"I can't believe Abel is finally coming home today," Dani whispered softly when she realized Jax was also awake.

She had woken up in the apartment in the clubhouse where they had spent the night. Judging by the silence in the rest of the building, the party had finally stopped and everybody had gone to sleep, even though it was already morning.

"Me neither," Jax replied, placing a kiss on her lips.

Dani turned herself around so she could place her head on his chest, listening to his heart beating softly. She had a busy day ahead of her, and she couldn't stop her mind from running over all the things that still needed to be done. Jax's house needed to be decorated, Abel needed to be picked up, and above all she also wanted to work at the café today.

She hoped to catch the stealer soon, because with the baby arriving, Dani couldn't possibly work every shift anymore. If there was no change in scenario after this week, she told herself she'd have to involve the police, it was the only way to solve things.

Dani's eyes fell on the Harley Davidson clock hanging on the wall opposite from her. When she read the time she shot up. "Fuck, is it 9.30 already?"

Jax chuckled as Dani quickly got out of bed and started to put on her jeans. She would have to open the café in half an hour and she still had to get everything ready to open up. She vaguely remembered turning on her alarm on her phone, but apparently she hadn't heard it.

"I'll pick you up later, okay?" Jax said.

Dani nodded, leaning forward to give him one last kiss after she got on her shirt the correct way. "Don't be late."

"I won't," he replied with a smirk.

Luckily Dani had been able to set up everything in time. Lana was going to be helping her out today and Dani trusted her enough to leave her alone in the café for a few hours when she would be going to pick up Abel.

That midday Wendy stopped by. Dani had invited her to stop by some time and it made her happy to see she had actually come.

"Hey," Dani smiled as she placed a drink in front of Wendy who was seated on the bar.

"Hi," Wendy replied, looking around. She hadn't been here since the opening of the café and Dani remembered how awful she had reacted towards her.

"I heard Abel is coming home today?" she continued to ask carefully.

Dani nodded slowly, wondering who told her. "Yeah, Jax and I are going to pick him up later today."

She knew Jax had told her not to tell her about Abel yet, but since Wendy knew already, Dani couldn't stop herself. Wendy deserved to be there at the party as much as anyone else.

"Wendy?" Dani asked before she would go to help another customer. Wendy looked up. "Do you want to come to the party? It'll be at Jax's later today."

It seemed as if her face lit up. "Really?" she asked, surprised. "Of course! I would love to! Only if it's not a problem with Jax…"

Dani shrugged. "He won't mind."

In truth Jax would probably mind. But Dani decided to go against his wishes and invited her anyway. Wendy was still Abel's mother and that would never change. It would be best to be nice to her now, so maybe they could avoid a custody battle later on.

When she heard Jax's car pull up in front of her café and he honked a few times, Dani knew it was time to go. Months had she lived to this moment. Abel was finally coming home.

She picked up her coat from the kitchen before moving closer to Lana. "You sure you're going to be alright by yourself?" Dani asked. Out of all her employees, she trusted Lana the most.

"Yeah," Lana nodded with a reassuring smile. "I've done this a hundred times before, Dani. No need to worry."

"You're right," Dani realized. For how long had Lana been working for her? She knew what she was doing. "I guess I'm just nervous."

Lana smiled once more, letting her know everything was going to be fine. Dani smiled back, put on her coat and headed outside.

Jax was waiting inside his car, smoking a cigarette, his hand dangling out of the window. Dani opened the door to the passenger's seat, getting in. Before she faced him, she took in a deep breath.

"Gemma has decorated the entire house. Everything is ready," he spoke, flicking his cigarette on the ground and giving her a kiss before driving off. "Everything is taken care off."

"Good," Dani said. She noticed her hands were slightly trembling so she placed them on her lap to try and stop the movement.

"Did you remember to bring the car seat?" she suddenly remembered, turning around to check if it was positioned in the back.

"Babe, relax," Jax squeezed her knee softly with his fingers. "I've thought of everything."

"Okay," Dani said, chuckling a little nervous. "I think I'm actually more stressed about this than you."

"I'm nervous as well. Let's just take it slow, okay? Everything will turn out fine."

"You promise?"Dani asked, her eyes focused on his face. It was assuring to know he was nervous about this too. Abel coming home was another big step for their relationship, but Dani was determined to make it work.

"I promise," Jax said. They stopped at a red light. He leaned forward and quickly gave her a kiss before he had to drive off again.

"I love you," Dani spoke.

"I love you too, babe."

Dani felt like her heart was going to leap out of her chest when they returned home. She opened the door, letting Jax in, holding Abel close. A round of applause erupted when they entered the living room and Dani couldn't stop smiling. It seemed as if everyone affiliated to SAMCRO was present, celebrating the arrival of their newest family member.

"Congratulations," everybody spoke, trying to catch a glimpse of the baby.

"You are doing really well," Gemma whispered in her ear, when everyone had calmed down again. Dani turned her head slightly.

"Really? I'm trying not to have a mental breakdown," she replied.

Jax handed Abel to Clay, who held the baby in his arms tenderly. It made Dani smile to see all these so called bad ass bikers fight over who gets to hold the baby first.

Jax turned his head to give her a wink before accepting a beer from a croweater.

"Here's one for you too, darling." She handed Dani the bottle and eagerly she took a sip from it, hoping it would calm down her nerves.

She sat down next to Juice on the couch, watching Jax and the baby closely. This was it now. She was going to become a mom. There was no turning back now.

