Disclaimer: I don't own Naruto except for the few OC's I've used so far…so yea.
AN: At last, the epilogue! Although it didn't take as long as the previous chapter. Whew. Also, yes I meant epilogue and not sequel. That's what I get for writing that thing at one in the morning. Sorry about that. Anyway, enjoy.
Epilogue:
Kingdom of the Maelstrom
It was one of the usual nights for one Uzumaki Naruto. Stop at one of the nearby taverns, drink to his heart's content, even though he couldn't get drunk thanks to his high immune system, and finally return to his house in the center of the city. The last part was always the most dreadful one, something which he hated to think of it as such. It was where he and Kushina lived, after all. He should find joy in being there. But instead, it only brought him dread. Maybe because seeing her always reminded him of the past. He wasn't quite sure.
Sitting down by one of the tables in the back of the small tavern, Naruto clasped his hands in front of him. He was wearing the simple pair of clothing of the period, even though he had more elaborate ones back at this place. But when he came out, he didn't particularly liked being noticed. Not that it would mattered. He was always under the guise of a different person when he came out to the public as the head of the Uzumaki household, not his normal looks.
One of the barmaids came to his table, quickly taking his order before rushing off to attend some other table. It seemed as if tonight was a busy night unlike most. But Naruto didn't put much thought into it. Instead, his mind went to where it always did during this time: reflection.
'125 AD, huh…'
It was almost impossible to believe, but Naruto knew it was reality. He had long since lost count of how old he and the others were. He just knew that he was currently living in Rome, the heart of the famous Roman Empire. Naruto had to say that he quite liked the Romans. Maybe it was the way they did things, or their sense of always looking beyond into the future. He didn't know. But it had been a while since he had last seen order in this part of the world. He was sure Kushina wouldn't mind spending a few centuries here to see how things would turn out around here.
'I just hope Anko doesn't mind being left alone for a while.'
The barmaid from before rushed back to his table, giving him his drink before walking off. Naruto sighed in content as he drank. No one seemed to make a big deal about his odd looks compared to the rest of the natives in the area for once, something which he was enjoying, It was always a hassle to receive weird looks from other people whenever he walked into one of the taverns. It reminded him of how he had been viewed in Konoha. Needless to say, he didn't like it.
It was then that Naruto felt something that he hadn't felt in other people for a very long time: chakra. And he meant in the levels that they had been during the Shinobi era. Naruto shifted his gaze to the entrance of the tavern, coming in view with a very odd sight. And that was seeing a younger version of Kushina. Not that Kushina even looked that old in the first place. But the girl looked to be around seventeen or so. The only immediate difference that Naruto could spot on the girl from Kushina was that the girl had pure blue eyes, which reminded Naruto a lot of his own eyes before the Sennin had fully given him his power. The girl was also wearing armor that sort of reminded Naruto of the kind that Madara once wore, except it didn't look as heavy.
One of the men by the entrance laughed when he caught sight of her. "Hahaha and what are you supposed to be, little lady?"
The girl glanced at him for a moment before moving on to the bar itself. But this didn't seem to sit well with the man. Instantly grabbing her by her arm, he spun her around to face him in an instant.
"I said-"
But the man wasn't allowed to finish. As if pushed by an invisible force, the man was flown backwards and through the door and streets outside. All others merely watched this with wide eyes, including Naruto. His reaction was for an entirely different reason, though.
'Chakra…she just used chakra in that attack!'
Adding even more shock to the situation was the fact that the attack was too similar to his own Shinra Tensei. The Uzumaki male took all of this into account.
The girl, seeing no other brave soul trying to approach her, resumed her way to the bar. Naruto sent some chakra to his ears, trying to see if the mysterious newcomer was meeting with someone. At the bar, instead of ordering a drink, the girl simply scanned the area around her. It was then that Naruto was able to pick up her voice talking to…..someone.
"So there is a strong chakra here…..
"Yeah, yeah, I know. I shouldn't have blown that douche away. But it's your fault! Why send me in this stupid outfit in the first place!?"
"…yeah, I'll find the owner of the chakra soon. He's already in this place anyway. Then, I'll just have to stick with him until the rogue spirit attacks. Don't nag me."
That was all that Naruto needed to hear. It was obvious to him by this point already that she was talking about him. And since he was so close to her already, it could only mean two things: either her sensory skills of chakra were that bad that she couldn't even pinpoint his chakra when all others were beyond miniscule, or she wasn't taking whatever it was that she was doing seriously. Naruto had to guess it had something to do with the latter.
Still, the one part that intrigued him the most, besides the fact that the girl could in fact use chakra, was this 'rogue spirit' thing. To him, it sounded extremely interesting. It was then that Naruto decided to have a bit of fun himself.
Dropping some coins on the table, the Uzumaki took off from the tavern and to the streets outside, trying to see if the girl would follow him. And true to his earlier hypothesis, the girl was indeed following him. Except now he could feel something new radiating from the girl: anxiousness. Hmm…..he wondered why that was. Still, this time he didn't bothered to try and listen in if the mysterious girl was talking to…whoever the hell she had been to before.
