Chapter 34: Thursday, Halloween Party
"What do you think of this?" My face was suddenly slammed by a magazine the minute I lifted my head from the desk. I pushed away the magazine and saw a sexy pink bunny costume.
"What in the world?" I answered in shock.
"Not really what I had in mind." Rangiku took it back and sat on my desk while flipping through again.
"Just why do you want to have my opinion on that? Please don't tell me Kasandora wanted you to help her make me cosplay again." Ever since the school festival she's been making me wear countless of cosplay outfits.
"What no. But it's a bit like that." Oh boy… "But hey you can't help it. Halloween's coming and we have to find some dashing outfits." Now that she mentioned it, the school was holding a Halloween dance on Sunday. Everyone was talking about the outfits they were gonna wear, witches, princesses, mummies. That left a problem for me since I've never really celebrated Halloween so I have no idea what to wear.
"What are you wearing Rangiku?" I asked. She then pulled out a photo in front of me and I sighed. "How typical."
"I always wanted to try it out." She replied before going back to the magazine.
"So why are you still searching for costumes?" I asked.
"I'm searching for yours." I gave her a shocked face. "Girl I know you're not the type to dress up and I'm not letting you go to that dance in your uniform. So I'm lending a helping hand, be grateful." She said, resuming her search. Sometimes the way she gives help isn't what I would call help.
"Hey what's going on?" I saw Rukia come up to us and asked, though she got the idea when she took a peak at the magazine. "I would have thought you would be the first one to find a costume Rangiku."
"This is for Kurara. What do you think of this?" Rangiku then showed us a fox suit. What is she trying to?! Turn me into an animal?!
At home:
"What are you guys gonna wear anything for the Halloween dance?" I asked the three guys during dinner.
"I rather not say." Hitsugaya muttered as he took another spoonful of omurice.
"It's a surprise for mine." Ichigo answered with a smile. Kuchiki sensei just kept quiet but he seems to have something in mind. "Well what about you?"
"I don't really have an idea. Rangiku and Rukia have been giving me so many suggestions back at school but none really caught my attention. Then I saw Ichigo thinking about something hard. "What?"
"Oh nothing." He replied, slightly blushing and scratching the back of his neck. Though I had a pretty good idea what he was thinking about.
Time Skip, Halloween dance, Normal POV:
"Now this is a party!" Rangiku exclaimed as she and Rukia entered the hall. The place was dark, only lighted by candle-lit pumpkin carvings, cobwebs decorated the walls and a dance floor in the middle shone from the purple and red lights shining on the disco ball. "They really outdid it this year." Rangiku wore an orange witch dress with a matching hat and high boots, while Rukia wore a devil's dress with black wings, horns and trident.
"A devil. That suits you Rukia." The two girls turned around and saw the boys coming in. Ichigo was a Frankenstein, fake stiches on his chest and cheek, dark pants and a screw on his head. Hitsugaya was in a white fur suit and had white dog ears and tail which made him look like a werewolf.
"Just what are you trying to prove Ichigo?" Rukia growled.
"That aside I'm surprised you dressed up Hitsugaya." Rangiku commented.
"Believe me, I rather stay at home then come here. As for the costume, Momo forced me to wear this." Hitsugaya sighed.
"Oh, you guys are all here." They turned and were shocked. A girl wore a white blouse which ended above her waist, denim shorts, high black boots, a navy blue bandanna and a toy pistol attached to belt on the right. That girl was Kurara.
"Whoa Kurara. I knew the pirate theme would go well on you." Rangiku smiled.
"Well, it is better than the other options you gave me." She said, looking down at her get up. "Anyways, you guys look great."
Kurara's POV:
Then I turned to Hitsugaya. He surprised me the most since he's never been the type of person who would dress up. But that outfit…
"Hmm, what?" Hitsugaya asked when he noticed me staring at him. I had to.
"Fetch?" I took out a ball (don't ask where it came from) and pulled it in front of him. Tick marks formed all over his forehead.
"I AM NOT A DOG!" He screamed in annoyance. I chuckled softly and heard Ichigo trying to hold in his laughter.
"Yo. What's going on here?" we all turned to the voice and saw Kuchiki sensei dressed up in a black kimono and white sleeveless cape, light blue scarf around his neck and some kind of hair accessory on his hair. Renji had a very simple outfit. He was just covered in bandages. Bandages?!
"Ah Renji, what happened?! Did you get into another fight?! You're so hurt, you're covered in bandages!" I exclaimed.
"You're wrong! This is my costume! I'm dressed as a mummy!" Renji exclaimed back. So that's it. Everyone chuckled.
"You just better have some clothes under there Renji." Rukia warned.
"Whatever. Let's go and PARTY!" Rangiku cheered and pulled me and Rukia to the dance floor, before going back to push the guys over. The music started and Rukia started dancing, making me dance as well. Soon everyone busted some moves, well Hitsugaya and Kuchiki sensei avoided it. We were all having fun until…
BOOM!
The lights went off and the whole room became pitch black. There were screams but for some reason, they didn't really feel terrified. In fact, it felt excited. I on the other hand was scared out of my wits. I really hated the dark. As I was shivering on the spot, I felt something wrap itself around me. A pair of strong arms. One wrapped itself around my waist while the other hand was placed protectively on my head.
"It's ok. I'm right here." A voice which I couldn't make out said by my ear. It felt so reassuring. I felt safe. Who was that? Suddenly the lights came back on and everyone cheered. When I opened my eyes, I tried to see who hugged me. But all I saw was the three princes. One of them was the one who hugged me, made me feel safe. But who?
"Now people, here we have the Halloween surprise!" a male voice spoke through the room. What supri… Suddenly a loud pop came and soon sparkles and little paper bats fell from the ceiling and surrounded us. Then pumpkins, lined up along the floor and tables lit up in a variety of colors. It was beautiful.
"Like it? Principle Yamamoto always does a surprise for the Halloween dances. New one every year." Ichigo explained. I looked up and admired the floating bats and sparkles. Best Halloween ever.
