Luigi Rush! Part 8: Forest Fire!
A/N: Just in case you forget -like I have been- here is the Emerald list and who has what Emeralds (I've listen only those known to you [the reader]):
Chaos Emeralds: Green, Silver, Cyan, Purple, Red, Yellow, Blue.
Sol Emeralds: Red, Silver, Yellow, Green, Blue, Cyan, Violet.
Tails: Green [SOL], Blue[SOL].
Blaze: Yellow[SOL].
^Angel Island^
Luigi opened his eyes as smoke blasted around him soundlessly, his eyes watered and his nose stung but for some reason he didn't feel any tremendous pain. Luigi realised he was lying down stuck under a mound of rubble and quickly gasped for Sonic, "Son-ick-" he had gasped and started coughing soundlessly as smoke intruded his mouth. Slowly but very noticeably sound started to return to Luigi and he could feel the aching weight of the rubble atop of his small body. He had very bad vision at the moment, not only because of the thick smoke but because his eyes were watering. Luigi tried to wiggle out of the rocks but couldn't move his lower half at all. Within the smoky world a bright light appeared and moved towards Luigi slowly, because of its brightness it stung Luigi's eyes.
"The tables have been turned, where's your friend now?" The voice of the Cat erupted sounding very different to the constant burning noises, Luigi coughed out for help but the light started to move away and he heard the sound of someone walking. Dull streaks of grey started to fade upon Luigi's vision as things swirled and twisted, his head began hurting and he slowly lowered his head in pain. . .
"Hey Luigi! Wake up! Come on Luigi! Wake up! WAKE UP! WAKE UP!" Someone screamed loudly and Luigi opened his eyes and felt the pain return, "Come on Luigi. We gotta get you outer here!" Luigi felt something grab his shoulders and intense pain jolted through his back and lower half as someone tried to pull him out from the rubble, he could feel his spine scraping against the hard rocks. Luigi couldn't make out who it was but guessed by the voice it was Tails.
"Tails. . . help. . ." Tails stopped pulling and Luigi managed to see slight patches of yellow fur surrounded by the smoke, suddenly the smoke blew into his face and eyes -stinging worse then before- allowing him to see Tails as he spun his twin tails around.
"Come on Luigi, help me get you out!" Tails grabbed him again and pulled Luigi's arm. While he did this Luigi tried to grab something with his other arm to try helping Tails but he only found loose rubble and ash.
"What happened?" Luigi choked out, Tails stopped pulling and blew the smoke away again.
"I don't know. I was flying over this huge inferno when the Sol Emeralds began to get hot, I guessed that meant something so I flew down here and while searching for the heat's cause I found you here- blaaa!" Tails was suddenly yanked from Luigi's sight and Luigi could hear loud noises, the scraping of something sharp against metal, the sound of fire and the sound of two things moving erratically. Luigi could barely make out a bright light through the thickening smoke now, said light was getting blocked by something every now and then until a loud scream bursts from the haze and the light walks closer.
"Where are my emeralds!" The light yelled.
"What'd you {coughs} do to Tails?" A hand reached closer holding a very distinct looking flame, the fire was blue.
"Where are my emeralds!" The light yelled louder this time.
"I don't know! Please help!" Luigi begged and felt someone grab his clavicle (collarbone) and push him painfully forward into the rocks ruining what little Tails did and making him stuck more. Luigi screamed loudly at this, not just in pain but frustration.
"Tell me now!" The light ordered and Luigi saw something yellow tackle the light to ground and wrestle it. Because of the sudden movements the smoke moved a bit revealing Tails wrestling against the burning Cat who was still covered in fire. Tails' fur caught alight and the Cat pushed him off and kicked him away as his body was engulfed in flames.
"If you let me out I'll help you find these gems!" Luigi yelled over Tails' screaming and the Cat looked at him as smoke clouded around again.
