"Oh, no. Don't tell me you still want to go on with that plan." Miles sighed looking at James.

"Of course, I do. Why the hell should I change my mind about that? Or did you forget what our job was about?"

"Nope, how could I with you as a partner." Miles muttered in defeat.

"Cheer on, Enos. We're going to show those Feds how to work" James smirked pulling Miles out of his chair and leading him outside. "And now we need to find out who paid Cortez to let those two escape."

"Why do you think there should be anyone? Maybe it's one of her friends/family members…"

"Really? Are we talking about the same woman here?"

He laughed on the outside but inside he winced. He didn't know where the hell they ended up but this world wasn't fair, at least not to Ana. How on earth could such a selfless and brave woman ended up as a dirty cop? And what should her fate tell him about Linus and others?

"Fair enough." Miles reluctantly agreed. "Guess, now we need to follow her closely in order to find that person."

"Aaaand it's the right answer." James announced cheerfully.

"Wonderfully!" He said with a hint of sarcasm in his voice. "Why do I have that feeling that it won't be that easy?"

"Don't you know that already?" James looked at him feigning innocense. "You're always complaining about our shifts and patrols."

"While you're always rushing into troubles, Sheriff." Miles spat back making James freeze on spot.

It all could be a great coincidence. After all Miles was the same man, he could simply once again invent all those nicknames. This in no way meant he remembered James tried to reassure himself. In all his life as a conman he learned one thing. If you didn't expect much you wouldn't be disappointed.

"Wait a minute. You're going to send me alone once again, aren't you?" Miles asked him suspiciously. "Forget that Ford, I'm not doing your work for you."

"Not hoping on that." James shrugged. "I'm going to look at it from the other end. Maybe there will be some hints in places our fugitives had been right before being caught."

"Yeah, right...so you're gonna sit in your comfy chair watching the monitors while I drive around in a hot stuffy car all day?"

"I thought you didn't like staring at monitors all day long."

"That's if the alternative is to patrol outdoors not sitting inside a hot car." Miles answered without thinking and then looked at James with a confused expression. "Why did I think about that, we haven't been working away from the city?"

"I for sure need my rest." He sighed shrugging of all worries about his own strange wording. "Once we're done here I'll take off to some nice Island with a lot of hot chicks."

"If you say so." James agreed looking at him carefully.

Maybe it wasn't a coincidence and if this was his chance to get his Miles back. But first he needed a little more information and who was better to get it from than his old friend.

"Now I'm sure you have your car waiting for you."

"How subtle, Ford."

"I'm a king of subtlety after all." James gave him his widest smile. "Enjoy yourself!"

"Go to hell." Miles growled before leaving.

"Been there already, nothing interesting."

A/N: I know it's been quite some time sinse my previous update and I have to thank karivalentina for her help with the story and for our conversations that reminded me why I love Suliet so much.
