The Twins POV
Kaoru schemingly eyed his twin to the right, and then then waited for the chance to leave the room. It was convenient enough that their eyes met at the same time letting the two know that they were both thinking the same thing. Hikaru's face held a smirk gaining Kyoya's attention. They had an act for "telepathy". Of course it wasn't real, but they knew each other well enough to almost call it that.
Joceline had left just recently to go to the restroom, and soon after Orange Hair followed her. 'Why is that?' Kaoru asked himself while his twin acknowledged his gaze. The remark she had made was unusual for her, but it was a sign that she was opening up to more people which pleased the boss greatly. Kyoya, on the other hand, was just happy to get paid. That boy looked irritated though, but when Hikaru caught a glimpse of his eyes there seemed to be a glint of fear.
The King was off again once the grey haired boy came back. He wanted to know about their estate and then tried to compare it to his back home. They saw Haruhi cover her face with one hand while the other rested on her crossed legs. It made Hikaru smile and fight the urge to chuckle.
"So, Yuki!" Tamaki pulled him aside and forced the boy down beside him. "What's you social standing at...Kaibara High is it?"
The boy looked reluctant to reply, but soon agreed to answer. "I am the Student Council President."
The Boss's eyes widened as he asked one question right after another. The two took this chance to leave. "Hikaru, may I talk to you for a second?" Kaoru asked as his twin shrugged and went along.
"Yeah, sure."
They followed each other out the door both with hands shoved down inside their pockets. Kyoya's gaze followed them out. The entry was right there, so they had no problem finding the way to their room. It was right across the room and down the hall to the right. It went right past Joceline's room, so maybe they would find her coming back. 'She probably got lost like last time.' Hikaru thought, remembering what Haruhi had told them.
Soon after walking a while they got past the game room, and voices began to come from around the corner in their direction. Orange Hair's voice came loudly like a shout from down the hallway. The two crept closer.
Peaking around the sharp corner, the voices suddenly became quiet. Finally they were able to match the other with a face though. It was Joceline, and seeing the two together made the twins mischievously grin at each other. They were right, because Joceline seemed to be coming back. Although, it was obvious that she had went the wrong way once again. Orange Hair had followed her, and they both leaned in to listen.
"Why did you call me that?" He asked her, and Kaoru noticed her easily rubbing her shoulder.
Hikaru smiled, "Looks like the fire starter has her cornered."
The girl looked towards the ground not moving for a long time. She seemed scared, but more ashamed than anything else. For a second they wondered if she would say anything, and Kaoru thought twice about going over there. They didn't understand why he had her cornered nor why he was acting so threatening towards her. "Surely he's not that touchy." Kaoru said to his brother who nodded.
They had both seen him fighting Haru earlier, and it wasn't as if he was afraid of anything. It's not like everyone in their family had split personalities. They flinched when she suddenly looked back up looking a little stronger than normal.
"I don't know..." Her voice came out quiet and little, "It was just a joke. I-I hadn't meant to...insult you or anything. I still haven't perfected the idea of formality here yet...so...if it was an insult to y-you or your f-family...I am sorry!"
Hikaru admired her backbone. It was a lot for her to speak up against anyone. Based on the "bio" Kyoya was given, she had a history with bullies and being picked on. It wouldn't surprise him if she fainted after that.
They watched Orange Hair turn away, "Like hell I'd care."
A laugh came from the dining room, and they recognized it as Haruhi and Tohru's mixed voices. Kyo looked their way and they froze seeing his eyes fearlessly on theirs. It was freaky.
Seeing his face go from boredom, to surprise, to anger gave them a run for their lives. Although, they weren't scared, they found it funny. Kaoru even heard Hikaru mistakenly taunt him to chase them. 'Hikaru, stop it!' He thought seeing his brother shout once more. It didn't help the fact that Joceline was being threatened by a guy, and it angered him to see that that boy had put a hand on her.
"Guys just don't do that!" He said as they came to a stop just outside the dining room. The others were still talking oblivious to what had just happened. The two glanced at each other and Hikaru's head tilted to the side.
His brother blinked once, "What did you say, Kaoru?"
The boy shook his head and forced a laugh dismissing the whole thing. That's when Tohru saw them and called them over to sit back down. The two nodded and quickly exchanged sudden serious glances at each other. They would have to tell The Boss about their findings later.
Kyo's POV
The girl had a gaze that instantly made me want to go return back to the mountains and train once more. That stupid glare of light in her eyes; the idiotic way she talked. It was as if she knew nothing at all! Not that it would surprise me. Everything about her irritated me, and now I was fixing to get to the truth. There was no way she would say that without knowing. No way in hell.
With that damn rat acting so friendly it would only have been a matter of time before one of those jerks found out. 'Especially those twins.' Yuki was in the back office phoning Hatori who would probably be here soon. Once I hear her say the words, I'll tell Tohru to tell him and this girls memory will be wiped like a clean slate of glass. It's the only thing that man is good for. Seeing the look of fear in her eyes I uneasily let go.
