It has been ages (AGES!) since I have updated this story, so I thought I'd update, well, try to update. You know how school holidays are. You're just so bored sometimes that you can't even be bothered to write. Thank you for all the reviews and favourites and follows that I've gotten from last time I updated. Thanks so much :D
19. ANOTHER RULE IS MADE – AGAIN!
Stiles usually was a very happy person; all smiles and sarcastic comments, and jumping around. But lately, the pack have noticed and discussed when Stiles was 'out' – though really, they knew that Derek and Stiles had gone to his house because John was out -, that Stiles has been moody, and sullen. Even Scott picked up on it, and he was stuck in Allison-is-everything-still land. So the pack decided on operation 'Cheer Up Stiles'.
They were planning on surprising Stiles with his favourite breakfast – blueberry pancakes and a cup of hazelnut coffee – but when they only saw Derek come down that morning, head all messed up and eyes heavy from sleep, they immediately wondered where Stiles was.
"He's just tired," Derek assured them. "It's been a long few days for him, so he needs his rest. He'll back to normal soon."
Isaac, who was the most concerned, had gone up an hour later to just check on Stiles. When he was climbing the stairs, he heard the sounds of retching coming from the bathroom and rushed in. Instantly, he had smelt the stink of vomit, and saw that it was Stiles sitting on his knees, throwing up in the toilet bowl.
"Stiles? You okay?" He asked softly. "Do you want anything?"
"Can you grab Derek for me, please?" Stiles asked, his voice hoarse.
It was then Isaac realised something; he had done some research about pregnancies online to prepare for Stiles and Derek – when he had told Stiles one day, Stiles had given him a hug and told him he thought it was really sweet – and he had read the symptoms. Vomiting, mood swings, tiredness… shit. Stiles was pregnant!
Rushing down with his discovery on his mind, he noticed that his alpha was outside training with Jackson and Boyd.
"Derek!" He called out from the steps. "Stiles wants you. He's throwing up."
Derek stopped what he was doing immediately and turned to Scott. "Help them train."
Then he ran up the steps towards his sick mate.
"Stiles?" He asked hesitantly. "You all right?"
"No," Stiles said, his voice rough from vomiting. "But I'll deal with it. I also have to thank Isaac for being nice to me when I've pretty much ignored them all. Derek, it's hard. I'm throwing up all times of the day, so obviously, the 'morning' in morning sickness is wrong. I'm having mood swings; so I'm angry at you one moment and pretty horny the next. Derek, why can't you be pregnant instead of me? I'll just give you the baby inside of me, how will that work?"
Derek sighed and came in the bathroom, helping Stiles up and giving him a hug and kiss to the forehead, before making him clean his teeth. "It'll be all right. Soon, you'll stop throwing up and you'll just have weird pregnancy cravings, and will want to have really hot sex with your boyfriend at god knows what time in the morning. It'll be all right. You'll see. And then, in about eight months, you'll be able to hold what we made. That's the most special thing about this. I know it's hard now, Stiles, and I'm sorry, but we'll get through this, okay?"
Stiles nodded and sniffed. "Okay. Can you get me Isaac? Out of all of the pack except you, he gives the best hugs."
Derek nodded, gave him another kiss to the forehead and walked out.
Knowing Derek was going to be a while, he turned to the others as they watched their alpha run up the stairs. Lydia, Erica and Allison were sat off to the side and got back to chatting aimlessly about something obviously important to them, while Jackson, Boyd and Scott got back to training.
"Guys, I've got some great news!" Isaac cried out before he could contain himself.
"What is it, Isaac?" Erica appeared next to him in two seconds flat, eager to hear the news. Out of everyone, Erica was the one who was the nosiest. "Did you do it?"
"No, no," He said, shaking his head. "Stiles is upstairs, throwing up."
Erica looked slightly confused. "And that's a good thing why?"
"What does throwing up mean, Erica?" He asked, excited.
Scott looked even more confused. Isaac saw that everyone had gathered around now. "That he has a bad stomach?"
"Isaac, what are you going on about?" Jackson asked, breathing heavily from his training.
"Stiles is throwing up and has mood swings!" Isaac said slowly, emphasising on words to put his point across without giving too much away.
Lydia, the smartest, suddenly let out a squeal as she realised when Isaac meant. "Oh my god, are you serious?"
"Yep," Isaac yelped out. Lydia hugged him, squealing in glee.
"Could you guys clue us dumb blondes in please?" Jackson said, before grunting because Erica punched him in the gut for blonde jab.
Lydia sighed. "I forgot you're all slow wolfies. Stiles has a bun in his oven."
Allison squealed, as did Erica as they jumped around in glee. Boyd broke out into quite a big smile – Isaac was impressed, Boyd never smiled - as did Scott, who high fived Isaac. Jackson was grinning slightly, obviously happy.
Everyone was thinking the same thing; give their alpha and his mate a really big hug when they see them.
"Isaac, Stiles wants—" An unaware Derek never got to finish his sentence as the pack launched themselves at him all at once.
