Okay, so chapter something, injection I have no clue. :) A few nice parts in the middle but generally sad... Typical... Enjoy *Bows and backs off the stage* Have fun.
Joanna Beth slowly wrapped the bandage around her midsection, taking care not to pull it too tight. She criss-crossed over the large Band-Aids, wincing ever so slightly. Dean watched her intently from his chained seat; the devil's trap was repainted, the chains rewound around his body.
He watched as Jo fumbled with the bandage, almost dropping it. Her arm was already bandaged, a large Band-Aid pressed to her shoulder. Dried blood crusted on her face and dried in her hair, leaving red trails everywhere.
"Why don't you get Sam to do that?" Dean asked softly; his mind was in a different place, wandering. He'd only had four injections of pure blood yet he could already feel it working. And his mind was in turmoil; mayhem and disarray from the pain and torture he had exacted upon Joanna. Every time he saw her breath in sharply or wince, he felt his body flinch away from what he had done. The pain he had caused mercilessly.
Jo looked up, slowly winding out the last of the bandage. "I told him to stay outside," She murmured, reaching for the pin to secure the fabric round her midsection. She adjusted the cloth over her new Mark, making sure that it was snug and comfortably fitting.
"Oh, you sent him to the naughty corner," Dean raised an eyebrow suggestively and that tiny smirk etched the corner of his lips; fake through and through. Jo looked at him, absentmindedly tugging her shirt down and spinning her id bracelet around her wrist.
"So, you were telling the truth," Jo muttered, watching Dean closely and thinking about how Sam had thrown him across the room without even touching his brother. Dean looked aghast, "Of course I was, I never lie," He grinned and Jo allowed herself a small smile to his misfits.
Dean rolled his head to look to the side, at the leadlight window; a construct of coloured panes and lead, all joined masterfully to create the like of an Angel, which one, he didn't know. The grin slowly fell from his face and he became serious. His fanfiction green eyes stayed locked with the Angel's, as if praying for strength.
"I'm sorry, Jo." That whisper, it fell upon ears and stunned Joanna. Dean's eyes had taken on a glistening quality and he was trying so hard to not cry that it made her want to weep. Dean breathed in deeply, "I messed up so bad."
He turned away from the Angel and looked at Jo, "I don't deserve to be saved. I don't deserve your forgiveness." He shook his head and looked back to the leadlight, seeing how the moonlight caught each individual panel and brought it to life.
Jo slowly hopped off the table, wincing as her stomach stretched. She limped to Dean, taking care to not scuff the paint as she dropped to her knees in front of him. She sat up, one bandaged hand on his knee, the other going to his face. Dean leaned into the touch, just as he did before and Jo tilted her head to observe the madman before her.
"You deserve to be happy, Dean." She smiled, leaning forward just a touch to dust her lips upon his; drawing another chaste kiss from him. "We all have sins that must be forgiven." She grimaced and closed her eyes, breathing deeply, taking in the dusty smell of the church as if making a memory of that moment.
Dean leaned towards Jo, not for a kiss, but to lean his forehead to hers, ignoring the blood upon her face.
After a moment, a time that came too soon for them both, Jo pulled away and stood up. She brushed a hand over the bullet wound in Dean's shoulder, spying the melted bullet within. Jo turned and took the tweezers from the table, the ones she'd taken from the Impala, moving back to crouch before Dean.
She gently peeled back the layers of clothes over his shoulder, pressing one hand to his chest, the other gingerly moving the tweezers into his flesh. Dean closed his eyes at the skin-to-skin contact, relishing the feel of it. He barely flinched as Joanna took the bullet out, observing the twisted, molten metal. She put it and the tweezers on the table, finding Dean with his eyes on her.
A glance at the watch gave her a set task and Jo quickly took the blood from her arm, minding the bandage. She felt as though she barely had enough blood for this small task but she marched on. Taking extra care, Jo injected Dean with the pure blood and it rushed to quell his fiery sanguine. He groaned and let out a small snarl when that familiar burning sensation swept him from head to toes.
Jo put the syringe back on the table, glancing at the watch. She brushed away the fleck of blood on her arm then rotated on the spot to face Dean.
She smiled and walked over to him, pressing a kiss to his temple virtuously before moving to the church doors.
"Where're you going?" Dean asked over his shoulder and Jo looked back at him with a smile. "I've gotta talk to Sam." She shrugged her shoulders, gasping slightly when the movement pulled at her wounds. Dean jumped slightly, his eyes watching her all the while it took her to leave the church.
Jo found Sam leaning against the Impala, a beer in one hand while he checked the damage done to the passenger side window. It was smashed from the First Blade crashing through it and Sam flicked a piece of glass from the frame before noticing Jo. He nodded slightly and she smiled, leaning against the bonnet and watching him.
"Sam..." Jo began, searching for a place to start. When he looked at her upon her sudden silence, she managed the strength to go on, "What was that in there?" Knowing the answer was one thing but hearing it from the mouth of the hunter would ease all her fears and relay all truths.
Sam looked away, making to take a sip from his beer before instead resting it on the roof of the Impala. "A, uh, it was a spell I picked up while on the job that Garth gave me." He stared at the broken window, in deep thought and Jo nearly sighed in annoyance.
"Why can't you stop lying for once?" She practically snapped and Sam turned to her, his eyes narrowed and lips tightly shut. "Dean told me; he told me about the demon blood." Jo fiddled with the bandage around her forearm idly.
"What makes you think you can believe him? He's a demon, Jo; they're natural born liars." Sam drank deeply from his beer, looking anywhere but directly at Jo's brown eyes.
Flicking her bloody hair over to lie down her back, Jo ignored the pain from her shoulder and watched Sam, biting her lower lip and tracing the bite wound with her teeth. "He's your brother Sam, demon or not he'll always have your best interests at heart."
Sam turned to her sharply, "Like he had your best interests at heart when he carved into your skin?" He stared at Jo, standing straight, beer bottle swinging at his side.
Jo pushed away from the Impala, "Don't do this Sam; don't do something you're going to regret." Sam scoffed and looked away.
His eyes glistened over and the tears began to trace the contours of his cheeks. He gripped the beer bottle tightly before smashing it upon the ground. Joanna jumped, shocked, as Sam ran his hands through his hair, tugging at the locks.
"What else can I do? What am I supposed to do?" He cried, looking at Jo with such a sad and hopeless look that she reached out for him. He breathed heavily, ignoring her proffered hand. Jo kept it extended as she spoke.
"You've got to keep fighting, Sam." Jo gently took Sam's hands from his hair, holding them tightly. She brushed that hair from his eyes and tucked it behind his ears. "Saving People, Hunting Things, the Family Business." She smiled and that's when Sam let out a throaty laugh.
"You read Carver Edlund's books, didn't you?" He smiled when she nodded. "Yeah."
Minding her wounds, Jo pulled Sam into a hug and his chin rested against her golden hair. He breathed deeply the smell of copper blood and they stood that way; two friends, two hunters, united for a common goal; to bring back the one they loved most.
Did you like? She kissed Dean again! EEK! And that ending... Best ending ever! So.. I think about three chapter left to go... :) They'll be posted within the next week so you don't have to wait long. ^_^ Seeya later Alligator.
