The Final Battle II
*Cerulean Cave Exterior*
"Is that him?" Someone from the crowds surrounding me asked.
"Yeah, I think it might be him." Someone else said.
"I didn't think he'd come back for...well, ever."
"Does this mean what I think it means?"
"Look at that! He has a pokemon out with him. I don't remember him having a Pidgeot…"
"What's he doing now?" Someone asked as I knelt before a small tombstone that marked the place that I buried Lucky, my Beedrill.
"Lucky…" I said. "Soon. Soon it will all be over, and everyone can relax again. Kakuna Matata, Lucky."
"Hey...Hank?" Talon asked me as we tried to ignore the crowds of people staring at me.
"What is it buddy?" I asked him.
"I...I want to be the one that defeats Mewtwo." Talon choked out.
"Talon...I thought it was pretty obvious to everyone that Lucius had the best chance."
"I- I know that I don't have the best chance." Talon said. "But I never knew my father. I only know of tales of him from what you and my mother have told me. And I will never be able to know what having a father is like now, and it is all because of Mewtwo. Hank, I need to be the one to finish him. I just wouldn't feel right if it wasn't me in that battle."
I thought about this. Talon's special defense was pretty good, and Lucius's special defense was rather horrid, but Lucius still had the type advantage and some great physical attacks, but as I looked into Talon's eyes I could see how much he wanted this. It was almost as if I could see his father, my old Fearow, Braveheart, looking out at me, and stubbornly letting me know that this was what he was doing, and he would be damned to let anyone else do it.
"Very well." I told him. "We do have the Full Restores, but this whole Attract gimmick we have you running on won't cut it." I said as I pulled out a TM. "I think that this move might be the best option for you to use. I was planning to teach it to Gabriel, but then we saw the Pokeathlon and he just wouldn't leave that place. I think- no. I'm sure that you will put this move to amazing use."
As we walked closer to the cave, the people began to form an organized path for me to walk down so that they could see if someone really was going into Cerulean Cave. I approached the man who was guarding the entrance. "If you wish to enter the Cerulean Cave, you must give a reason." He said.
"My name is Hank Coro." I told him. "I am the Indigo League champion. I have single-handedly defeated Team Rocket, not once, but twice. I have hunted down and defeated all three legendary birds, have met Ho-oh and the legendary beasts and refused the help that they offered me, I have defeated Lugia using my words alone, and I intend to grant my Pidgeot what might be his final wish." I said as I stroked Talon's chin. "So I ask you, good sir, that if you wish to see your home free from the nuzlocke rules...Stand aside and please let me pass."
The man was amazed at everything I told him, and as he eagerly stood aside, I realized exactly just how amazing my journeys had been. I looked to Talon, who nodded, and together we entered Cerulean Cave.
*Cerulean Cave*
"This is really creepy…" Talon said as we walked through the soundless cave, barring the drops of water we would hear occasionally.
"Where do you think Mewtwo could be?" I asked as we wandered around until something whizzed past us in the corner of my eye. "Did you see that?!" I asked.
"Yeah!" Talon confirmed. "Come on, we should follow it."
We kept looking for the thing whizzing by us, and every time we saw it, it would disappear as soon as it had appeared, until finally, it led us to what looked to be a lair of sorts.
"Here." A voice said.
"What do you mean, Talon?" I asked.
"I thought you said it…" Talon replied. Suddenly Mew appeared before us.
"Hank Coro." He said. "You've grown since I last saw you."
"Mew… I'm glad you're here, see, I'm having a bit of trouble finding Mewtwo." I told him.
"Don't worry." Mew said. "I can light up the cave, and Mewtwo will instantly strike me down."
"No! Don't sacrifice yourself!" I protested. "We can find another way to-"
"Hank Coro! I am motherfucking Mew. The mirage pokemon, and I am uncatchable. I am what Mewtwo's dna is taken from so when I say what the plan is, that is the plan. I am going to light up the cave, and Mewtwo will strike me down. He knows that the weaker he is, the weaker I will be as well. Once he strikes me, send out whoever you want at him, but do it quickly, because he knows Recover and will not hesitate to use it. Now, prepare yourself for some bright light."
"Talon." I said. "Get ready, because this is it."
"I'm as ready as I'll ever be." Talon said, completely serious.
As Mew lit up the cave, a giant white light pierced my eyes. "Talon!" I said as my vision slowly returned. "Get ready for it."
A giant purple ball of energy rammed into Mew, causing him to disintegrate. And where he once was, Mewtwo appeared, physically weakened.
"Talon, Return!" I yelled. Talon rammed into Mewtwo, and he turned around.
"You!" He yelled. "You have been a thorn in my side for far too long."
"Oh yeah?" I retaliated "well you-"
*Ring*
*Riiinnnggg*
"Hello?" I asked as I picked up my phone and signaled different moves for Talon to use as he clashed with Mewtwo, including Roost, the special recovery move I taught him in order to help balance out Mewtwo's recover.
"Hi, Hank? Hi, this is Joey, remember me?"
"Yes Joey."
"Hey, do you remember my Rattata?"
"The one that's a Raticate now? Yeah, I remember him."
"My Rattata is soo cool! It's like, in the top-percentage of Rattata!"
"That's great Joey, now, I'm currently trying to defeat Mewtwo so if you don't-"
"Hey, my Rattata and I almost caught a Caterpie!"
"Rivetting, now I really should get-"
"But the Caterpie knocked us out before I could get to any pokeballs. Ah well, see you later."
