A/N: It's really surprising how, when someone actually writes a fic similar to mine, it motivates me to work harder. Haha.

Yes, people... there is another story with exactly the same concept as this one, except the author actually takes the time and effort to make it work.

Anyway, his penname is LiamReyas, if you are interested.

Hwever, this does bring about a new announcement! As of this chapter, I am officially doing away with the script fic format! Yep... As of this entry, prepare for more, new, and better conversations.

Link X Palutena

"It's rude to stare you know." The goddess said, as she flippantly brushed the air out of her face. Although her back was turned to her admirer, she could almost feel the heat radiating from his cheeks.

They stood in silence for a while, overlooking the cliffside.

"I have been watching you, you know." Palutena said, her voice warm and welcoming. "You truly do justice to your legacy."

"So you do know." He said. It wasn't a question. Palutena found herself quite surprised at his bold tone, but she tried not to show it outwardly.

"I know of you." She corrected. She closed her eyes, feeling the breeze blow against her face. For the first time, she wondered exactly why he had come to see her.

"What does that-"

"I've been watching you for a long time." She said. "Yes..." A very long time." She said. She sighed. "Longer than you can even imagine."

He stiffened.

"Hylia chose her champion well." She commented. "I couldn't be more proud of her... of both of you."

He did not reply. He only stared.

She turned to face him, smiling brightly, and bowed.

"We are indebted to you, Hero." She said. "Thank you."

She straightened herself, and walked right past him, back to the camp. Link did not turn to watch her go. His gaze was fixated on the setting sun.

"What in the world was she talking about...?"

Getting to speak to Palutena on her own was a bit of a hassle. Not only were battles frequent, her bodyguard rarely left her side.

Yet the forest that they had found themselves in was nice and quiet, and with plenty of cover and food. Many of the others were taking the time to chat and relax.

Pushing through the undergrowth, he saw her.

"Palutena!" He called.

She was standing at the base of a truly magnificent waterfall. Her head thrown back, she did not move as he splashed towards the water towards her.

She looked completely at peace, and as he clambered up onto the rock where she was standing, he found himself stricken by just how beautiful she was.

"I thought I told you it was rude to stare?"

He jumped, causing him to nearly slip off the rock.

"If I didn't know any better..." She said, as she turned to face him. "I would say that you have fallen for me!"

She laughed, as he shakily got to his feet.

"It's slippery." He said, in an attempt to explain himself.

"Oh, you're just nervous." She said, cupping her hand with her cheek. "Lovesick, even."

She was messing with him.

"I didn't come here to find a girlfriend." He said.

She laughed again, this time reaching out a hand and stroking his face.

"They usually..." she purred, as she leaned over whisper to his ear. "Come to you, don't they...?"

He pushed her away, gently, as he got to his feet. "Enough of this." He declared. "I really do need to speak with you..." Folding his hands, he bowed to her. "Milady Palutena."

She looked forlornly at him. "Speak, then." She said, this time much more formally.

"Earlier, you told me you've been watching me for a long time." He said. "I never even used a sword before Princess Zelda found me."

"So you don't remember..." She said. "I wondered if that could be the case."

The waterfall thundered behind her, as she closed her eyes.

"I have watched you wage war against the forces of darkness for milenia." She said. "I have watched you climb deadly mountains, traverse deep lakes, all to protect the Triforce."

"The Triforce...?" He whispered. "But that's a sacred..."

"You were chosen to protect it." She said. "Now, if you'll excuse me..."

She stepped past him, and this time walked along the top of the water to the other side of the shore. "We must be moving." She said.

He nodded.

"Palutena," Link said. They were on the march again, this time through a vast and empty field. "What did you mean when you told me..."

"About your battles?" She said. She sighed. "Honestly, Link... I'm not sure if I should be telling you this."

"But why?"

"It's really something you're supposed to figure out for yourself. Time and time again." She said. "That's what she wanted, after all."

"She...?"

"The one who blessed you. Hylia."

His face scrunched up in confusion. "Hylia?" He repeated. "Not Farore?"

"Farore's power does rest within you, at times." She told him. "But you are a mere guardian." She poked his forehead with her finger. "Your true power..." She said, as she trailed her hand down his chest. "Comes from here!" She declared, as she lay a hand on his heart.

"I don't..."

"Hylia didn't make you into a hero." She said. "YOU are the reason you are who you are."

He touched her hand, his expression looking off to the side. "I want to speak to Hylia." He told her. "Why has so not told me any of this herself?"

Her expression darkened. "I don't know." She said. "My little sister was never one for explaining herself. A woman of action, if you will."

"She's not dead, is she?"

Palutena shook her head. "No." She said. "Merely vanished. I don't know where she is."

Link was surprised to find a Palutena struggling to hold back tears. Adjusting himself, he warpped her arms around her in a hug.

Shocked, she reached out a hand and patted him on the back.

"We'll find her." Link promised. "I don't know how many lifetimes it may take, or where we'll start looking. But I won't abandon you."

Palutena nervously found herself standing across from Link.

"And here I thought you thought staring was rude." He teased. Had she been staring? She had not noticed.

"I'm sorry." She said. She looked away, blushing furiously. "Link... I've been thinking about what you said." She took a deep breath. "If we're going to find Hylia, we're going to need to break your reincarnation cycle."

Link's eyes hardened. "I can't abandon the Triforce." He said. "I don't know where Hylia is, but she has entrusted me this duty for a reason. I will not move on to the afterlife. I cannot."

"I... see." Palutena said. "Yes..." She sighed again, her green hair swaying. "I don't want to leave you alone, Link." She said. "You've been through so much, and you need me."

He did not say anything, he could not, as she walked up to him, hands clasped in front of her.

"Please Link... my lord." She said. "I won't abandon you." She sniffed. "I can't."

He stepped forward. "Palutena..." He said. "I feel the same way... At least, I hope I do."

She gave a weak laugh. "Hope? For what?"

"That you'll accept... this."

And he handed her a ring. Just like that. Bingo.

"I... Link?" Tears were beginning to well up in her eyes. "What... is this?"

"A proposal." Link said. "You're kind, and beautiful, and mean so much to me. I love you, Palutena."

She stood there, completely in shock, as she stared at him.

"Proposing marriage to a goddess?" She whispered. "I've never heard of such a thing..."

But in the end, she broke out into a wide smile. "Yes, Link... I will marry you. I accept!"
