Lucina X Marth

"Hello there."

Lucina found herself nearly jumping out of her boots when he called out to her. She whirled around to face him.

"Milord Marth!" She said. She bowed to him. "I... what an honor."

Some of her discomfort must have shown on her face, as he immediately took on an expression of concern. "Are you alright?"

"I'm... fine." She said. She turned away from him then. "You just surprised me, milord."

"I'm sorry." He apologized. "I did not mean to startle you. What is your name?"

"My name?" She repeated, startled. She almost slipped. 'Ma-" She coughed. 'Lucina." She repeated. "I am Lucina." She made sure that the right side of her face was pointed away from him, by looking towards him with her left eye.

"A pleasure, Lucina." He said. "You fought well in that last battle."

"I... thank you, my milord." She said. "That means so much, coming from you."

He looked confused. "How do you mean?"

"... It's nothing." She said. She turned away from him, her back to him. "I must go now."

"Already?"

She walked away from him, rather faster than she would have liked.

"This is so embarassing..." she whispered. She fingered the mask in her pocket, longing for the days when she could protect her identity by simply putting it on and calling herself by another name. Facing him... was much more awkward than she had feared.

"Milady!"

She brushed the sweat out of her face as she turned to face the man who hailed her. "Oh." She said. "Hello." She said. She turned away. "I was just leaving..."

He frowned. "But you've only just arrived. I saw you come up over the hill.

Oops.

"I was meant to meet somone around here." She lied. "He hasn't shown up."

"Oh." He said. "I haven't seen anyone around here. Do you need help looking?"

"No." She said. "I'm sure I can find him on my own. If you'll excuse me..."

He watched her go, the frown never quite leaving his face.

"Lucina..."

"Milord..."

"Why are you avoiding me?"

She looked at the ground. "Please forgive me." She whispered. "I... just can't bear to face you."

He stared at her. "Just who are you, Lucina?" He asked. She shook her head.

"I... don't think it would be right for me to say." She said. "But... perhaps... I can give you an idea."

She stepped closer to him. He almost instincively backed away, but he stopped in his tracks as his gaze met hers properly for the first time.

"What... How..."

"Good bye, Marth." She said. "I'm... proud to have met you."

She turned and walked away.

...

I'm not happy with this one at all. My love for Lucina and my dislike for Marth shows, I think.
