Deep in the heart of the wood, a cloaked figure glided across the frozen ground, making no sound. She could hear the whispers of the inhabitants of the wood, spreading rumors of her return. She could feel the approach of the warriors around her.
"Halt," came a menacing hiss. She stopped. "We don't like strangers,"
"I am no stranger," came her defiant reply. "I want audience with the Boss,"
"The Boss hasn't requested you. You will die," the hiss became angry.
With an unnatural speed, the hooded figure reached into her cloak and pulled out a long dagger embedded with amethysts and emeralds. She swirled to face the guard and plunged the dagger into the depth of his chest without hesitation. She watched as the life disappeared from his eyes, then withdrew her blade. The guard crumbled to the floor, and she stepped over him.
"Come," a voice boomed.
A hole tore into the scene before her. She stepped into the hole, and was accosted with the damp smell of caves. Before her was a grand staircase leading further into the earth. She ran down, feeling she had no time to waste. Finally she reached the landing.
There were two stone doors, where the Boss was waiting for her. She took a deep breath, then entered.
Her father sat in his stone throne. He was tall and mighty, and evil. He had cracks in his skin, like the shatter of a window. The cracks hinted at the hellish fire burning inside of him, and she was appalled and awed.
"Hello, Father," Amelia pulled back her hood, looking him in the eye.
"Amelia, dear, how long it's been," he looked upon her fondly, as any father would look upon his estranged child. He stood, and was before her in an instant.
"Father, I've come to ask you to let Circe go," Amelia breathed in, reminding herself why she came in the first place. She felt anger boiling inside of her. She pushed it down.
"Circe...how is my field agent?" the Boss hissed as he began encircling her. Amelia clutched the hilt of her dagger, questioning just exactly what she would do with it. "Circe is mine, child. She will come back,"
"So you have your pawns try to scare her? She has done nothing wrong. Her powers are mighty, Father. And you are frail," Amelia hissed back, furious at him.
"So are yours, my dear," the Boss chuckled. "I truly do wonder what would happen if your dagger broke...or someone stole it," Amelia held it against her chest, taking a few steps back.
"My dagger is mine. I have control of it," Amelia spat, partially to reassure herself.
"Yes, and if you lost that control? Circe at least knows a bit on how to operate her powers without a medium. You, daughter, will lose your control the second the dagger is harmed. Your powers are great," the Boss was proud of his daugher and her abilities.
"I came here for her life. Mine is free, and I can leave when I please. I beg of you, let her go," Amelia approached him.
"I can't, Amelia. You will see why in time. But you must go home and rest," the Boss strode back up to his throne and sat. "After all, you have a wedding to attend tomorrow,"
A/N: Hey all, sorry this took so long, and it's so short. I totally got grounded. Anyway, I might get a new computer for Christmas, so I might be able to update more often! Hurrah! And fun fact: I hate hospitals. I won't try to tell you when the wedding will be posted, because at this point, I don't know. The past few months are all one big cluster right now.
Love Always,
Kate