"You lie! Tell me where they are and I'll think about saving you!" Luigi reached out to try grabbing the Cat but it stomped painfully onto his right hand. Luigi screamed and the Cat left him there, after awhile Tails moved back into Luigi's view and tried to help him out again. Luigi didn't say anything but he noticed that Tails' fur had been burnt quite a lot. (Not lit now)

Luigi painfully stood up and carefully moved his hands over his back and legs to check for damage, he was surprised to feel that not only was his clothes not ripped but something wet must have put the flames out from his body and clothes.
"I guess some water saved me-" Luigi choked out and started to cough heavily.
"You okay Luigi?" Tails asked looking like he had no trouble breathing in the thick smoke. Luigi didn't want to speak but wanted to reply, so he moved his hands to make gestures. As soon as he saw his hands however he screamed and quickly started to choke on the air, Tails however screamed too as he saw that what Luigi had thought was water was actually blood covering his back and legs from the rocks. "Come on Luigi, I'll fly us out of here!" Tails says about to grab Luigi but stopped, he saw the fault in picking him up by the waist and carrying him off. Luigi was going to protest but saw Tails had stopped before he had even started. Luigi grabbed the top of his overalls and held it over his mouth as another coughing fit took over. "I'm sorry but I think we have to run, so come on!" Tails says and grabbed Luigi's arm and ran off through the smoky remains of metal and wood.
Blaze stalked through the burning woods, she knew that the Hedgehog couldn't have gone too far in the time she's been with the others. What confused her the most was how he managed to get onto the island, she had the Egg Hawk but what type of plane did he have. . . and where? If she had to kill him taking his plane wouldn't pose too much of a problem. Blaze stopped when she heard a sound and turned around, a small blue thing flew to her, it was the Egghog.
"Hey kitty! Did you like me coming in and saving the day!"
"NO!" Blaze yelled throwing a fireball at the bot, it easily dodged with some hidden thrusters. "You ruined my chances of getting those Sol Emeralds! How am I supposed to find the Hedgehog now!?"
"Track his droppings?" Egghog suggests and dodged another fireball.
"Get lost! Wait, try finding their means of transport and position it at our landing sight." Blaze looked at the bot waiting for it to fly off to deal with its new orders but it just stared at her. "Well? Go on."
"Only Eggman can command me, and that's even a stretch," Egghog says landed down on the ground, this gave Blaze a chance to throw some fireballs at it/him, he however dodged with some fast acrobatic skills.
"YOU!" A loud voice yelled and someone charged at Blaze from the burning trees, Blaze jumped up and smiled as they went under her and into a still burning tree, she stopped smiling when she saw that the person smashed through it without trying to. Blaze landed and looked at her attacker, it was the red furred Echidna. "You have defiled my forest!" They charged at her again and Blaze jumped aside, they then spun around and glared at her.
"I need the emeralds, give them to me!" Blaze yelled and the Echidna looked shocked.
"You need my Emeralds do you? {fake laughs} Just try and stop me, I've been guarding the Emeralds my whole life."
"You lie! Eggman guards the emeralds from this place! Unless you talk of that Master one," Blaze says.
"Eggman? You're with him? DIE!" The Echidna yelled and charged at Blaze again, she jumped up and he jumped up and punched her painfully in the stomach, the two fell down onto the ground, one gracefully the other with a thud. Blaze stood up and prepared to attack but the Echidna charged at her again, she jumped as high as she could go and the Echidna jumped to her height effortlessly, he again punched her powerfully and Blaze slammed down onto the hard ground. "So you're actually here to take my Master Emerald huh! Little chance of that now that you've told me your with Eggman!" Blaze stood up and saw the Echidna charge at her again, this time however a orb of cyan light exploded onto his back and flung him over Blaze.
"Have no fear! Egghog is here!" The robot then flew over to Blaze.
"How did you do that?"
"I'm equipped with inbuilt weapons," Egghog says showing no signs of any weapons.