In an instant, her right hand came up and rubbed her shoulder which was probably throbbing from my grip. She let out a hoarse cough. My eyes gazed down at her leg as she rubbed the red circle almost scratching a whole layer of skin off. I winced but quickly sucked in a breath.
"Why did you call me that?" I demanded once more, and I saw a hint of confusion on her face.
She began to stand back up straight, and there were still tiny drops of water in her tear ducts. I watched her put on a brave face.
"I don't know..." Her voice came out little, "It was just a joke. I-I hadn't meant to...insult you or anything. I still haven't perfected the idea of formality here yet...so...if it was an insult to y-you or your f-family...I am sorry!"
There was a red mark where my hand once was, and I felt guilt swell up inside of me. But I ignored it, because I was a monster. Monsters aren't supposed to feel.
I gripped my fists and turned away, "Like hell I'd care."
My voice came out loud, and I checked back to make sure no one had heard me. She flinched. As I felt my teeth and jaw tighten the air in the room grew thick. I heard that idiot blondies laugh back in the room. They were all stupid.
Joceline followed my gaze and a smile almost cracked across her face. A hint of teeth showed through a small gap between her lips, and I could see her eyes easily light up. Tohru's giggle echoed down the hall and I tried to keep my focus.
Those Ouran kids were trouble. I had no idea why they chose to go to this spa so far away from their city, and why they took her if she wasn't even a part of the group. There is no way that spoiled rich kids would care for someone like her. 'Then again, she didn't really say that she wasn't rich like them.'
I took another second to look and saw a spurt of orange hair. The head came into view next along with another right above it. Utter surprise filled my face as I noticed the two idiot standing there waiting for my next sentence. My head filled with anger as I motioned towards them.
"Hey, you-"
Then they were gone and I heard one of them yell back for me to come "catch them." 'Are they drunk or something?' No damn way am I going to chase their sorry asses. I will catch them later though. "Bastards!"
When that word left my mouth, I heard her gasp from behind me. I didn't meet her gaze. She was another Tohru, and it took her months to get used to my language. I sighed, "You didn't just hear that... Got it?" She nodded, and then looked away. "And that's why you called me that?"
She didn't call me that just because she felt like it. It's a family thing and only the ones that are cursed get it. How the hell did she find it funny?
"I thought it was cute." She finally said, referring to that damn rats saying for me. Her wrists then began to shake. "And...why are you so touchy about that? I-It's just a joke...and...I swear I didn't mean it in any other way!"
I stared at her, which probably looked more like a glare to anyone else, and shoved my hands in my side pockets. My shoelaces had loosened from jumping off the roof. I felt my heel slide in the shoe as I turned to walk away.
"Just quit being stupid." I muttered just loud enough for her to hear this time. "And don't repeat everything you hear."
Behind me I heard a shuffle of her feet as she turned to face me who was quietly ending the conversation at that. I would have to be watching myself with those two dumbasses from now on. I heard her walk away just as I had in the other direction and I sucked in another deep breath. She didn't know obviously.
But that's alright, her memory doesn't need to be erased anyways.
The Next Day: Joceline's POV
"Welcome to my life..." I sang pulling the brush through my dark brown hair. Haruhi was waiting for me in the other room entertaining Tohru with her latest mishap stories. I could hear them laughing through the door.
While they listened to Girls Dead Monster, I listened to my Simple Plan. Being in the cozy, warm bathroom where no one could hear me it was ideally the best place for singing. Of course I sang quietly though; I really hoped they couldn't hear me. Nothing would be more embarrassing or humiliating. I had absolutely no clue whose room was right next to mine, but the rooms have thick walls, hopefully, so I should be alright. There was a loud bang from the other side making me almost drop my brush. I sighed.
It was now the third day here, and I already managed to tick off another person. What did I say to make Kyo so mad yesterday? Yuki calls him a "stupid cat" all the time! It's just a joke, and not an inside joke...I don't think. Besides, who gets so worked up over a little teasing?
Letting out a gasp I quickly caught my brush before it almost hit the floor once again.
'What if something happened that made cats a touchy subject?' I thought, imagining a kitten lying dead in the forest, then I put the part through to the back of my head. "Well, it's too late now whatever it was."
I opened the door to see those two laughing immensely over a song about teenagers when exercising. It was a kids rap, and I laughed hearing it mention falling flat on an oversized treadmill. That happened to me when I was a kid, and after the bruise healed I will admit that I found it quite funny. Of course, I never got on one again, and seeing the exercise room down the hall just radiated effort that I was unwilling to give.
Tohru laughed after hearing this then shrunk back, "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to make it sound like I was making fun of you."
