A\N Hi! UPDATE! Just going to say that after this one there are around 5-6 chapter left, approximately. So yeah, around 70% of the story is finished. Next chapter will be either the big one, or cut in two. Also i have no idea how soon i can write it, since my free time is fading away more and more with each day.
And as always

Chapter 13
Trapped
"OK, that's my plan." Monique unfolded a Mall map on the lunch table. "First step: test run through all shops marked red, second step: the same but with the ones marked blue, if we manage to make it in 3 hour limit, then we will also check yellow ones, if not, we go to the third step…"
"Holy mackerel …" Ron bit a cold cafeteria pizza. "Is it necessary to go so far just to buy a dress?"
Monique threw an evil stare, making him almost choke on that pizza.
"Just a dress?" she hissed through her teeth. "It's only 2 weeks before the Prom! And before you ask that stupid question: no, the one they have are no good! It must be new and stunning for such occasion."
"It's a girl thing." Shena looked at him apologetically.
"Yeah Ron, you won't understand it." Kim added.
Ron sighed and continued to chew his pizza quietly, while Monique continued with her plan. For him Prom dance wasn't that important. At least not as much as for Monique. He didn't even have a date to go. Asking Kim would be too awkward, Shena is out of the question too. He was going to ditch the event what so ever. Of course he won't tell it to Monique, especially now, or his head will be torn from his body the most brutal way.
"With this plan we should make it right before mall closes." Monique concluded.
"6 hours of non-stop shopping." Shena wasn't sure about it.
"Is something wrong?" Monique glared at her.
"No, no, everything is alright!" she smiled and gave double thumbs up.
"Good." Monique rolled the mall map. "Don't forget, 3 p.m. at mall's fountain. Don't be late! Ron, you are free for now, we will call you if we'll need extra pair of hands."
"Yes, mam!" he saluted her.
As soon as all classes were over, Ron ran out of the school and went directly to his favorite place in whole town.
"How about nacos, buddy?" he asked.
"Extra cheese!" Rufus climbed on his shoulder.
"Yeah!"
His happy attitude was crushed, when he finally approached the place. Light-brown walls of the place were recolored to the dark-blue, and instead of the sombrero-roof there stood a giant sign with letters EP crossed by a scar on it.
"No…" Ron dropped on his knees. "It can't be…It's impossible…"
Rufus started to cry.
"Why?!" Ron asked the skies. "Why did it happen?"
"Something wrong?" girl's voice asked him.
He turned his head and so a familiar curly pigtails.
"You look really distressed." she took his arm and helped him to get up. "Come on, i know a place nearby, i'll treat you something, oh, and your little friend too."
Rufus didn't even notice the girl, he just continued to cry out of his small lungs while looking at the monstrosity that this place become. She led them to a small café nearby.
"Two…wait three chocolate banana custard tarts, please."
As soon as waitress brought desserts to them, Rufus started to munch it, stuffing his small mouth to its limit, while Ron just stabbed his dish, unenthusiastically.
"What a cute little fella." Rica smiled sweetly. "And it looks like you are really bummed out about that fast-food place."
"I'm furious!" Ron stabbed the dessert again. "How dare they close the best spot in whole town? I'm going to call their management!"
"And it will do what? Return the place to the former owner? Please Ron, world isn't that simple."
"Maybe you are right." Ron lowered his head. "But still, it's so unfair! First, no naco at Mucho Grande Bueno Nacho, and now this!"
"Hey, things always change, you will find new place to hang out with friends eventually. By the way, where are your friends?"
"They are picking dresses for a dance."
"Dance?" her eyes sparkled. "What dance?"
"Prom dance."
"Oh my gosh! I wish i could go! But…" she sighed. "Technically i'm not a student until the autumn. I need someone from the school as a pair to get in. Do you have a pair, Ron?"
"Well, no…"
"Can you pick me, please?" she begged. "I'm still new in town and the dance will help me to find some friends, and i really want to go there! It will mean the world to me!"
"Ehm…well, why not? Ok, i'll help you." he shrugged his shoulders.
"OH THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!" she leaped from her chair and hugged Ron, squealing happily. "You will not regret it, here, this is my phone number!"
She quickly wrote it on a napkin.
"Call me!" she said, left some cash on the table, for the desserts, and left.
"Do you think i did the right thing?" Ron asked his rodent friend.
Rufus only burped loudly, lying on an empty plate with crumbles all around him.
Later that evening, a genius dark-skinned boy found himself in a very depressing state. He didn't want to admit it, but he had to. Failure. No matter how many times he tried, there was no plausible way to fully replicate the broken time-travel device. He managed to recreate around 64% of it, but it wasn't enough. With a heavy heart, he dialed one of his friends through the computer.
