There was only one person who didn't know about Dani being pregnant yet, Gemma.
Jax had driven them to Gemma's house, hoping she would be home. When they walked to the front door Dani felt butterflies rising in her belly. Gemma didn't know about her kidnapping and they had both decided it was best to keep it that way for the time being
Jax unlocked the door. Before entering he turned his head to Dani. "Don't worry babe. She's gonna be happy for us."
Dani knew Gemma would be extremely happy about the news. She was nervous because it suddenly had hit her harder than before. She was pregnant. She was really pregnant. This was really happening.
"Jax?" Gemma shouted from the living room. She quickly appeared in the kitchen.
"Sit down, mom," Jax began, entering. Dani followed closely behind him. "We got something to tell you."
Gemma raised her eyebrows. She never liked being told what to do but Jax kept staring at her and eventually she sat down.
"What's going on?" she asked. Dani smiled widely. She looked at Jax who nodded. "Tell her."
"I'm pregnant."
Gemma's eyes widened. "Are you shitting me?"
Dani shook her head, still smiling. "Nope. Found out a few days ago."
Gemma's gaze switched from Jax to Dani and back to Jax again. It took a few seconds for the news to sink in. When it did, she jumped up from her chair, pushing it backwards.
"That is amazing news, baby," she leaned forward and gave both Dani and Jax a kiss on their cheeks.
The day had taken such a turn. It had gone from the absolute worst, to the absolute best. Jax knew about her pregnancy. The baby was healthy. All seemed well in Charming for once.
Dani raised her head from Jax's chest. She had been quietly listening to his heart beating for the past minutes, slowly closing her eyes every once in a while.
"Something on your mind?" Jax said, responding to her action.
She smiled softly. "I've been thinking," she started. "Maybe it's a good idea to sell the café."
Jax frowned before continuing with stroking her hair. "Why would you want that?"
"It's just become more of a burden than something I enjoy," Dani replied honestly. She had been thinking about this ever since she had come home.
"But you love that place," Jax stated.
"I used to love it. Lately it has brought me nothing but misery. The money. The raid. Elijah."
It remained silent for a moment. Dani didn't speak up to allow Jax to think for a moment.
She personally believed this was for the best. After the raid the café had changed. She had been fooling herself about it all the time. It was as if the soul had been ripped out. It just was not as fun anymore as it once was.
"And now with the babies. I want to be a good mother. I just think it's better if I sell it."
Jax stopped stroking her hair. "If this is what you want, then you should do it."
Dani nodded. "I really think I should."
"Just promise me one thing, Dani," Jax said.
Dani turned her head towards him, raising her eyebrows.
"Just think about it for a little while. I don't want you to regret this decision."
She nodded. "I promise."
Her day at the cafe had been melancholy. She was lying if she still wasn't a bit shook up about the kidnapping yesterday. Her heart had been pounding as she was parking her car. Before she got out, she looked around, but the streets were empty at that hour in the morning. No one would kidnap her today.
Dani sighed as she looked around her café. This could be one of the last times she would ever be here as the owner of the place. Whoever the buyer was probably would turn it into a Starbucks.
She had taken on Jax advice and decided to think about it some more, but with every minute spent in the café she realized she really did want to sell it.
She wanted to be there when her children took their first steps, hear their first words. She didn't want Abel and her newborn to grow up in Gemma's arms because she was always working. Dani vowed not the be that kind of mom.
When it was finally time to go home she quickly closed up. She couldn't wait to go home, see Jax, and just spent time together. The sooner she parted with this café, the better it was.
Dani opened the front door. She had seen Jax's bike in the driveway yet she didn't hear him when she called out that she was home.
"Jax?" she tried again. Dani quickened her pace and followed the hallway into the kitchen, where she found him sitting on the table, a first aid kid in front of him.
She let out a sigh of relief when she saw him. "For a moment I thought you had been kidnapped."
Instead of chuckling and greeting her, Jax didn't even look up. His eyes were fixed on his arm.
When Dani saw the cut on his arm she quickly rushed forward and kneeled besides him, taking his arm into her hands.
"Oh my god, Jax," she spoke, taking in the size of the cut. "What happened?"
She looked up into his eyes, only to see both his eyes were battered and bruised. There was dried up blood under his nose and his shirt was covered in tiny blood splatters as well.
"Got into a fight," he replied.
"I can see that," Dani said. She took over the cloth and continued dabbing the cut on his arm clean."With who?"
"Salazar."
Dani's heart stopped beating. Salazar? The guy who tried to have her killed by the Mayans?
"Retaliation?" she tried.
Jax nodded in silence.
"Is he dead?" Dani continued to ask carefully, her eyes fixed on the cut.
Jax shook his head, before saying. "Not yet."
A/N: What do you guys think about Dani's decision? Oh, and just a heads up. Someone who is still alive in the series will die in next chapter ;)
