Chapter 51
Naruto
I was honestly glad that Neji left after helping me with all my math homework. Granted it took us three hours just to get it all finished, but now I was caught up and ready to go back to school tomorrow. Of course, I've missed a great deal of the first quarter and second quarter was nearly coming to an end. I'm just going to have to ask Tsunade to give me a writ so I won't have to take mid year exams and pass with C's in every class. Hell, I'll take D's too. But it's probably not going to happen anyway.
"Hey, what's on your mind Naruto?" Gaara asked behind me before I felt arms wrap around my shoulders and a light kiss land on the side of my neck as I leaned my head back to rest on his shoulder. Taking in his scent that always helped me relax.
"Tomorrow, exams that will be here soon, my father, my mother, you, everything." I sighed, closing my eyes as I took a deep breath, hoping it'd calm my mind down some like my body has.
"Why am I and your mother on your mind?" Gaara asked, and somewhere inside of me wished he hadn't.
"You're always on my mind. I'd be a bad boyfriend if you weren't." I huffed. "I'm thinking about my Mom because … because I wish she was here." I added, sniffing a little bit and snuggling up to him more. "But I really wish we didn't talk about this."
"Okay, I won't push." Gaara sighed as he hugged me tighter.
"What time is it?" I asked after a few minutes of silence between the two of us.
"It's around five, almost six. Why?" Gaara said.
"Dad is going to be home in two hours … I think." I sighed, sitting back up in my chair as Gaara let me go. I stood up and stretched a little bit, his arms returning around me when I heard the chair move out from behind me. I let my arms fall behind my head and my hands rest behind Gaara's head, loving how Gaara's hand snaked their way under my shirts I was wearing, flinching slightly because his hands were cold.
"Sorry." He mumbled, moving to remove his hands from my bare skin, but I lowered my hands to stop him.
"It's fine, you don't have to stop." I whispered, turning as I let his hands go and wrapped my arms around his neck. It was then that I realized he was just a few inches taller than I was, and I pouted.
"What's wrong?" Gaara asked, his fine brows furrowing as he looked down at me.
"You're taller than me." I pouted, making him chuckle as he kissed my forehead before he rested his on mine.
"Is that a problem?" Gaara asked, though I knew he was kidding around because he had a smirk on his face. I wonder what's going through his mind at the moment.
"Not really." I shrugged. "Why?"
"Oh, no reason." Gaara chuckled, bringing his head down and nibbled on the side of my neck, my head moving back on instinct and winning a soft moan from my throat. I couldn't help but blush when I made that sound.
"Gaara …" I mumbled, shivering as his still cold hands went up my back a little bit.
"Shhh." Gaara whispered against my skin, his breath hot and made my skin crawl in a good way, making me purr in his ear while I combed my fingers through his hair, clinging to him almost when he nipped at my neck again.
"Hey, boys, remember the rules I told you about when you first got here?" Itachi's voice said a moment later, making me jump back from Gaara in surprise, and I think I accidentally pulled Gaara's hair as I went because he hissed in pain. Great, now I feel horrible.
"We're just hugging Itachi." I whined, looking at Gaara apologetically as he rubbed the back of his head.
"I know, I'm just teasing you two." Itachi snickered a few seconds later, crossing his arms as he leaned against the doorway. "Tsunade wants to talk to you, Naruto, when she comes back in."
"Is it about later?" I asked, my shoulders lowering, a frown appearing on my face when he nodded. Great, what did she want to talk about now?
"It's nothing too bad, Naruto." Itachi sighed. "She's going to go pick him up after talking to you, though, so you don't have much time when she leaves. You should go through everything and see what you're taking back. Sasuke, Gaara and I will help you if we need to."
"Okay." I sighed heavily, hugging myself as Gaara went behind me once again and wrapped his arms around me once more. "And I'll get started when Tsunade's done talking to me."
"Alright." Itachi nodded, pushing himself up off the doorway and backed up into the hallway once Sasuke walked back, and he looked like something was bothering him. I hope he's doing okay, because he's been weird since Sakura left.
"So this is where he's been hiding the entire time I've been here." Tsunade's voice mused as she appeared in the doorway next to Itachi, who excused himself and went somewhere out in the front of the house.
"I haven't been hiding, I was working on math homework when Neji was here about half an hour or so ago. I think he left soon after Itachi got home." I shrugged in the end, Gaara letting me go to sit down in the computer chair, pulling me onto his lap as he held me close to him. We shouldn't do this very often, the chair was getting small. Hell I'm surprised that it's holding both of our weight at the moment.
