Hey guys. I'll be out of the country for some time so this is an early Christmas chapter from me to all you readers. Pls enjoy.
Chapter 39: Tuesday, White Christmas surprise
"This is huge!" I exclaimed. Wondering what I meant? Well, today is the second day before Christmas and Sereitei High is holding the annual White Christmas Dance to celebrate. Everyone was so excited for this and the ballroom which the school booked was packed. "I can't believe there were so many students here. How did principle Yamamoto find such a huge place?" Then I saw tree figures running towards us. It was Rukia, Rangiku and Sheriru. (Hope u guys haven't forgotten my cousin)
"Guys you're finally here! Wow Kurara, looking good." Rangiku commented. I wore a sleeveless snow white dress which ended just above my knees. White lace covered the bottom of the dress, a black belt and ribbon choker and black heels.
"Thanks. You guys look great too." Rukia wore a white kimono with purple butterflies at the skirt and sleeve ends. Rangiku wore a beige one sleeve dress where the skirt flowed down and had black boots. Sheriru wore the same red dress she wore at the Shiku party. She wasn't really a big fan of dresses. "By the way, what is this for?" I asked them, pulling out half of a snowflake cutting.
"Oh that, that's for the Snow Ball. Everyone is given half of a snowflake cutting and the boys are given the other half. When the Snow Ball is about to begin, we all have to find the guy with the second half and he will be our partner for the dance. That's why they're in the other room, so that they won't see which one we get and vice versa." Rukia explained.
"Wow. This is so much different from back in my old school. We just had present exchanges and eat cookies." Sheriru nodded at my words. Suddenly, the front doors opened and the guys started coming in. All the girls started screaming in delight once they stepped in, especially when it came to the princes. I admit, even my heart skipped a beat when I saw them. Ichigo wore a black vest over a white long sleeve shirt with black pants and shoes. Hitsugaya had a white vest over a light blue long sleeve shirt, a navy blue tie, white pants and beige shoes. Kuchiki sensei had a black tux with a blue shirt underneath and his hair was styled much more neatly than usual.
"Aw Kurara, are you blushing?" My face heated even more when I heard Rangiku's comment. "I thought so. It's so refreshing to see men in formal attire isn't it?" the others sighed. I was about to walk over to the guys but I saw them already surrounded by girls.
"Well that's a bummer. Let's go get some drinks." Sheriru dragged me away to the food and beverage counter. Once we got there, Ichigo was panting our way. "You ok Kurosaki?"
"Do I really have to answer?" he groaned and I passed him a glass of punch. "I'm just glad I made it out alive." I chuckled.
"Well, we should just forget about all that. Come on, we're here to have fun." I tried to lighten up the mood. Ichigo smiled back and turned to the food table.
"Yes! They made the sausage rolls." His face lit up as he dug into the food. "Kurara you should totally try it, they're the best." I smiled but then became stunned, realizing that he wanted me to eat out from his hand. I could feel myself blushing but a gulped and took a step forward. It felt like forever before I bit into the tidbit, my lips brushing Ichigo's hand. This might be the hardest time I've ever had to eat something.
"Mmmm, this is really good." I smiled, noticing Ichigo's really red face. "Ichigo? You ok?"
"Huh?! Oh, yeah! I'm good. Really good. Hahaha…" he stuttered and slowly backed away. "Uhm, I think I better go over there. See ya!" and there he went. I blinked in confusion then heard Sheriru laughing her head off.
"That was hilarious! I never seen that guy like that! Priceless!" she said in between her laughs. I sighed and walked away. As I walked further, I saw a garden and went to take a look. It was beautiful, there were rows of bushes with thousands of multicolor flowers blooming, trees of various kinds and the moon gleaming down, making the place seem so magical. Soon I saw a figure perched on a tree in the middle of the garden. As I got closer, I found it was Hitsugaya. I smiled and decided to surprise him. I slowly climbed up the tree and snuck behind him.
"That's not gonna happen Kurara." I almost fell off the tree when he said that. But he grabbed me by the waist, hoisting me back up.
"Man, you could've at least pretended to be surprised." I groaned, only to be answered by a smirk. "So what are you doing out here?"
"I think you should be well aware that parties aren't my thing. Especially if all those annoying fangirls are in there. Plus, it's a nice and peaceful place to be." We sat on that branch, watching as the party went on. "And what are you doing here?"
"Guess I too needed a little breather." I answered. "It's weird isn't it? I can't believe a year passed by so quickly."
"Yeah, I guess that's true. But I have to say, this has been the best year yet." I was surprised by his words but smiled back. But then I felt him get closer and before I knew it, I felt something warm on my cheek. Hitsugaya kissed me. I started blushing madly, I don't know why since he already kissed me on the lips before. "Thanks for making this year good." He whispered in my ear before standing up. I was too shocked for words or to even move. "And by the way, you can call me Toshiro from next year on." Those were his final words before he jumped down and walked away. I was amazed. After this whole year, I knew he never let anyone call him by his name, not even Ukitake or Momo. This was like a great honor. I smiled at the thought and climbed back down. Once I reached the ballroom, everyone was in a hustle.
"Kurara there you are!" I turned to see Rangiku running towards me. "Where have you been? The Snow Ball is about to start. You're lucky you made it on time." Then I heard the mike running and saw Isane in the middle.
"Alright everyone. Time for the moment you all have been waiting for. The start of the Snow ball. So go out and find your partner and let's start the Christmas party with a hit!" and with that, all the girls immediately ran over to the princes, leaving all of the poor other guys behind.I then felt a tap on my shoulder. I turned around and was shocked to see Kusaka there, all of the girls were shocked.
"Hey Kurara-chan, wanna skip this whole thing and have fun on our own?" he asked in a flirtish tone. I started to feel scared and slowly backed away, but he kept his close distance. Suddenly I was pulled away with great force and my back came into contact with something hard.
"I am afraid she cannot go with you Kusaka." I looked up and saw Kuchiki sensei behind me, holding me close with his arm around me. He soon pulled me away and surprisingly to the center of the ballroom.
"Wait Kuchiki sensei, where are we going?" I asked. He suddenly held my hands and positioned me to start a dance. Wait, does that mean…
"I believe we are partners." I followed his eyes and saw his hand holding two halves of a snowflake. He had my half, so that means we're suppose to dance together. Then I noticed we were the only ones in the middle. Wait! We're the first ones here?! "Just relax and follow my lead. Though I think you are quite used to the waltz by now." I was confused but remembered I danced with him back at the Shiku party, the time when he found out my secret. But the music broke my thoughts and Kuchiki sensei started guiding me gracefully along the dancefloor. It felt so good, like dancing with a prince, not to mention Kuchiki sensei looked a lot like one. I was totally starstruck. Soon I felt more people come in but my eyes only gazed into Kuchiki sensei's.
Suddenly, I heard loud booms and all heads turned towards the garden, where an array of fireworks were lit up. It was amazing. As I marveled the scene, I felt Kuchiki sensei wrap an arm around me, pulling me to his chest. I could feel his warmth around me and I smiled.
I had an indirect kiss with Ichigo. I'm now able to call Toshiro by his name. I got to dance with Kuchiki sensei for everyone to see. This truly is the best Christmas ever.
