Chapter 20: Wednesday, My Friend's An Idol?!

"What are you looking for big sis?" Mack came down to the kitchen, looking at me as I searched around the cabinets.

"I'm trying to find something but I think I forgot what is was." I answered.

"I know! This!" Mack exclaimed and held out an egg beater.

"I don't think that's it." I said.

"And how would you know?" Mack asked innocently. Before I could retort back, I heard my phone ringing. It was Rangiku.

"Hey Kurara, are you free now?" she asked.

"No, why?" I replied.

"Me and Rukia are going out to the mall later. I heard there were some new stores opened there. Wanna join us?" she asked eagerly. I turned to Mack who was listening in on the conversation and he nodded.

"Ok, I'll be there. Meet at 12? Ok, see ya." I said and ended the call.

"Man, even though you're finally home you're still spending more time with them than with me." Mack pouted.

"Then why don't you come with us?" I asked.

"I don't think that's such a good idea…Going around clothes and shoe shops…"Mack shuddered at the thought. He can be so cute sometimes.

At the Mall:

"Look at this! It's so cute!" Rangiku, Rukia and I were having such a great time shopping for new things here. We left the shoe shop and went into the music store.

"Hey look at this." Rukia said, waving her signaling us to come over. She was holding out a CD with a young boy next to a piano as the cover picture. He had cool blue eyes and dark purple hair styled in a bowl cut, wearing an elegant white suit.

"Wow, he almost looks like the same age as us!" I commented.

"Kurusu Aoi. That's his name." Rukia said, reading from the back of the CD.

"Oh yeah, Orihime was talking about him. Apparently he's known to be a great composer for the piano and the way he plays his music is just divine. I've heard only a bit and already my heart skipped a beat." Rangiku fantasized. I placed the cd into the music player and put the headphones on. It was true, his skills were amazing, yet familiar somehow. Then we heard a loud outburst from the center of the mall.

"What was that?!" Rukia exclaimed.

"Let's check it out." Rangiku suggested and we all left to where the crowd was. We found ourselves standing outside a sea of screaming girls in front of a small shop. "What in the world is going on?! What's with all these girls going gaga over a piano shop?!" Rangiku complained. We soon got our answer. Out from the shop's glass doors, was Kurusu Aoi! What in the world is he doing here?!

"Wow, man is he popular!" Rukia commented as we watched the teens going wild around Kurusu. As I looked at him, I couldn't help but think that I've met him somewhere. Then I saw Kurusu turned to my direction and had a surprised look on his face when he saw me.

"Come on Kurara. Let's get out of here before we get trampled on by those girls." Rangiku suddenly dragged me by the arm, away from the crowd. I could still sense Kurusu looking at me as the three of us left.

After a few minutes:

The girls and I broke up and I started to make my way home. As I walked, I soon passed by my old school. Wow, it's been so long since I've been here. Maybe I'll take a little detour. I then approached the school gates and peaked inside. Nothing's changed since the day I left. I still remember coming here every morning when I was still living in Karakura.

"Ah!" I then heard a voice behind me and turned around. Low and behold did I find myself standing in front of Kurusu Aoi. What is he doing here?! "Pardon me, are you from this school?" he asked in a sweet voice, enough to make your heart skip a beat.

"Not really, I actually left the school some time back." I answered. Why do I get the feeling that he's inspecting me? "Well then, it was nice meeting you Kurusu but I must be heading off now." I quickly said and tried to leave as fast as possible. But stopped as something grabbed my wrist.

"Wait!" Kurusu exclaimed, tightly gripping onto my wrist. "I'm sorry, but by any chance is your name Haruno Kurara?" I was utterly surprised that he knew my name. How is it that a young idol knows who I am?!

"Yes." I gave a slight nod and saw Kurusu beam with glee.

"I knew it! Don't you remember me?" he asked excited. I quickly shook my head and he gave a soft sigh. "Remember when we were in elementary school, in the music room." Once he said that, I suddenly remembered something.

Flashback

I was nine years old then and was having difficulty playing the flute. I was crying in a corner, about to give up.

"What's wrong?" a soft voice asked. I looked up and there was a young boy, about my age looking down at me.

"I…I'm having trouble playing the flute. And…my test is coming up soon." I sniffled.

"Then why are you just sitting there in the corner?" he asked again.

"Cause it's impossible. There's no way…I'll ever be able to play this." I complained and saw a hand reach out for me.

"Nothing's impossible if you don't give up. Come on, I'll help you." He said in a gentle voice and pulled me up. Still holding my hand, he brought me towards the piano and sat down on the piano seat. "I'm gonna play a key and you'll have to repeat it using the flute, ok?" I didn't know what was going on at first but nodded. He then played the A key and I tried it, but only a stuffled sound came out. "You're blowing it too hard. Try to blow more gently, relax yourself." I did as I was told and soon created a beautiful note.

"I did it! I did it!" I beamed with glee.

"Alright then. Let's try another one." After that, the boy and I started playing many tunes. "I can't believe I can actually play now!" I cried out. Then the boy started to play a simple yet warming piece on the piano. When he was finished, I gave him a clap.

"That was your reward, for doing so well in a short matter of time." He smiled.

"Thank you…uhm…" I stammered, not knowing how to refer to him as. The boy smiled.

"Aoi. Kurusu Aoi."

Back in the Present:

"Ah! You're that boy from before!" I exclaimed. He nodded in delight. I can't believe it! I was actually taught by an idol!

"I'm so glad I got to meet you again." He said. A few days after my lesson with him, he had to move away to England for family business and I never heard from him since.

"Wow. Never imagined you would become such a star." I commented. I mean, I thought he was just a simple boy who loved music!

"Yeah well me neither. I just took a piano test and they signed me up to a star company and here I am." Kurusu chuckled. "So, you said you weren't studying here anymore."

"Yeah. I'm studying in Gotei Academy in Sereitei." I answered.

"Wow. That's quite a success." He said in amazement. "Ever since I gotten a job as an idol at 10, I had to stop my education. But it's fine, as long as I have my piano."

"Yeah. Well, it's good to know you're doing well." I said. Suddenly, the car Kurusu was driving in beeped its horn, signaling Kurusu to come back. "Well, looks like you better go."

"Yeah. Can you give me your phone number? It'll be nice if I could talk with you once in a while. Idol business can kind of lonesome." He asked with a smile. I nodded and exchanged numbers with him.

In the car, No one's POV

"Who was that?" a man asked as Kurusu got in.

"Oh her. She's just a childhood friend of mine." Kurusu answered. The man next to him looked out from the window, looking at the young girl as she walked away. He had never seen a girl like her before.

"May I ask what her name is?" the man asked the young boy.

"Haruno Kurara." Kurusu answered obediently.

"Haruno Kurara" the man mumbled under his voice, continuing to look at her before she was completely out of sight.

Kurara's POV:

I stared at the car as it rode away. I was happy to be able to meet up with a long lost friend. But what I didn't know was that there was a plan waiting for me back in Sereitei that could change my life, forever.
