Taming the Alpha

A/N- I hope you like this chapter, it was a lot of fun to write.

You're going down
You're going down down
You walked all over me
You never thought I'd be
The one who's laughing
Now that you're going down

Goin' Down by Three Days Grace

Welcome, Alpha Jacob.

I stood from where I had been lying on the ground. My sweats were completely trashed so full of mud and grass stains, but I couldn't find it in me to care. The growling of my stomach was almost a constant sound and I briefly wondered how long I've been here. Yet even though the pains of my stomach were agonizing, I still didn't care. It was nothing compared to the torture from the Spirits and so I could live with this pain.

"What now?" I asked my voice rough from all the screaming.

You, my son, must go and be the Alpha you were born to be.

"I'll do it," I nodded. It didn't bother me anymore, my responsibilities, because I had found the strength to handle them. The knowledge that I needed to lead my tribe didn't weigh me down nor did it make me feel trapped to this place. It made me proud to bear the problems that were no doubt coming, and it made me proud to be a leader and protector of my tribe.

I wondered why it took so much for them to break me just to become an Alpha. I had never heard through our legends that this was they way Alpha's were given, or forced in my case, the title. Before I voiced my question I heard a deep rumble of a chuckle that was punctuated with a clap of thunder.

Alpha Jacob, you must be prepared for what is to come. The physical pain was to give you strength to endure through what is coming. It also proved your worthiness to the Spirits that you could be shown the visions of knowledge.

"What's coming?"

Prepare your pack, Alpha Jacob.

Just like that Taha Wi was gone.

I roared in anger and felt my body begin to convulse so I could phase. I was on four legs before I could blink and if I wasn't letting my wolf have free rein. I would have noticed that was the fastest I phased since I had become a wolf.

My whole body felt aflame as I ran through the thick forest and I just became angrier with every thud my paws made with the wet earth. Lightening lit the sky as the thunder continued to rumble.

Jake? Embry's voice sounded shocked in my mind.

I couldn't focus the Alpha wolf in me was hungry. He needed to feel the hunt, the chase, for something that would nourish us. He wanted to vent our anger on whatever we came across.

Embry quietly watched me hunt down my prey and I could feel his submissiveness. He didn't understand why he was suddenly feeling this way towards me, but he didn't say anymore. I chased a buck down and I killed it quickly before tearing into its flesh. It was so warm and thick that I quite literally wolfed it down.

Blood dripped down my muzzle as I turned back towards my lands. I tore through the forest and when I was close to the meeting spot, I wanted my pack to come too, I let out a howl. It was as if Mother Nature was displaying my new found power to all of La Push with the lightening that punctuated my call. My low pitched howl resonated through the forest causing birds to scatter.

It was a call of an Alpha.

It was now time to take my rightful place.

Confused voices started to trickle in as my pack phased in. I stood tall as I waited for them to come to me. The power I emitted flowed to my pack through our mind link and they continued to ask questions. When I felt Sam phase in, a growl rumbled deep in my chest.

Jacob, what have you done? He snarled. They all stepped into the clearing I was in forming a semi circle around me at one head and Sam at the other.

What the hell is going on? Leah asked, the pack echoing her question. My ears twitched in displeasure and a guttural growl warned her to not disrespect me again. She quickly got down on her belly in submission. Shock rippled through the pack as they had never seen a pack mate willingly submit to an Alpha. Sam sure could order us around, but he never had any one of us back down without a command.

Jacob, you aren't ready! Stand down now! Sam commanded. My hackles rose at this and I slowly stalked toward him. The rest of my wolves bowed their heads as I passed and I could feel their fear as they felt the tightly controlled rage I was holding in. Not for long, I thought. If he really pushes this then I don't think he'll be walking home on his own. Or he won't be coming home at all. My pack felt terrified at my dark thoughts but I paid no attention to them. They will be dealt with soon.

Sam, I'm only going to offer you this once. If you don't take it... I showed him the possibilities of what would happen to him instead of telling him.

Emily and him being asked to leave the tribe.

You know what they call a lone wolf?

He was silent so I continued my answer not needing his reply.

Dead.

There were two other potential fates he could bring down on himself.

One would be fighting me and then submitting, and he would lose rank in the pack. I couldn't have a beta who wasn't completely loyal or sane, now could I? Only a really stupid piece of shit would take me on.

Or I could kill you. I stated plain and simple. That is if you won't back down on your own.

I'll make you a deal, Sammy. Submit and I'll let you be third in my pack or pick one of the other options I have given you.

Rage seeped out of him into our mental link as he thought about this.

Tick. Tock. Sam, I don't have all night.

Sam, please stand down. Leah whimpered the love she had for him rushing over all of us. The others staggered under the heaviness of it. It didn't deter me from my anger in the least. The emotional overload from the Spirits helped me focus solely on my own feelings and put the others' emotions aside.

I can't let him be Alpha! Sam roared his ears twitching in his anger. He's just a little kid and he is so far up Bella's ass that he wouldn't even know how to begin to lead you guys. He's just a seventeen year old boy, I've been a wolf longer than he has. You think I'm scared of you, Jacob? Guess again!

Wrong answer Sammy.

I crouched down as he moved to strike. I faked a right and then bit into his leg leaving a deep wound his blood squirted into my mouth. His cry of pain only fueled my inner beast. Sam limped away and came back at me, his claws digging through my flesh tearing through muscle. The injury only made me angrier. We circled each other both analyzing the other for weak spots.

We traded each going at each other either getting hits in or being blocked. I let this continue on letting him get me at times to make him cocky. I took every injury without a twitch of my tail and I felt the fire of the flames engulf my being as the fight wore on.

Finally when he lunged for my neck I batted him away as if he were a mere fly. Sam was so surprised that he didn't move which gave me the time to get him on his back. I clamped my teeth on his neck and dug in just enough to cause blood to trickle into my mouth. Not enough to kill him, yet.

What are you going to do, Sammy? I growled squeezing his throat a little before releasing some pressure. He healed almost instantly and I pressed my teeth into the newly healed flesh once more letting his blood, suffering, and whimpers calm my beast. The wolf wanted to rip out his throat for his blatant disrespect to me. The human Jake wanted to give him one more chance, but would gladly kill him if he dares talk to us like that again.

I dug my teeth in further showing him time was running out.

I submit, Jacob.

Good. I bit into his foreleg as he howled in pain.

Don't make a habit of this, I threatened.

It was time for the pack to realize there's a new Alpha now.