"DIE THIEVING SCUM!" Suddenly the Echidna lunged at Egghog and slammed it into a tree with enough force to break through it. The Echidna looked at Blaze and she made some fireballs and was tempted to remove her coat again. (She had found it before leaving the smoky area) "I'll give you a choice, leave my island and never return or face the full force of Angel Island," The Echidna threatened.
"Hey Knuckles! What's going on?" The blue Hedgehog yells coming into view of Blaze, Knuckles and Egghog.
"You!" Blaze threw her fireballs at Sonic but he dodged effortlessly.
"What'd ya doing?" The Hedgehog yelled stopping near his friend.
"I am after the Sol Emeralds to restore my world and stop the evil tyrant called Jeff Nega!" Blaze stated.
"Nega? He's my enemy too you know, how 'bout we work together?" The Hedgehog suggests.
"Sonic, this thief is after the Master Emerald! She said she works for Eggman!" Knuckles growled.
"Evidently by the floating robot!" Egghog yelled waving his arms around, no one bothered to pay him any attention. (Despite being a robot I'm calling it a him)
"Sonic!" Tails yelled running over with Luigi. Blaze looked around noticing that they had somehow managed to surround her (this was accidental). Blaze looked at Tails and remembered him speaking about having Sol Emeralds.
"Give me the Sol Emeralds so Eggman can save my world!" Blaze ordered.
"Eggman wouldn't help save the world, he must be using you!" Knuckles yells.
"Like what he did to you long ago," Sonic jests and Knuckles glared at him. Tails then noticed that Blaze was looking at him.
"Hello there!" The voice of Nega bursts from above and everyone but Egghog looked up, above them was Eggman Nega in a huge eagle. "Don't mind me while I take my gems and take flight!" Nega jests from inside the Egg Eagle (from Sonic Rush), he had a metal covering on the class pod but the robotic Eagle had two flowing orbs for eyes.
"Nega!" Blaze yelled and back flipped away from the others to stand not under the huge mechanic Eagle.
"He's got the Chaos Emerald!" Tails shouts and both Luigi and Sonic looked at the shining gem that was positioned inside a holder of sorts at the centre of the Egg Eagle.

Weakness[es]: Robotic Wings, Escape Pod, Emerald Containment.
Flavour Text: The Egg Eagle bears a large resemblance to an actual Eagle but larger and robotic. The Egg Eagle was designed to combat Tails' Blue Cyclone but is now used as a scavenger robot due to its autopilot abilities, when manned however the robot losses all autopilot abilities. The Egg Eagle is capable of firing missiles from a hidden launch pad in its beak. When flying it is able to activate flamethrowers positioned inside the wings, this allows for the Egg Eagle to either lower the chance of being tailed or to attack unexpectedly. By using a large circular weapon under the Emerald containment the Egg Eagle is able to shoot explosive spheres that explode on contact. The Egg Eagle also has long mechanic claws on the far ends of the robotic wings, these claws are capable of tearing through most stone and marble surfaces. The Egg Eagle has a self-destruct ability that when active turns off all cooling and attempts to activate the Chaos Emerald as not only an energy source but as a electronic circuit, this will cause mass pressure waves and finally an explosion of radiated gas that if fails to instantly kill will slowly kill through radiation.
"Now hand over the Sol Emeralds or prepare to get schooled!" Nega commanded and the Egg Eagle looked down at Sonic.
"Never!" Sonic yells pointing, "How about giving us our emerald!"
"Sonic darling, didn't Tails already prove asking won't work. . . Now face the power of the Egg Eagle!" Nega yelled and Blaze decided to hide in a tree, if Nega won she would just swipe the Sol Emeralds and if the others won she'll just attack them while they're weak.
"Who's this?" Knuckles asked as the Egg Eagle flew up high into the air launching fire everywhere, the fire missed the cast but instead made the already burning area clear of most trees. (Luckily Blaze moved far enough away when choosing trees.
