Hey guys! Sorry I took so long for the update! Thanx for staying with me!
-Natasha's POV, Budapest hospital, January 1st.-
I woke up inside a white room, monitors and heart scanners beeping quietly. I was covered in a thin linen blanket. Where am I?
"Ms. Romanoff. How are you feeling?" Doctors in blue coats walked over to my bed side and place a glass of water on the table.
"Where's Clint?" I sat up slowly, letting out a breath.
"I assure you, Mr. Barton is completely fine. Now, try and get some rest." They checked my monitors and quickly left, the door swinging shut. I laid back ddown, my eyes fluttering closed, then open. No. I couldn't sleep. I don't want to go back to the nightmares that I know so well. I want to stay-
My eye closed, and I drifted off into the much-needed sleep.
Cannons roared my ears as Clint and I ran towards Solohob with guns armed at our sides. Burning houses and read people lay scattered around the war grounds. "Hey,Nat! Over here!" Clint yelled, and I darted over to a broken building. I run up the stairs and onto the balcony, shooting following soldiers. I ducked behind a table, reloading my gun with new ammo. Standing up, new soldiers shooting bullets all around me. I shot at them, blood squirting like water out of their dead bodies. Clint's eyes suddenly widened as he yelled, "Nat, run!" I turned around and instantly my body felt like it was on fire. My hand were covered with blood. Shit. I was shot. Falling to the floor, a scream escaped my lips.
I woke up with a start, sweat beading on my forehead. I looked down at my army uniform, and my hand brushed over my stomach. I flinched, fitting up and running out the door. I need to find Clint. "Natsha!" I turned. Tony stares down at me, his eyes looking into mine.
"Where's Clint?" I snarled at him as the rest of the Avengers came up behind me.
"C'mon, Natasha, let's take you back to the tower." Steve rapped his arms around me, pulling me towards the exit. I struggled against him, but I was tired and I couldn't fight off his arms.
Steve pulled me out of the hospital, despite all the doctors orders and commands. The Avengers followed, hopping into a small plane. I was placed on a soft bed with a small blanket. "Where's Clint?" I repeated desperately. I didn't want to be without my partner, my Clint, who showed me how to find myself. I can't live without him.
Steve sighed and pulled me into his arms. "Tasha, I-"
"No! Steve, I need to know! He's my partner. Please, Steve, please."
"Okay, but.. you might not like it." He sighed. " He- He left yesterday for New Mexico. For war. I'm sorry."
I scrunched up my face. "Why didn't he tell me! I hate him! He's gonna die without me, I need to go over there! Help me!" Steve shook his head and pulled me closer as my vision became blurry.
-Clint's POV, New Mexico, October 3rd.-
It's been nine months since Budapest, and I finally get to go see Nat. I hope she's not mad at me for no telling her, but she was in so much pain.. I didn't want to hurt her even more then she already was.
I was on my room, packing what little I brought with me when the door freaked open. "General, your planes here."
"Thanks, soldier." I saluted to him, grabbing my bags and walking out into the morning light. The plane was very small, enough space for 10 people. I got on and sat down on an empty window seat.
"We will be at our destination in about 2 hours max." The captain's voice blasted out of the loud speaker.
I stared out the window, clouds flying pass as the plane flew steadily into the sagging horizon. 'Nat,' I thought, my heart besting faster. 'Why did I leave you? Oh Shit. I hope she doesn't hate me.' The thought of her hating me made me shiver. Why did I leave? I yawned, forcing my eyelids to stay open. I can't sleep now... well, maybe for a little while. I shut my eyes, drifting into cold sleep.
"Mr. Barton," the door opened to Nat's hospital room, which I was in. "Your needed in New Mexico. We have your suitcases in my car."
I sat forward in my comfy leather chair. "Already? You promised to send me afyer Tasha got better, not before!"
"I'm sorry, Clint. But duty calls. I'll be out in the van. You have 5 minutes be for I drag you out." The doctor left, leaving the room uncomfortably silent. I ran my hand through Natasha's orange hair, placing a gentle kiss on her forehead.
"I'll be back soon, Nat, please don't hate me." And with that, I walk out the door and into the while hallways of the emergency room.
-Natsha's POV, Avengers Tower, November 14-
It's been 10 months since I left Budapest, and Tony was pacing in front of me in the living room. "What does it take to get you to smile? It's been like what, 2 weeks since I last saw that smile on your face?" He looked at Steve, who was sitting next to me on the grassy green couch that smelled like Pepper.
"Tony, leave her alone. She's went through a lot." Steve's voice shook as he placed his arm around me and pulled me towards him slowly. Surprisingly, I let him.
"Duh. Who are you, Captain Obvious?" He turned and faced me. "Oh wait, you ARE Captain Obvious!" Knock, knock! The pounding at the door made our instincts kick in. We all got up, making our way across the floor to the doorway. Steve looked through the peephole, and then unattached the metal lock. I stepped forward, and a familiar face with blonde military-styled hair and blue eyes filled my memory. My feet hit the hard steps, and I stood outside in the cool morning air as I blew in my face.
"Clint."