"What the sitch, Wade?" two girls appeared on a split-screen.
"It's about the device you gave me for the research." he said straightly.
"Did you found out something?" Shena asked with strong curiosity in her voice.
"Yes…i did, sort of…" he looked to the side. "Anyway, i need to know last location of the time portal."
"Last what now?" she raised a brow in confusion.
"Last place the time portal appeared, the one you came through to our time."
"Ow, it was in my living room."
"Good, gather there in 30 minutes…"
"Sorry Wade." Kim gave apologetic, and half-pleading, look. "We are busy for at least an hour."
"Yeah, Shopzilla won't let us go." Shena said with a smirk.
"I heard that!" Monique voice came from somewhere.
"It's ok, just call me when you are ready, and tell Ron too please, i'll double check some things, while waiting."
"You rock, Wade." Kim smiled.
Screen on both communicators went black.
"Kim, drag your bottom here!" Monique shouted near the fitting-room, while holding three dresses in her hands.
"Coming." she growled.
While Kim slowly went forward for another try on, Shena pulled out her cellphone and quickly typed a message for Ron: "Wade has some news about the broken device i gave him, meet us at the mall entrance, 9 p.m.".
An hour later they finally finished the whole ordeal. Monique picked up perfect dress, shoes and also purses for both of them. Her dad picked her up as soon as they exited the mall. Five minutes later, a blond boy greeted them half-heartily.
"Hey girls." he waved them weakly.
"Hey." Shena greeted him with similar amount of energy. "Wow, you look bad."
"Almost as we are after 6-hour shopping." Kim added.
"You have no idea." he tried not to cry. "Bueno Nacho is…is…CLOSED!"
Both girls blinked in confusion.
"Closed as, earlier than usual?" Kim asked.
"No, as totally closed. It is stupid EP store there instead."
"Yikes." Shena felt his pain.
"Yeah." Ron sighed heavily.
They started to walk towards Shena's house, while lamenting the loss of the place. Kim remembered how they attended an opening of Bueno Nacho in Middleton, when she and Ron were in elementary school. Though for Shena it wasn't filled with that much memories and nostalgia, seeing her friends depressed about this change made her feel bad too.
"I could swear that there's some kind of conspiracy!" Ron kept ranting. "I bet that EP is up to something, and i will find out what is it!"
"You can ask Wade to check them, but don't hold your hopes too up." Kim said. "It is business world after all, maybe they just bought the place and that's all."
"Come on. Let's change the theme already." Shena growled slightly. "You are only getting yourself more upset."
"Yeah, sorry." Kim apologized.
"Yeah, you are right." Ron sighed. "So…did you found new dresses for a dance?"
"Yeah." Kim showed a big labeled plastic bag in her hand and pointed at Shena's. "Also shoes and purses."
"Do you have a suit to wear?" Shena asked him.
"Yeah, pretty much." he answered.
"Wait." Kim blinked in a slight confusion. "I thought you didn't want to go."
"He didn't?" Shena was surprised.
"Yeah, he was afraid to tell about it with Monique around."
"Well…" Ron petted his neck again, nervous habit. "I kinda, sorta…got a date to the dance."
"A date?" Shena blinked. "Who?"
"It's Rica, isn't it?" Kim asked.
"How did you…" Ron was shocked.
"You don't have to feel awkward about it Ron." Kim said with a kind voice. "I mean, you like her, she agreed to go with you on a dance, as a friend i'm happy for you."
"She isn't…i mean…ahh." Ron gave up. "Thank you Kim."
Kim smiled, but inside she felt like gears were grinding her guts. She will endure it to keep her friendship. At the same time Shena felt some kind of unease too. She didn't know why, but for some reason the idea that Ron would go to the Prom with Rica felt a bit wrong to her. Needless to say, for the rest of the way a cloud of the awkwardness was floating above three teens. Thankfully they weren't far from Shena's house.
As they entered the place Kim dialed Wade on kimmunicator and couple minutes later a microwave appeared at the porch again. Inside there was a device, not bigger than TV-remote control.
"Since everything is in place…" Wade made a deep breath. "I'm sorry, i couldn't fully restore the device. I managed to understand theory behind it, but there is no technology in our time for full reconstruction."
"Hey, don't sulk." Shena said. "You did what you can, thank you."
"Yeah Wade, if you couldn't do anything, then no one could." Kim smiled to the screen.
Ron gave thumbs up.
"Thanks." smile appeared on Wade's face. "Anyway, theoretically i recreated around 64% of the device, so it might do something, like creating a portal, but without capability of travel through it."