"This is Eggman Nega! Eggman's dimensional ally, want to help us smash him up?" Sonic asked.
"What should I do?" Luigi asked watching the sky for the Egg Eagle, since its disappearance it hadn't returned.
"You're human so you can't do much," Knuckles states.
"I can manipulate fire," Luigi corrects.
"Aren't you human? Oh yeah, different dimension," Knuckles says.
"It's coming!" Tails shouts pointing at the Egg Eagle as it swooped quickly towards them, its robotic wings literally slicing through the air.
"It must already be damaged, see the flames?" Sonic asked before curling up into a ball and spinning on the spot. Luigi looked at him confused, not by his choice of actions but by how he could spin while in a ball without moving or using any arms.
"TAKE THIS!" Nega yelled and swooped at the heroes, Luigi and Tails jumped aside but Sonic suddenly flew through the air into the metal, he was however repelled by a flash from some shielding, while the shielding worked the Chaos Emerald glowed. Knuckles stood his ground and Nega laughed at him. The Egg Eagle was about to hit Knuckles when he quickly slammed his fist into it, the force made the shielding appear but with a loud screeching noise repel him like Sonic. The Egg Eagle flew up high again leaving a trail of fire and turned around to look at the aftermath of its attack; Luigi and Tails unharmed, Sonic slightly hurt and Knuckles looking very annoyed. "And who may I ask are you anyway?"
"I'm Knuckles! I am the Guardian of the Chaos Emeralds and the Master Emerald! More so the Master Emerald! And you have my gem so prepare to die!" Knuckles yelled introducing himself. Knuckles jumped up to the height of the Egg Eagle and flew towards it.
"How but? I know gravity is whack here but still!" Luigi exclaimed after Knuckles jumped possibly fifty feet high. (Yeah, don't underestimate Knuckles!)
"What that?" Nega gasped and Knuckles landed on the Egg Eagle's left wing and started to punch into the shielding, each punch at the shields made the shielding try repelling him but Knuckles held on tightly. "Get off you annoying Echidna!" The Egg Eagle then began to flap its wings very fast to try dislodging Knuckles. Eventually he fell of and landed in a pile of ash. The Egg Eagle looked at Sonic and its beak opened up to reveal a launch pad for missiles, the four by four pad lit up and missile heads moved out far enough to be visible. "TAKE THIS!" The missiles flew out at Sonic but Luigi fireball-ed them. Tails picked up Sonic and flew towards the Egg Eagle, Nega saw this and fired an explosive sphere at Sonic and Tails, it hit and blasted them off into the distance painfully. Nega smiled at hearing there screams over the loud bang. "I have to hand it to that combat weak fool, his machines are brilliantly prepared! Just imagine if he could fight better!" Nega was ignored and spotted Knuckles jumping up again. The Egg Eagle flew to him and whacked him with its wings, the whack made the shielding flash but Nega didn't care. Knuckles landed with a thud near Luigi and the Egg Eagle landed down loudly. "You're the one who keeps foiling my plans! You humiliated me and now Ivo thinks I'm an idiot! I hate you so much right now," Nega says to Luigi from inside the Egg Eagle, Luigi was quite quickly scared. "And now I'm going to get my much needed revenge!" The Egg Eagle's beak opened up and Luigi spotted the missile pad, sixteen heads appeared and with a shout from Nega fired forward. Knuckles jumped up and punched each of them with his fists, the blast merely covering him in a brief cloud of smoke. Knuckles landed next to Luigi and growled at the Egg Eagle.
"You're with Eggman! So you are my enemy! And if my enemies think they can land on my island then they've earnt (earned) themselves a one way ticket to hell!" Knuckles yelled and Luigi could see sharp fangs protruding from his mouth as he spoke.
"My my! Such a feisty attitude for a fire furred shrimp, I think I'll just take my time and blow this island up once I'm done with you!" Nega jeered and Luigi noticed that Knuckles took the idle threat seriously.