'I can ask her about it later,' he thought in slight excitement. That was another thing that bothered him, if only slightly. It had been years since he had last felt any sense of excitement. And now, in a matter of minutes, this random girl brought the feeling back to him. How odd. But the Uzumaki pushed that train of thought to the back of his mind for now.
It was then that he felt something: the sudden urge to jump out of the way. He didn't exactly know why, but his gut feelings had never betrayed him before.
In a blink of an eye, Naruto was suddenly in mid-air and away from his spot down below on the deserted street. Glancing at the girl, Naruto had to admit that seeing her bewildered look did bring quite a bit of amusement to him. Landing on the ground, Naruto eyed the street before him, taking in the space that was between him and the still bewildered girl. But there was nothing there! So why did he-
In an instant, Naruto activated his rinnegan. And what he saw certainly did surprise him beyond belief, a feeling he was now sharing with the girl except for different reasons.
'What the hell is that!?'
There, standing in the spot where he had last been, stood a black crab-looking thing. But it had the face of a human, or a weird looking mask at any rate. Unless that was its face. Judging from the rest of its body, Naruto wouldn't be surprised if it was.
"That sweet odor…..it must be coming from you!"
Naruto blinked as he realized the thing was talking to him. Another interesting fact to add: it could talk. But its comment just left the rinnegan wielder puzzled, evident by the fact of him scratching the back of his head.
"You certainly surprised me there."
Naruto had to fight back the look of surprise on his face as the girl was right next to him in an instant. She was just as fast as he was! Glancing at her, Naruto saw a look of familiarity on the girl's face. He wondered why. But before he could say anything, the thing from before spoke.
"Well, if it isn't the sweet little princess. I thought I left you behind in the portal."
The girl turned her attention to the creature before them, a look of annoyance appearing on her face. "Don't remind me. You asshole…..do you realize how much trouble you've put me through!? Not to mention the trouble I'm going to be in once I get back. And only because you didn't want to be purified. What a dumb excuse."
Naruto had to fight back a sweatdrop as the girl continued to ramble on. Not only did she look like Kushina, she acted just like it.
"Oh, shut up already, Misako. You're already in trouble for not having caught it earlier. I'm sure father is going to increase your training from now on."
A haunted look appeared on the girl's face, now named Misako, at hearing that. But Naruto had a look puzzlement.
"Oi, where did that come from?"
Misako looked at him. "I won't bore you with the details, but it's a communication device." Showing him her right ear where she had a small little device around it, Misako continued. "Now that you already know what's going on, I thought it wouldn't matter if you listened in."
"But….I don't know what's going on."
The girl snapped her neck to his direction faster than imaginable. "You're kidding…..right?"
Naruto shook his head, making the girl t'ch. "Oh great…something else I'm going to get yelled at."
The two jumped back in an instant just as a black colored claw descended down on them courtesy from the creature from before.
"Don't ignore me, brats!" Apparently it didn't like to be ignored.
Landing, Naruto glanced at Misako. "Just what is that thing anyway?"
The girl answered immediately. "It's called a hollow. Plan and simple, they eat human souls as well as consume anyone with…'special' energies, such as chakra. That's why it's here. It sensed your chakra, the most powerful one in miles. It came here because, well, there's no one to stop it in this time period. So it would be free to gorge in on whatever souls it wanted. That's why I followed it. To stop it."
"Hold up…time period? What do you mean by that!"
Misako grinned. "You don't have to worry about that, my friend. But since it looks like you can carry yourself in a fight, why not help me bring this thing down? It'll at least bring some sort of fun to your night. What do you say?"
Turning his attention back to the so called hollow, Naruto knew the answer to her question. Without a response, though, he charged at it.
Seeing this, the hollow laughed. "Hahaha! What can a mere human hope to do to me!? You're nothing more than my dinner!"
Naruto didn't bother to offer it a response. Instead, he easily dodged all of the claws that it sent him to his direction. If there was one thing that he had maintained all this time, it was his physical prowess. That hadn't changed in the least.
Seeing this, the hollow roared in outrage. "Stop dodging, you human!"
"I'm not exactly human anymore, you know."
The hollow was shocked as Naruto's voice rung from behind it. Looking in front of it, the hollow only saw the grinning face of Misako a few feet away. But how!?
"Shinra Tensei!"
The hollow grunted in pain as he was blown away by an invisible force, shattering its body into pieces, the torso having its head attached to it being the largest one. Misako whistled as she saw this. Impressive in of itself. Then again, she had seen the jutsu countless of times before when she herself had been learning it.
The hollow cursed at this. Standing a good distance away from Misako, Naruto raised an eyebrow at hearing this. He was sure that it would have been dead by now.
"Thanks!" Misako said as she walked up to the hollow's head. "And if you're wondering, this thing can only be 'killed' after being purified. But I don't really have that power, so I have to do the next best thing."
Naruto raised another eyebrow at as Misako stopped in front of the head. Grabbing it, she brought it to her eye level. "This is for all the trouble you've caused me today, asshole."