The doorbell rang. Dani didn't pay much attention to it until she heard Gemma say, "Did we invite anyone else?" to Clay.

She immediately shot up and moved to the door. "I'll get it!" Dani quickly said. The rest had no idea she had invited Wendy and Dani wanted this to go as civil as possible. Gemma would undoubtedly turn her away at the door.

"Hey," Dani said when she opened the door. "Glad you could make it."

"I wouldn't miss it for the world," Wendy said with an awkward little smile.

Before Wendy was able to step inside, Dani put her hand on her arm, stopping her in her track. "Look," she started. "I didn't exactly tell the rest you were coming, so don't be intimated when they say something, okay?"

"You didn't tell 'em?"Wendy replied nervously.

"Yeah, but don't worry. I invited you. You are welcome here, this is my house now."

Wendy nodded and Dani stepped aside so she could pass. After closing the door behind her, they made their way over to the living room. An awkward silence fell when everyone saw Wendy standing in the doorway.

"What are you doing here?" Gemma said, narrowing her eyes.

"I invited her here, so be nice," Dani ordered, giving Juice a pat on his shoulder so he would make room for Wendy to sit.

Jax looked at her a little uneasy, raising his eyebrows. But then he rose from the couch with the baby in his arms, and to Dani's surprise, handed it to Wendy.

"Can I speak with you for a minute?" Jax asked softly after making sure the baby was safely in her arms.

Dani already figured this was coming, and she had already prepared what she was going to say, just in case. If she had learned something from Gemma over the years, it was that always be ready to fire back when necessary.

She followed him to the bedroom and waited for him to speak.

"Why did you invite Wendy here?" he began, just like she expected.

"She deserves to be here, Jax," Dani explained. "She is the mother of your child, whether you like it or not. She deserves to see him. We need to control when she sees him, and the only way that is possible is by remaining on good terms with her."

"What are you saying?" Jax asked, a bit confused.

"We keep this civil, we get to control how and when she sees Abel, avoid any custody battles. We can let her in when we want to, we can push her out when we want to. Keep this up and we could be in full control without any hassle."

"Keep your friends close, but your enemies closer?" Jax chuckled.

"Something like that, yeah," Dani replied.

Jax raised his eyebrows, a soft smile playing on his lips. "You've been hanging out with Gemma too much."

"I'm just thinking about our future," Dani spoke. "This is the best for all of us."

Dani had managed to get Abel away from the guys for a moment to feed him. She had sat down in the kitchen with a couple of other old ladies and croweaters. Here it was a little more quiet and she could sit down properly. The other women who all had experience with children gave her helpful tips on how to hold him and feed him his bottle.

She was glad to see Wendy was talking with Juice. Dani could always count on him to make everyone feel right at home.

"All done," Dani smiled when Abel finished his bottle. An old lady took it from her hand and placed it on the kitchen counter.

"You'll be a fine mother," one of them stated, and Dani could only hope that was true.

Suddenly out of nowhere Jax appeared in the kitchen, the rest of the guys close behind him, quickly running outside.

Dani stood up, holding Abel close, moving towards Jax. "What's going on?" she asked concerned.

The mood of the party seemed to have changed within a second. There was a lot of tension in the air and all the patched members seemed to have disappeared outside. Dani heard the engines of their bikes firing up.

"There has been an accident," Jax spoke. "Clay just got a call from Unser."

Dani didn't dare to ask who it was that got into an accident, but she was sure he was going to tell her all about it when he got home.

"You want me to stay with you? I understand if you don't want me to go," Jax said.

"No," Dani shook her head. "You should go."

Jax nodded. "Thanks, babe. I'll be back as soon as I can."

Anxiously, Dani waited on the couch. Abel had fallen asleep a long time ago and watching him seemed to calm her down more. Gemma had stayed with her while the rest had gone home or away. She too knew nothing about what had happened.

"You don't have to stay with me," Dani spoke. "I'll be fine. Go and see Clay, see what's happened."

"You sure?" Gemma said. "I can stay as well. Clay will tell me what's going on later."

But Dani had a feeling something bad had happened. Why else would they all disappear within matter of seconds?

She shook her head. "Go home. Abel and I will be fine. It's time for me to step up now, be a mother."

Gemma nodded, a content smile on her lips. "I'm so proud of you, baby."

She pushed herself up from the armchair and moved over to Dani, giving her a kiss on her cheek.

Dani had put Abel is his crib, hoping to catch some sleep as well. It would not be long before the little man would wake her up again, crying for another bottle of milk.

Like she always did when Jax was gone, she placed Bruce next to her on the bed. After everything that had happened she still needed someone to sleep besides her to feel safe enough.

The sound of someone unlocking the door woke her up. Dani quickly threw the covers off from her body and got out of bed, tip toeing to the front door where she found Jax.

His face was not reassuring. Her feelings had been right, something bad had happened. Jax took her hand, and pulled her closer. Dani cocked her head to the right, raising her eyebrows.

"The accident," Jax started, his voice low. "It was Donna. She has been killed."

Dani's heart seemed to skip a beat. How could Donna be dead? She was at Abel's party along with the children, and Opie. She seemed to be fine then, what could have happened?

"How?"Dani managed to get out.

"Someone shot her."

A/N: Sorry for the long wait guys :( hopefully I've made it up to you with my longest chapter to date :). So, what did you all think by Dani's little Wendy plan? I was thinking of Cersei Lannister for a bit when I wrote that. It's something she would have done as well haha. (she's from game of thrones if you didn't know)

As always, let me know what your thoughts were and I'll see you next time!