"Itachi told me." She chuckled as she walked into the room and closed the door, taking a seat on the bed. Crossing her arms as she took a deep breath and closed her eyes in thought. God, it felt like she was giving me bad news.
"Tsunade, stop it with the suspense!" I whined.
"Okay, fine." She smiled when she finally started talking. "I told your father about the medicine, and I've told Itachi to keep an eye out and make sure you take it until your father is off our radar. I also recommend that you give your father some space once he gets home for maybe an hour or so. He wasn't too happy when he heard the house was broken into, but he looked more calm about it than I thought he would."
"Oh, okay." I nodded, lowering my gaze to the floor and started picking at my nails until Gaara grabbed my hands and held them apart. I'm glad he did that though, they were already stubs, I didn't need my fingers to start bleeding like last time.
"Now here." Tsunade said as she leaned back on the bed slightly and reached into the pocket inside her jacket and tossed me something, and when I caught it, my eyes were beaming out of my head as I stared at a new cell phone. "Itachi and I decided to get you a new phone and all of our numbers, including your friends' numbers, are already programmed into the phone. So if you need help, you can call us any time, day or night so we can come get you."
"Thank you Tsunade." I sniffed, turning the new touch screen smart phone in my hands and took note that the cover was orange and black. And I didn't realize I was crying until a small tear drop fell onto the screen of the device. I quickly wiped it away before Gaara noticed, hopefully. "I'll tell Itachi thank you when I come out."
"Your welcome gaki." Tsunade smiled as she got up, walking over to me and gave me a hug, pulling Gaara into it as well, but I don't think he minded at all. "Well, I'm going to go pick your father up. We'll be back within an hour." And she kissed my forehead before she left waving.
Now, Gaara and I were left alone once again, and I wanted to get out of the chair, but half of me wanted to stay in his lap. It was comfortable, save for the arms of the chair.
"I want to take a nap." I yawned as I got up, pulling Gaara with me into the bed, snuggling up as close to him as I could with my arms around his waist, my face buried in his stomach/chest.
"But, Naruto." Gaara said once we were comfortable, but he didn't say anything else besides sigh a little bit before petting my hair, his right hand resting on my shoulder and I felt like we could stay like this forever. I wouldn't have to go home, I wouldn't have to meet with a man that might not have changed at all … and I wouldn't have to be a disappointment to him anymore.
"Naruto." Gaara whispered after a while of silence. I had been so content with the silence, the stillness between us, that I honestly was close to falling asleep until he said something.
I groaned and pulled him closer to me, not wanting to talk because I wanted the silence to stay. Hell, I didn't even want to move from where I was because I was so comfortable.
"We need to go through your stuff, and it's already been half an hour." Gaara whispered again, shaking my shoulder slightly.
"I don't care." I sniffed. "I told Itachi once that I was going to leave everything that I deem special." I added.
"But Naruto, that's everything you own. You need to take at least your clothes home so you have something to wear when you're home." Gaara said.
"But Gaara … remember what happened in the tapes?" I asked, finally letting him go as I sat up and got on my knees over top of him. "I want to make sure that doesn't happen, I'll bring a little bit home at a time."
Gaara didn't say anything, for a good few minutes. And the way he was looking at me with a blank stare, was really starting to scare me.
"Please, Gaara … he's already taken so much, I want to make sure he stays with his word before I trust him around anything my friends gave me." I said, but I could feel a few tears falling from my eyes as I spoke. I only prayed that he listened to what I had been saying.
After another few minutes of silence, me biting my lip until it bled and shaking because I was so tense and scared because he was so silent.
"Are you even going to speak? Or are you going to stare at me having a mental break down?" I hissed as I got up off of him and off and I stormed out of the bedroom, slamming the door behind. I didn't want to hear anything he had to say, because as far as understanding his silence, it meant that he wasn't listening to anything I was saying. So that translated to he didn't care in my language.
"Naruto, wait a minute damn it!" I heard Gaara yell behind me through the door before I heard it open, but I didn't stop before I stormed towards the front door and put my shoes on before I left Sasuke's and Itachi's house. I could hear Itachi behind me, but I didn't know what he was saying. I was too pissed off to care.
Slamming the door behind me, I stormed off towards my house and dug into the flower pot that held the spare key on the top step and unlocked the door just as I heard a car drive up into the drive way. Great, Dad's home and I'm in a mood.
"Naruto!" I heard Itachi yell from across the street and his voice was getting closer.
"I don't want to talk about Itachi! Tell Sasuke I just want my clothes brought over." I yelled as I turned around, turning back to the door, I yanked it open and stormed inside, slamming the door behind me as I went in and went straight to my room to start cleaning it. I needed something to do to keep my mind off of him.