"Oh no!" I said holding back the giggle, "I laugh about it too, and it was my fault for getting on it when my parents told me not to."
Now that I think about it, she is kind of close to Kyo. Maybe, just maybe, I could get something out of her...an explanation on his actions. But that's rude. BEYOND rude. I should just keep it to myself and let things play along.
"Joceline," Haruhi suddenly outburst, "did something happen yesterday? You seem a bit off."
The hostess leisurely came in with her regular routine offering us a fresh, cooked breakfast, and of course we said yes as our aching stomachs growled. Haruhi was the first out into the hallway dreaming of whatever "rich people" food they were serving. I let out a soft giggle.
I know her favorite food is crab, but after yesterday it was pretty obvious, seeing Tamaki's expression after I quickly chewed, that the crab rangoon was the best. Glancing down at my stomach I sighed, One day I will finally go on that diet.
With the way everything is cooked here I have lost a little weight. Going from one-sixty to one-fifty has its perks. Even so, I still want to be down to one-thirty before I go back home. Everyone will be shocked to see me multiple sizes smaller. Especially those who picked on me.
"I can't wait..." I muttered to myself as we followed the hostess down the corridors. Haruhi looked back.
"Did you say something, Joceline?" She asked with a pleasant smile. I shook my head before entering the dining area.
Everyone was already up, making me feel lazy and selfish for keeping them waiting. Yuki sweetly greeted us as Tohru took a seat next to him while Haruhi stuck with me. Although, I think she did this on purpose because I ended up next to Tamaki who was happily boasting his accomplishments to Haru. Although he looked as if he wanted to tape his mouth shut he stayed silent politely listening without a sound.
I suspected he'd say something about it any second. Everyone has a limit, and judging from what I saw yesterday he has very little. Maybe if I slowly inch away I would be safe from the attack. I heard Haruhi dully speak to Kyo. Speaking of Kyo...
Glancing to my left I saw her look across the table at him irritatedly. His eyes averted from her gaze meeting mine. My cheeks became hot and I felt myself flush. That awkward scene from yesterday filled my mind.
His eyes were red but had that tint of brown that made the strangest blend. I have never noticed a persons eyes before- Probably because I'm so busy trying not to. Kyo looked at me with awkward yet harsh distrust. Our conversation from yesterday could be the reason. It confused me, because I really had no idea what he was talking about. Hikaru eyed me accusingly, but he had this scheming smirk.
"Can I help you?" My voice came out kind, I hoped anyways, as I tried to drown out the irritation flooding out of my tense voice.
"No," He stated as Kaoru smiled and finished on que finished his sentence, "just curious."
"About what?"
I jumped as I felt a strong vibration from the table under me. Kyo's fist landed hard on its surface. "Hey, mind your own damn business!"
I gasped as the twins smiles grew. Haruhi placed her hand on my shoulder and told the three to calm down. My stomach growled which made Tohru giggle. I took a piece of...whatever it was, and stuck it in my mouth. It was good and I helped myself slowly to more. Haruhi grinned.
There was a clap from Tamaki and I felt him lean towards me, "So, Joceline, my friends tell me you are enjoying your stay. Is that true?"
I quickly nodded with a smile, " Yes, thank you very much for taking me!"
I felt all eyes go one me except for Kyo, and Tohru leaned in whispering something to him. Tamaki continued.
"So no one has been giving you a hard time?"
This caused Kyo to freeze mid-sentence with Tohru, and I saw a smile come across Tamaki's face. I shook my head reassuring him of my happiness. That's when he asked about me going back to America.
It wasn't that I hated it here, but like I said I get home sick easily. I hardly know the food here or the customs and I've already been here for so long. Honestly, I don't think I'll ever learn. I probably should tell him this later.
"Yeah, I am leaving soon. In a couple of weeks actually." I said and sighed, "But I've made a lot of friends here. So I might just come back and visit."
"We will also try to visit you, won't we guys?" Haruhi said happily. I saw Kyo's eyes raise up and meet mine making me look away back at Tamaki and the twins who all held the same expression.
There was a voice from the entryway, and I heard a deep voice greet the hostess. I heard Momiji squeal with excitement. "Hari!" Most of the Sohma's took that chance to leave and greet the man. The rest of us followed in behind.
When I saw him, I was surprised to see a very young man with black hair that covered his left eye. He was in a white coat which reminded me of a lab coat, and I saw a briefcase in his hand. 'So, this is Hatori Sohma.' I thought to myself.
He immediately looked at me, and then at my leg where my spider bite was covered with a bandage. One second later he was getting out supplies, and I saw a needle with some medicine being brought out. I leaned against Haruhi to keep myself from fainting.
*Thank you to all those who left comments. I wrote this a while back, so I have several more chapter already written. Ironies I will get to the POV's of all the characters though! I'm going to be stumped when I get to Mori's lol. Have a nice day or night wherever you are!