The hollow was about to curse her out before it felt its energy leaving him. In that instant, it knew it was done for.
A few feet away, Naruto's eyes widened as he realized what was happening. This girl, she was using the powers of the Ningendo path! But how!?
The hollow soon vanished out of existence along with the rest of its scattered body. But Naruto wasn't interested in the hollow anymore. No, he was more interested in trying to figure out just who this girl was. Now that he thought about it, she had also used the Tendo's power as well in the tavern earlier. No wonder it had reminded him so much of the Shinra Tensei. Now this was just confusing him.
Misako must have sensed this because she let out a fit of giggles. "You must be pretty confused right now. But don't worry. One day, you will know everything you want to know and then some. But for now, you'll only have to wonder….."
Naruto was about to demand his answers when a seal array appeared on the ground beneath their feet, instantly putting him on guard.
"You don't have to worry about it." Naruto took a step back as the girl appeared in front of him, a small smile on her face. "I mean, why would I want to kill my future father?"
Naruto's eyes widened at hearing this, and then some more as the girl locked lips with him for a few seconds. Pulling back, the girl giggled some more at Naruto's stupefied look.
"This seal will erase your memories of this incident. Until we meet again, father."
The area was soon covered in a blinding light.
Uchiha Amaya couldn't help the twitching of her eyebrow as her lavatory was engulfed in a bright light, signifying the activation of the portal her mother had built about ten years ago. But her eyebrow wasn't twitching because of that. No, it was because of what her sister had done just before returning. Needless to say, she wasn't happy with it.
"Whooo, I'm back!"
Uzumaki Misako stretched her arms as the light died down. Instead of the armor from before, she now wore a simple pair black shorts and a red t-shirt. It was what she felt comfortable wearing when she was home. And she considered the lab to be a part of her home.
On the far side of the room sprawled out on a sofa that didn't actually fit with the rest of the room was another young redhead. Unlike Misako, though, her eyes were a mixture of a bluish greenish color. She wore a simple white robe that didn't hide the fact that she was naked underneath.
"Welcome back, Misako-chan," she said with a yawn.
"Good to see you too, Akane," Misako replied with a smile. If there was one thing that she knew about her sister was the fact that the redhead never passed an opportunity to nap.
"You're crazy you know."
Misako rolled her eyes as Amaya stopped at her side. Unlike Misako, the girl had raven hair, but they did share the same bright blue eyes. Amaya was currently wearing the usual "lab girl" outfit, cape and all. She also had a pair of glasses on, despite the fact that she had perfect vision.
"I don't know what you're talking about," was the redhead's response.
Amaya sighed, shaking her head. "Of course you don't."
Of course, Misako did know. Her sister was talking about the fact that she had shared her first kiss with her father. But that was a secret she was planning on keeping for a while, specially since she had erased his memories of the event anyway.
Looking around, Misako asked, "Where's Mikoto-kaa-chan?"
"Kaa-san was called to deal with another issue regarding the shinigamis," answered Amaya as she went back to her computer. "She said she trusted us to handle the hollow that managed to escape through the portal. You're lucky she wasn't here too."
Misako didn't respond. Instead she walked towards the large glass windows that stood next to the portal on the opposite side of where Akane was lying. Said redhead spoke up from her spot with a yawn.
"Oh, that's right. Kaa-chan wanted me to ask you if you wanted to participate in one of our photo shoots again. Seems like the last one was a hit."
Misako smiled lightly at that. Fuka was one of the most laid-back women Misako had ever met. Then again, Akane was just like that, so she supposed she shouldn't be too surprised at that. They were mother and daughter all right. Not that it mattered to her. She wouldn't change a thing about either of them. That also went for Amaya and Mikoto, as well as her own parents. Or her uncle Ken, who had his own little quirks too.
Stopping by the windows, Misako smiled even more as she gazed at the giant skyscrapers that surrounded the Uzumaki tower. She was definitely back alright. Back to her home. No, not just her home. Their home.
"I'm back," she muttered.
"I'm back to our home…our kingdom…our Kingdom of the Maelstrom."
Yo, I'm back. And faster than last time too.
Not a very long chapter, but it was just the epilogue to tie things down. Now, first, I just want to say that this takes place about twenty years after everything that happened last chapter. Things became calmer, and Naruto finally decided to give in to what Kushina had always wanted: a family. He wanted it too, of course. So, yeah. Secondly, the new era is basically a mixture of the technology during Dr. Newman's time with the difference that humans can now actively use chakra and are aware of gods, hollows, the shinigamis, etc. Naruto is the supreme ruler and all that with the others dealing with their own things as well. Thirdly, yes, Misako does have a crush on her own father for many different reasons that I will leave hanging. As for Amaya and Akane…..well, I'll leave you to speculate that.
So, yeah. That's all I have as far as this series goes. As of now, I have nothing more planned for this. And I don't think that's going to change. But if it does, I'll be sure to say something in advance.
Finally, I want to thank everyone that has stayed until the end for this. It really does mean a lot. And I hope that you have enjoyed this last chapter.
Thanks!