Frowning and growling, Derek stared at all of their gleeful faces. "What?"
"Derek, we all know that you're really happy now," Lydia said with a sly smile on his face.
"What?" barked a very confused Derek.
Isaac smiled wide. "We know that Stiles is pregnant."
"All of you?" Derek asked. "How do you know? We said that we wouldn't tell you just yet."
"It's kind of hard to hide, isn't it?" Isaac asked his alpha. "I mean, Stiles has been throwing up, been having mood swings, and has been really tired lately. Those are all signs of pregnancy, right? So is it true? Is there a little baby Derek in Stiles' tummy?"
Derek's lips pursed together, and nodded. "But don't tell Stiles that you know, or I'll be in the dog house. Now, before I got so rudely interrupted, Isaac, Stiles wants you."
"Me?" The curly haired beta asked in surprise. "Really?"
"Yeah," Derek grumbled. "Apparently, except me, you give the best hugs. Go quickly. Don't ever keep a pregnant man waiting."
Isaac saluted and walked inside, up towards his alpha's mate.
"Right, guys," Stiles said, coming down the stairs a little later. "What are we- AH!"
When Stiles was coming down the stairs, about half way Boyd had come along and picked him up with a "Nobody in your condition should walk down the stairs" and a smile. After being place on the ground, Stiles stared up at Boyd with a frown.
"Boyd, what's going on?" Stiles asked, looking in to the wolf's eyes to see if he would tell the truth or not. "You're acting weird. You've never smiled so much in your life."
Boyd just shook his head. "Nothing."
Stiles just shook his head and carried on his hunt for food. Though he wasn't completely sure he'd be able to keep it down.
The next time Stiles noticed something was off with the pack was the next morning. He had been presented with blueberry pancakes, but was told he wasn't allowed any sryup, and when he asked for some coffee when Erica was getting some, she had smiled evilly at him and told him no.
"But you're making coffee right now," Stiles said. "Can't you make me one?"
"Fine," Erica huffed.
"Thank you!" Stiles rolled his eyes and continued to eat.
Lydia opened her mouth to comment, but was elbowed by Erica when she was on her way to get some milk from the fridge. When handed his coffee, Stiles nodded a thanks and went back to eating and drinking. However, when he took a sip of the refreshment, he made a 'yuck' sound, and turned towards the 'innocent' blonde trying to sneak out the kitchen.
"Erica, this isn't coffee," He said.
Scott came in, chuckling away at something, before sitting in his seat. "You sounded so much like Gibbs then."
"Who?" Stiles asked his wolfy best friend before turning to the blond. "Erica, you still haven't answered me."
"It's decaf," Erica said sweetly.
"Gibbs is the boss man on NCIS," Scott said, digging in to the bacon and egg he had on his plate.
"Why did you give me decaf coffee?" Stiles asked, irritated. "And Scott, we've only watched NCIS once before I turned it off because you promised we could watch White Collar instead."
"I gave you decaf because its healthier for you in your condition," Erica mumbled out, before walking gracefully out the room.
"Why does everyone keep saying that!?" Stiles exclaimed to no one in particular. He let go of it, however, when Derek walked in all sweaty from his run. "Derek, I need a kiss."
"Have you thrown up this morning?" Derek asked him, walking over.
Stiles frowned. "No."
Derek kissed his hard and fast but it left an impact and Stiles had completely forgotten about Erica's little comment and the decaf.
"Why did you ask if I had thrown up this morning before kissing me?" Stiles asked his significant other while he got normal coffee.
Derek smirked a little before schooling it. "Because I don't want to kiss you with vomit breath."
After the whole 'he said he wouldn't kiss me with vomit breath and now he doesn't love me any more' incident, things started going back to normal. That was, until Stiles was sleeping soundly upstairs while everyone was downstairs talking about the new arrival.
After awaking to the absence of Derek and the fact that he could hear laughing from downstairs, Stiles got up quickly and made his way downstairs with just a yawn. He smiled when he saw everyone sat on the couches talking to one another. Nobody had noticed him just yet – Stiles, afterwards, had teased them that they were all losing their touch because they hadn't noticed him sooner – and he just stood there for a second to wake up and also to be nosy.
"So, Derek, how does it feel to be a Papa?" Scott asked, obviously getting a kick out of teasing Derek and Derek not retaliating with bodily harm.
Derek was growling though. "Scott."
"Oh, admit it," Lydia said, not really caring whether Derek growled at her or not. Nothing scared that girl; she was as tough as nails and you'd never wanted to be on the wrong side of Lydia. "You love it, don't you?"
Derek sighed. "Of course I do. I'm happy, and I'm getting what I want, finally."
Peter nodded. "I feel too young to be a great uncle."
"Actually, you're getting old, old man," Jackson commented dryly, making everyone laugh softly.
Erica smiled at Derek. "What do you want it to be? A girl or a boy?"
"I just want it to be healthy," Derek said, and growled a little when everyone hooted their dislike for the cliché answer. "What? I do!"
