Epilogue
*15 Years Later*
"Are you nervous?" Braveheart, my Fearow asked me as I waited patiently.
"You'll be fine." Talon, my Pidgeot assured me.
"Thanks guys…" I said. "Oh...the door is opening, we ought to get you back into your pokeballs." I returned them both.
"Daddy?"
"What is it dear?" I asked my daughter as I sat her upon my lap.
"I'm having trouble sleeping...I think there's a ghost in my closet…"
"There might be."
"Daddy! That's scary."
"Oh, I'm sure she's a friendly ghost." I said as I got up. "Let's go find her and play with her."
"What do you mean? Ghosts are evil." My daughter clutched her stuffed Teddiursa.
"Can you keep a secret for daddy?" I whispered. She nodded.
"Your daddy is a pokemon master." I told her as I pulled out a pokeball. "Would you like to see one?" She nodded.
I sent out Fireball, and her eyes lit up brighter than Flash.
"Charizard!" She exclaimed. "It's a Charizard!"
"Hush, honey, please." I said. "Do you still want to move to Kalos?"
She nodded. "Then the kind family staying here for a while need to not feel threatened or realize who daddy is. He would be taken back to Kanto, and wouldn't get to spend nearly as much time with you or mommy.
"Mommy's home from the night market." Lyra said as she snuck in through the door. "The Gengar ran away ag-..." She went speechless when she saw Fireball and our daughter in the same room.
"Has daddy told you his little secret?" Lyra asked with a smile. Our daughter nodded.
"Then you must know by now that he's almost qualified as a pokemon professor."
"Really?" Our daughter asked me.
"Why do you think we have plans to move to Kalos?" I asked as I picked her up and played airplane with her.
"Heehee, daddy, put me down!"
"Why is she up?" Lyra asked me. "Is she having bad dreams?"
"I'd say that Jealousy has taken a liking to her." I replied.
Lyra shook her head. "Hank, what are we going to do? Jealousy likes to joke around too much. It'll terrify our daughter."
*The next morning*
"Daddy, Daddy, Daddy!" My daughter came rushing up to me. "I made friends with the ghost!"
"Hey Hank!" Jealousy appeared right in front of me, scaring the bejeebers out of me. "Your daughter is so much more playful than you were at-"
"She is 4 years old, so you better not have been following me around since I was her age." I told Jealousy.
"Heehee, daddy talks to the pokemon!" My daughter giggled.
"Mr. Coro." A gruff voice said from behind me, I turned around to see Professor Rowan standing there. He said nothing. He looked ready to leave, and then he nodded affirmatively. "You have proven your knowledge and love for become to be exemplary, so as it stands, I, Professor Rowan, head of the Pokemon Professor's Organization, present you with this license to hand out pokemon, pokedexes and pokeballs to new trainers of the Kalos region. You will find everything else you need when you arrive in Lumios City. Congratulations."
"Did I hear that right?" A tall, red haired man walked up. "Are we really all going to Kalos?"
"Uncle Silver?" My daughter asked. "Why are you wearing that strange coat?"
"I get to be your father's assistant!" Silver replied. "I help him with everything around the lab, so don't worry. It'll be almost as if we never moved!"
"Yay!"
Silver and my daughter started to play, and Jealousy went along with them. Lyra came up to me.
"It was really nice of you...all those years ago...to convince your family to take Silver in...It's been a great help to him."
"Yeah…" I said smiling. "Everyone's getting a happy ending, but…"
"But what? Is something wrong?"
"I feel like...well...I feel like something isn't over. I mean, I don't feel stressed, or guilty or anything...but I feel like something isn't complete. I can't quite put my finger on it...but something that was started wasn't finished, and I don't remember what it was...I think...I think it had something to do with…" As I struggled to think, an elderly gentlemen walked up. He was still wearing the same garb from all those years ago.
"Professor Coro…" He said as he bowed. "I think I know what it is you suffer from."
"What is it?" I asked as I stood up. "Tell me, Koga." I said smiling as we both reached for a pokeball.
"How does a one on one sound?" Koga asked. "I have longed for a real battle with you, and my time seems to be running short. Care to fulfil one man's last wish? Give him his happy ending?"
"Who is that?" My daughter asked Silver.
"That's Koga." Silver replied. "He's the current Indigo League Champion. When your father stepped down to pursue his career, Koga was the one whom he appointed in his stead, and Koga has never lost a battle since then, and that was a whole decade ago."
"So is Daddy gonna have a hard time?" my daughter asked.
"I'm not sure." Silver said. "After all, although Koga hasn't lost in ten years, He has still lost plenty. Your father however, has only ever lost a single battle his entire life, and let's just say the playing field wasn't even that time. He had a terrible disadvantage. Your father is a superb trainer. He battles as though his pokemon's lives depend on it."
As Koga sent out his Muk, I sent out Braveheart.
"Pokemon's lives don't really depend on battles do they?" my daughter asked as Braveheart and Koga's Muk began to fight.
"No." Silver said as he smiled and looked up at the sky, where Mew quickly flew by upon being noticed. "No they don't."
