Thor had missing for, well, months. Fury had gotten into more than one shouting match with various aliens about it -and it had become a sore spot for all parties except Fury that the anti-Loki containment cells/weapons Thor had helped them create were being used for others than Loki- pointing out how Thor was an adult and alien and his comings and goings were his own damn business. What with Asgard's BiFrost and Earth's NoFrost smart money said Sif the Warrior Princess would reunite with her Prince before Jane the Comely Sorceress.
Sadly, Tony wasn't lying when he told Jane her official title among the Space Vikings. Comely Sorceress, indeed.
So Tony was surprised to be woken up at three am on a Saturday, JARVIS brewing coffee, with Agent Coulson sitting in his kitchen and flipping through Tony's counter top claiming that as the least political of the Avengers he and Bruce were being sent to China to pick up Thor.