"Not with me around!" Knuckles ran towards the Egg Eagle faster then what Luigi had seen Sonic run and jumped straight at the cockpit, he slammed his fist against it and the protective shielding smashed apart like glass. Despite the shielding breaking Knuckles was flung into the burning remains of some trees.
"ARGH! Not the shielding! Oh well, {pauses} take this then!" Nega yelled and the Egg Eagle flew up high and quickly began to bombard the area. Luigi crouched down scared and was surprisingly not hit by any bombs, Knuckles dodged the bombs with his surprisingly quick reflexes and Tails and Sonic were only just returning, with Tails carrying Sonic through the air towards the moving Egg Eagle. Nega saw them and fired a set of sixteen missiles at them, Tails dropped Sonic and flew off. Sonic landed unharmed and ran towards one of the remaining trees with the missiles still behind him, he ran up the irregular, near ninety degree angled trunk and jumped off with enough force to land on the Egg Eagle. Because of being only able to see from the orb-like eyes Nega didn't notice his intrusion. The missiles looped around and locked onto Sonic again, they flew towards him and Sonic jumped off the Egg Eagle making the missiles hit it. Sonic landed in time to watch the blast and a robotic wing collapsed onto the ground near him with a few small explosions. The Egg Eagle, now missing its left wing, looked at Sonic. "You think your so smart huh? Take this!" Nega yelled while the Egg Eagle lost height in the air, he pressed a button while he steered the Egg Eagle suicidally towards Sonic with fire not only coming from the right wings weapons but also from the main body. The Chaos Emerald was glowing now so Eggman Nega pressed another button and Eggman's pod fired up out of the Egg Eagle and Nega laughed as the Egg Eagle slammed into where Sonic stood and exploded apart with a radiated blast of energy.
"You're too slow!" Sonic jested from far off.
"You meddlesome Hedgehog! One of these days will be the day where I finally kill you! Enjoy the Emerald! I'll be back later to collect it," Nega yelled and flew off in retreat, metal panels falling to the ground with some clanks. Tails flew back and everyone but Blaze regrouped near the crash site.
"Looks like the energy has stopped, is it safe to try taking the emerald?" Tails asked.
"That Emerald was used as a bomb, who knows how long it'll take for it to calm down," Knuckles explained.
"It's an emerald, it'll just be a little hot from being in the blast," Luigi says.
"This isn't just any emerald mind you!" Knuckles shouts pointing a large claw at Luigi, "It's a magically jewel of untold of power! If one were to collect all seven Chaos Emeralds they would have unlimited power at their disposal!"
"So the free energy problem would be fixed?" Luigi asked.
"Luckily only Knuckles and I can access said power," Sonic says.
"But didn't that Nega use it?" Luigi asked.
"Sonic can transform into Super Sonic with all seven and Knuckles has some spiritual connection to them," Tails explained with high enthusiasm about Sonic but sounding like he didn't care about Knuckles' ability.
"Hey guys! Just coming here for the scraps!" Egghog says and swooped passed the group, the small robot fired a missile from his hand and blew apart the Emerald containment, he grabbed the Chaos Emerald and flew away.
"Hey! Sonic wait. . ."Knuckles watched it fly off shocked, the bot flew into a tree and Knuckles saw the Cat in it. "That Cat is in the tree over there, quickly get the emeralds!" Knuckles pointed at the tree and Sonic ran towards it, Knuckles ran with him and to Luigi's surprise bet him there.
"Is Knuckles faster then Sonic?" Luigi finally asked Tails.
"Sonic can run super fast but it hurts him from the friction and energy needed but Knuckles can run faster then what Sonic can go without pain. So Sonic is faster but only when hurting himself," Tails explained.
"Should we help?" Luigi asked while watching Sonic and Knuckles climb the tree.
"And get burnt? I'll just sit this one out."