"I want it to be girl," Allison said. "Imagine it; you'd be wrapped around her little finger, and when she'd bring boyfriend's back, you'd growl and frown and basically intimidate them. Aw, that's so cute!"
"I think it should have Stiles' nose," Peter commented. Everyone looked at the supposed to be dead former alpha. "What? Stiles' nose is much better than my nephew's."
Derek's eyebrow rose in a bitch, you talking to me? manner. "Are you being serious right now?"
"Have you thought of names yet?" Isaac asked.
You could practically hear Derek's eye roll. "No. Isaac, we only just found out that Stiles was pregnant; you really think we're thinking of names?"
If Stiles wanted to interrupt, he would have commented on the little fact that Derek had already looked through a name book, and that was before he had even got pregnant.
But he didn't really want to interrupt.
"I think you should name it Peter," Peter said. Everyone groaned. "What? It's a good name."
Stiles had enough. "Yeah, naming it after a former psychotic alpha that killed his niece, killed some people in town, then died, but thencame back to life and now is forever pissing me off? Yeah, great idea." Everyone gasped when they see Stiles come down the stairs. Stiles even saw Boyd twitch to get up and carry him. "Boyd, don't think I don't see you. I'm perfectly capable of walking up and down the stairs like every other pregnant person on this planet."
Stiles turned to look at his alpha/mate/baby daddy. "Uh, Derek? Can I talk to you, for a sec?"
When they left, Scott looked at Peter. "He's right, you know. Scott's a much better name for a baby."
"Nu uh," Jackson said. "I think you find it's my name that's the best."
"Why's that, Jackson?" Isaac asked.
"Because it's my name," Jackson said slowly, like it was obvious.
Scott rolled his eyes. "Of course it is."
While the pack argued about who's name was best, Stiles was talking to Derek.
"I thought you said you weren't going to tell them," Stiles said quickly. "Obviously, you didn't mean that. Why did you tell them? Is it because I'm annoying you and you don't want to deal with me on your own? Oh my god, that's totally it, isn't it! I'm annoying! And then I'll get fat and you won't want me anymore, and then I'll have a baby which will scream and shout and shit and piss everywhere are you'll hate me because our sex life will pretty much be non existent-"
"First, breath," Derek broke in. "Second, Isaac told them all because he had figured it out. And third, I know what comes with having a baby, Stiles. It's okay. I won't hate you, and I'll think you're beautiful because you're holding my baby and I want you forever. Don't ever forget that. Now come here."
Derek opened his arms and sighed when Stiles practically ran to hug him. Tightening his arms, he dropped a kiss on the younger man's hair and smiled slightly.
"Thank you for not telling them I went through baby names before you were pregnant," Derek said softly. "I'm grateful."
"I'm still telling them," Stiles said evilly. "Don't you think you're getting away with that one, Mr Derek 'I'm cool and broody' Hale."
Derek rolled his eyes. "C'mon, you'll probably want to talk to the pack."
Everyone was sat down waiting for Stiles to talk when the alpha and his mate walked back in. Scott had pushed Jackson off the couch after their little argument, so now, Jackson was sat on the floor with his legs crossed and sat like a puppy waiting for a command from its owner. Derek took his original seat by Isaac, and watched as his mate started to talk.
"Yes, I'm having a baby, and yes, I'm going to get very large in the next nine months, but I'm going to make a rule, all right," Stiles said. Everyone rolled their eyes and groaned, but stopped when Stiles glared at them. "No treating me differently, okay? I'm still Stiles and I'm still fully capable of getting my own things until I'm the size of a beach whale. Until then, you will not treat me any differently then you did before, capiche?"
"But, Stiles," Erica started, "We can't give you coffee in the mornings because the caffeine isn't good for the baby."
He looked at Derek for support, but the alpha just shook his head. "She's right, Stiles. You allowed one cup of decaf and that's it. It's bad for our baby."
"Okay, apart from that," Stiles said, but obviously, the pack weren't finished picking at his rule.
"What about when we go to fight evil things, or meet werewolves that come to this territory?" Isaac asked, "We can't take you because it's dangerous."
"It's true," Derek said, getting up and wrapping his arms around Stiles from behind. "I vote that we can keep Stiles' rule, but keep the reasons Isaac and Erica brought up in mind. It's right."
"Okay," Stiles sighed. "Boyd, no more carrying me down the stairs."
"Stiles—" Boyd started to whine.
"Vernon Boyd, are you whining at me?" Stiles said, full-naming the wolf.
Boyd shook his head. "No."
"Good. As you were. I'm going back to bed. Could you keep it down though?" Stiles asked.
Derek smiled a little, kissing Stiles swiftly before sweeping him off his feet and carrying him bridal style up the stairs. All the pack could hear were shouts of 'DEREK! I JUST TOLD BOYD OFF FOR DOING THAT!' and 'YOU'RE UPSETTING OUR BABY WITH YOUR STUPIDITY!'
And, if Derek drew a little baby stick man underneath the new rule, nobody cared to question it.
Liked it? Loved it? Hated it? Disliked it? Thanks for reading!
