Can it wait until later? I can't leave him waiting for me."
Alejandro took a step closer to her and reached for her hand. Padme felt a cold shiver run up her spine.
"You're free to be my reina."
Padme's eyes widened and she took a step back. Fear racked her every nerve. The thought of what he was implying was too much for her aching spirit to take in. "What do you mean? Alejandro stop it I don't like it when you do this."
"Do what? Its what you want to hear and I'm telling it to you. You're free to marry me. the Jedi has decided to cut all ties.
"NO!" The word ripped through her throat as she tore herself away from him and continued her run down the hall. The tears threatened to come but she refused to let them fall. She had to have faith. Ani wouldn't do this to her. he couldn't. He was the most loyal and fearless creature that she had ever known to exist. "Please Ani, let it be a lie," she whispered.
Padme tore the door opened when she reached it. Anakin flinched when he heard the sound. A part of him fell apart when he saw her standing there like that in the door. He knew that she knew.
"Anakin I need you please!"
She raced over to his side and grabbed his shoulders. Anakin turned refusing to meet her gaze. "Alejandro must be driving me mad! I know that it can't be true! Tell me that you wouldn't leave me! Tell me!"
anakin pushed her away and turned his back to her. Padme stepped back in total horror. "Ani?"
he gestured to the door and shook his head. It was as if there were no more words left to say any more.
"So its true then. Y-you want me to leave you for another man?"
He nodded stiffly. it was short and quick, but enough that she knew his answer. He was throwing her out just like that.
"Anakin how-how could you? don't you love me anymore?"
Those were the last words that she could get out before turning to leave. Her heart couldn't bear anymore. He wouldn't even look at her now.
Anakin felt his entire body shake when he heard that door close. He knew why he couldn't turn around and even say goodbye. She would see the tears streaming down his face.
