I decided to make another chapter since it is the time of giving. Also thanks to everyone who read the story. I hope you are all enjoying it so far. So please enjoy.
I don't own Warriors or Starship Troopers.
Starship Warriors
We continued to follow the tunnel in a slow pace, so that we won't alert any of the bugs. Goldfur was in front and was the one leading while I was at the back covering our rear. I knew Goldfur was a great friend and a great tactician so I wouldn't be surprise if he would make team leader and even have a commission. I know the Lieutenant has been eyeing him for a bit and it was probably because he was giving him a final evaluation before giving him the papers to be shipped out to the academy. Although I would be happy to see my friend become an officer, I would also be sad because I won't be able to see him for a while and there is a low possibility I would be able to see him again, since he might be assigned to his own company. But it is for the war effort and I had little influence on his faith.
My thoughts were suddenly disturbed when I accidentally bumped into Skycloud. I immediately returned to reality and looked in front to see why we had stopped.
"What's the hold up?" I asked.
"That…" Goldfur said pointing to two tunnels in front of us. "…this is going to be a hard decision to make."
"Decisions…" Skycloud groaned. "…I hate making decisions."
"Well we have no choice." I said before padding towards Goldfur and standing next to him. "So which one should we choose?" I then looked at my radar hoping it could see further, but it couldn't. I then looked towards Skycloud hoping he knew which path to choose, but sighed when I saw him doing the ini mini miney mo with his tail. Did he really think that it would be effective?
I then faced Goldfur again, but noticed he wasn't next to me anymore. Instead he was entering the first tunnel, the one to our left, so I quickly padded next to him.
"Where are you going?" I asked.
"I'm going to check where this leads…" He said not even turning around to face me. "…I want you to stay here and if I don't come back in ten minutes I want you two to take the other tunnel."
I was about to complain about his plan, but it was already too late. He disappeared from my sight and soon was also out of radar contact.
So I looked towards Skycloud to see if he was still doing the ini mini miney mo, but noticed he was looking and talking to something. I decided to check what he was talking to and started to pad towards him.
"Who's a tiny little bug?" I heard him say as I approached him and I have to admit those words seemed a little too childish for me. To say it came from a battle hardened warrior is embarrassing.
As I got closer I was a little surprised at what I saw. In front of me was Skycloud poking at a little bug, which was probably as big as my paw, with his left paw. I wasn't sure what to do at the moment, because surely it was safe since the bug was tiny and almost harmless, but it was a bug and our job was to crush the bugs both literally and metaphorically.
"Should you really be doing that?" I asked him as he continued to poke the bug who was now attempting to bite his paw, but to no avail.
"It's just a little bug…" He said. "…what harm could it do? Besides what else can we do while we wait for Goldfur?"
I was a little surprise to learn that he was actually listening instead of goofing around. So I gave a sigh and rolled my eyes. He was right though, what else were we to do?
I continued watching the bug as it tried to slowly crawl away from Skycloud. It tiny spider like feet and crab like claws looked harmless now, but wait till it grows up and starts shooting lasers and biting your tail off. It started crawling towards the other tunnel, the one to the right of were Goldfur went, as soon vanished into the dark.
"I think he went back to his mommy." Skycloud joked before giving a small chuckle.
"You mean the Queen?" I asked not finding any of it funny.
He continued to laugh. "Yeah…" He said between laughs. "…maybe it will…" His sentence was cut off when we started to feel the rumbling of the ground below us. We both looked at each other for a second before bringing our attention towards the cave the small bug went into.
"This can't be good." I murmured.
Soon the tiny bug returned, but this time with reinforcements. Behind it were a hundred, fierce and angry….baby bugs.
"Oh look…" Skycloud exclaimed. "…he brought his playmates." He then padded towards them and started poking every single one of them. As much as the little bugs try to fight him, they were just too small.
He shook my head in annoyance and relief at the same time. For a second I thought that little bug would have brought bigger warrior bugs.
But I was soon proven wrong, when out of nowhere a large bug came out of the shadows. It gave us an angry growl making Skycloud stop his antics and look up. I knew that the two of us could have taken that bug, but I noticed that my radar screen was filled with a lot of dots which meant only one thing. It was an entire horde of them.
The M.W. tactical book suggests a tactical assault to the rear of your lines when in a situation like this. But we didn't have a rear line during that time so we did the next best thing. Run towards the second tunnel as fast as we can and hope for the best.
"Run!" I shouted before bolting towards the tunnel on the right as fast as I and the suit can go. I could see Skycloud, on my radar screen, close behind followed by an uncertain amount of bugs. The bugs were running faster than I could remember and were soon catching up.
I would have fired a rocket or two to block them from getting near, but feared that the entire tunnel would collapse on us. Our only hope to find a large cavern and block them before they got near us and seeing the situation before us, we had to find it soon.
As we continued to followed the tunnel, we saw Goldfur who had just turned around to face us. He stood there for a moment, uncertain how to react to the sight he saw. But he soon realized the situation and started running the same direction we were running.
"What happened?" He asked in bewilderment.
"Don't look at me…" I said. "…it was Skycloud's idea to play with the baby bugs."
"What!" Goldfur hissed.
"Sorry." Skycloud apologized.
So the three of us raced through the tunnel as fast as we could, hoping to find a place to get away from them.
Well that was fun. Hope you all enjoyed it. Please review and once more have a happy holiday.
