A/N: This is set in Chapter 17, later that evening. Just some fluff that didn't really seem to advance the plot. Enjoy!
Loki stood out on the balcony. It was dark by now, but the lights from the city seemed to be trying to counteract the darkness. Fenrir stepped out onto the balcony.
"Papa, I'm scared…" he whispered. Loki turned around and knelt down.
"Scared of what?" Fenrir ran to him and threw his arms around him.
"I think there's something in my room…" he said. Loki picked him up, kissing the side of his head.
"Let's investigate, shall we?" Fenrir shook his head.
"I don't wanna…It scares me too much…" Loki paused in his stride.
"What do you think it is?" he asked conspiratorially. Fenrir shrugged.
"A monster, I think. It's in the c-cl…" he stopped, unable to think of the word.
"Closet?" Loki offered. Fenrir's eyes lit up.
"That's it! It's in my closet." Loki smiled.
"Then we shall vanquish it together, and you will sleep in peace. Does that sound good?" Fenrir nodded, resting his head on his father's shoulder. Loki went into the spare bedroom and opened the closet. Fenrir watched warily from his perch. Unsure of what to make of it, Loki turned on the light switch and saw the source of the noise. A small cleaning robot rolled across the floor, gears whirring, and beeping every so often. Loki chuckled a little. He supposed that it had been trying to get out of the closet, and the humming noise was turned into a growl by the wood of the door, and the banging sound was it trying to get through.
"What is that?" Fenrir asked, not nearly so afraid of it now.
"I believe it's one of Mr. Stark's mechanical servants. Nothing to be afraid of, I promise you." Fenrir wriggled free of Loki's arms, and ran after it.
"Hey, wait. Come back!" He got in front of it, and stopped it with the tip of his toe. Loki watched as the machine stopped, and appeared to look up at his son. It beeped curiously, and nudged his foot. Fenrir laughed.
"What's your name?" the boy asked.
"Fenrir, he's just a robot, he doesn't have a name…" Loki chided. Fenrir watched as the thing rolled away.
"Good night!" he called after it, before skipping back to his bed. He burrowed under the covers. "Night Papa." Loki pulled the edge of the blanket a little closer to Fenrir's chin.
"Good night, my son. Sleep well." Fenrir obediently closed his eyes. Loki went over to the doorway, and turned off the lights.
"I love you Papa." Fenrir whispered. Loki felt tears sting his eyes as he turned around.
"I love you too, Fenrir."