"And you want us to test it?" Shena raised a brow.
"It would be nice." he answered innocently. "Just push the red button."
"Well…" Shena took a device. "Geronimo!"
She pushed the button and, after the distinctive click, a bright red and purple portal opened in the middle of the room.
"Fascinating!" Wade looked at it through kimmunicator's camera.
"Hey, there is someone inside!" Kim noticed a figure, dressed in green-black catsuit, floating deep inside the portal.
"Sh.." Shena's voice trembled. "Shego…"
Darkness started to slowly absorb the room in her eyes. Strength left her body. Last thing she saw was an unconscious figure floating in the red and purple space. Images and sounds started to flow in her head with a terrific speed. After a bit, it slowed down.
She quietly picked the lock and entered someone's house. The only sources of light were the moon, coming through the windows and some brightness that came from the slightly opened door. She went closer, it appeared that it was a way to the basement. Her steps were silent. She noticed dark-skinned , slightly chubby, teenage boy, slouching before monitor.
'Bingo!' she thought and grabbed his neck with clawed hand.
"Don't hassle Nerd Linger."
"Shego?" teen asked. "What do you want from me?"
"Your theory, about creating an actual time travel device, is it plausible?"
"Why do you want to know that?"
"Just answer me!" she tightened her grip on his neck, piercing slightly with claws on her fingertips.
"Ok, ok! It is plausible, but i won't be able to build it on my own, things i need either top secret science prototypes or aren't developed yet."
"I can steal all you need, prototypes, schemata, research data, any parts and details. I want you to build it for me."
"Why do you need it… "
"Doesn't matter! Can you build it or not?" she started to lose her temper.
"Creating a time machine for a villain, not the best idea…wait…Is it about Ron?"
Her hand trembled. She felt like her stomach was filled with lead.
"Am i right?" teen asked.
"Even if you are, does it change anything?" she tried to say it calmly and collected, but failed.
Teen became silent for some time.
"It is." he answered quietly. "I will help you."
She eased her grip and pulled her hand from his neck.
"No tricks Nerd Linger!" she lit her hand with green flame with black dots in it.
"No tricks." he said confidently. "It's a perfect opportunity to test my theory in work."
"Good. Pack your stuff, you are going with me."
Images started to flow again, stopping on the new one. She entered the old building, with some devices and the flash drive in her hands.
"Here. All that you asked for." she put it all on the messy desk.
"Hm…" dark-skinned teen looked at it. "Yeah, should be right…"
"Anything else?"
"Nah, i have enough for today."
"Good."
New images appeared.
"Damn!" she barged in the room. "Princess is on my tail, wrap up, we are moving!"
"KP sure is persistent." teen started to pack the stuff.
"No shit, Nerd Linger. I can't let her catch me, not now."
Everything flashed through again. She was inside some storage.
"Listen here." dark-skinned teen gave her the device. "Chrono-manipulator is charged for 2 time jumps. After that back-up battery will kick in and in ten minutes portal to our timeline will open. Don't take off chrono-manipulator, without it or opened portal there is nothing to keep your existence in the past."
"What about younger me?" she asked.
"She would probably be ok. She will travel forward, it will change timeline, but won't affect her since she skipped it, unlike you, whose existence in it will be erased. Honestly, there is possibility that our timeline will change so much, that you won't even be able to return in it, because it won't exist anymore."
"So basically, i might destroy the world." she put the device on her wrist, and a piece of paper in the pocket.
"From a certain point of view." he shrugged. "Changed your mind?"
"No" she answered without hesitation "It's worth it."
She pushed the button on the device. Blue portal appeared in front of her.
Darkness swallowed everything again. Shena started to slowly open her eyes and found herself on her couch.
"Shena!" Ron appeared by her side, looking flustered.
"Are you alright?" Kim sounded worried as well.
"Yeah…i think…" she stood from the couch slowly. "What about the portal?"
"It closed on its own after you fainted." Kim explained. "Are you sure you're ok?"
"Yes, i am…i just…i saw her memories again." Shena suddenly remembered one important thing. "She was in the portal!"
"She?" Ron asked in confusion.
"My older self…" Shena shook her head. "She is stuck in there!"
"That might explain your visions." Wade told throw the speakers.
"How?" she asked.
"Apparently the space in the portal is keeping her alive, but in a hibernation state, considering yours and hers brainwaves are identical, since you basically are the same human being, her memories somehow found a way to you. They were triggered by meeting with Drakken last time, and probably by the portal itself this time, right?"
"Right." Shena sighed. "Great….just great."
"So. What did you saw this time?" Kim asked her.
"How she destroyed the world…from a certain point of view."