"Bye Joey." I said as I threw my Pokegear to the ground and stepped on it. "How are we doing Talon?" I asked my Pidgeot, who was flying around, shooting Hyper Beams and dodging psychic attacks. "Has Roost come in handy yet?"
"Many times, yes." Talon said. "This is really just a battle of recovery moves. You wouldn't happen to have any-oh wait..nevermind."
"What is it?"
"Well, you know how my Roost move has 13 PP thanks to the PP ups you gave me? Yeah, Recover still only has 10."
"That's great, so it's just a waiting game? Good job buddy! I'm a little upset that I missed probably an amazing battle, but I'm glad you're doing well."
"It was a good call you made, smashing the phone like that." Talon said. "Now we don't have to put up with him anymore."
"Aghh…" Mewtwo said as he was hit with Talon's last Hyper Beam. "How?" He wondered aloud. "I only have Safeguard and Swift left…" He said as he hunched over. "And you sit up there with full health, and haven't even used Fly once. How?"
"The 'How' isn't important." Talon said as he prepared for a final Return attack. "What is important is that you have taken my family and friends away from me. I have never known my own life."
"My own life…"
The words seemed to hit mewtwo in a place I didn't think he had. "I know how angry you must feel." Mewtwo said, letting his guard completely down. "I never had a life to myself either, not until I escaped, and even then, I'm a clone. An anomaly. I will never have my own life…" His tone started to get angrier again. "And that is why I trapped the area that took my life away in a warped system, where everyone's is taken! If I cannot know my own life, than nobody can!"
"Talon, use Return!" I shouted as I saw Mewtwo charge up an attack that looked like it would wipe out everything in the cave. And like all great Pokemon battles, there was an explosion.
*Later*
Crowds formed around Cerulean Cave's entrance. They could hear footsteps. As they saw Mewtwo step out of the cave, they gasped in fear, but breathed a sigh of relief as they saw Flint my Typhlosion and I throw the body into a fire. Soon, Talon zipped out of the cave and flew around. I was happy for him. He became a hero today. He would have made his father incredibly proud. As the crowd cheered for me, I walked with the two pokemon that had stuck with me since I first began my journey in the Johto region. "I like to think that today was a good day."
Flint said. Talon nodded.
"Today was amazing." He exclaimed.
Soon, I heard a buzzing noise. I instinctively checked to see if I still had my pokegear somehow, but I didn't. The buzzing got louder and louder until I finally turned around to see
"Lucky?!" I asked in disbelief.
The Beedrill nodded affirmatively, in fact, all around, pokemon were coming back to life from the grave and reuniting with their trainers. As I saw all my old pokemon who've helped me on both of my journeys and many other trainers' old pokemon as well, I could hear the music beginning one last time, as everyone started to sing.
"Ahhhhhh!" Powerball rose up to the top of Mt. Moon.
"Gonna shout it from the Mountaintops!"
"A star is born!" the crowd sang.
"It's a time for pulling out the stops!" Professor Oak sang to Misty.
"A star is born!"
"Hit it with a hallelujah!" Twinkle sang as he stretched out his multiple appendages.
"The kid came shining through!" Comet, my original Starmie, sang along with him.
"Girl, sing the song." Jealousy, my old Haunter sang. "Come blow your horn…"
"A star is born!" The crowd sang.
"He's a hero who can please the crowd." The Kimono Girls sang.
"A star is born." The crowd sang
"Come on everybody, shout out loud, a star is born!" The Kimono girls sang. "Just remember in the darkest hour, within your heart's the power…"
"For making you…" Lyra sang as she and Silver rode in on a Noctowl.
"A hero too…" Silver sang.
"So don't lose hope when you're forlorn." everyone sang. "Just keep your eyes…" They all pointed up. "Upon the skies! Every night a star is born!" They sang as I saw Mew, Ho-oh, and a green fairy-esque pokemon flying around. I knew that somehow, they were bringing everyone back to life.
"Like a beacon in the cold dark night…" Jasmine sang.
"A star is born!"
"Told you everything would turn out right!" Looker sang.
"A star is born!"
"Just when everything was all at sea…" Lugia sang
"The boy made history!" The Unown spelled out.
"The bottom line…" Fireball said as I reunited with my Charmeleon. "He sure can shine!"
"He has all 16 badgs worn.."
"He knew how to-"
"He had a cluuueeee, yeah!"
"Telling you a star is born!"
"He's a hero who can please a crowd." Great Blue, my Gyarados sang as he came up to me.
"A star is born!"
"Come on everybody, shout it loud, a star is born!" Poohbear, my other old Snorlax sang.
"Just remember in your darkest hour…" The legendary bird pokemon sang
"Within your heart's the power…" The legendary beast pokemon sang.
"For making you…"
Faraway, Gabriel looked up out of the Pokeathlon dome, to see pokemon reuniting with their trainers. "He did it.." Gabriel said. He hovered quickly over to Magnus. "He did it! Hank did it!"
"A hero too…" Thrash, the first pokemon I caught, and a Mankey, sang.
"So don't lose hope when you're forlorn." everyone sang
"No, no."
"Just keep your eyes…"
Talon instantly flew off, compelled by something.
"Upon the skies!" Everyone pointed and I looked up to see Talon flying completely in sync with a very familiar Fearow.
"Right inside your heart is…" the crowd sang.
"Braveheart!" I called.
"Burning bright a star is…"
Braveheart flew low to the ground enough so that both Flint and I could jump on his back. "Hello again, my friend." He said.
"Every night a star is booooorrrrrrrnn!" The crowd sang as Flint, Talon, Braveheart and I all flew home.
~THE END(ish)~
