It was weird.
Super weird.
It wasn't supposed to be like this—what is this?
It was just August yesterday and now, it's almost June. She just started junior year and yet she's almost a senior!? Worst of all, Natsu's Graduating in a week! What was this? Where did all the time go? How was it almost June, already?
Lying in bed, Lucy stared up at the ceiling as the hot humid air sneaked in through her open window. The birds chirped like the whimsical beings they were and the occasional cars made their ways through the neighborhood. How was it almost June? Lucy couldn't put her finger on it but boy, did the time fly. She swore she was just with Lyon last week but now, looking at her calendar, it was almost June.
Two weeks to be exact.
Her Natsu would be graduating next week, Erza's wedding will be in July, and then she'll be a senior and before she knows it, she'll be Mrs. Natsu Dragneel with a swollen belly.
Shooting up on her bed, she heard the doorbell ring as she waited for nothing. She looked right next to her to see it unoccupied, her head snapping from right to left to realized that her soon-to-be graduate wasn't present in their room.
Hearing the door opening and closing, she knew he was already up at nine in the morning! It was a new record!
Throwing her covers off, she put her pink fluffy slippers on and practically ran down the stairs, slowing down to peek down to see the pink-haired male grinning while looking at something in a box.
She assumed it just came.
"What's in the box?"
"Oh, g'morning Luce! Look what came!" He said excitedly as he picked his navy blue graduation suit and cap, showing the blonde who just stared. "Pretty neat, huh?"
"Yeah... Looks cool." Lucy smiled as she watched him put it on himself, flattening the front and adjusting the straps here and there. Once done, he posed to his fiancé to get her thoughts. "How do I look?"
"Amazing," Lucy cooed as she walked towards him and tugged on the strings slightly. "You look great in it."
"Can you believe I'm graduating next week?"
"I can hardly believe it's almost June..." Lucy muttered as Natsu laughed and leaned down to plant a kiss on her forehead. "Just one more year... One more year and you'll be Mrs. Natsu Dragneel!" He said happily as Lucy cocked her brow at him. "Is that what you're most excited for?"
"Yep. Nothing else but your pretty smile and our wedding date—that's what's been getting me through."
Lucy couldn't help but smile as she grabbed him from his scarf and pull him down to plant a soft kiss on his lips. "You're an idiot."
"Well, I'm your idiot so..." He said as he wrapped his arms around her waists and pulled her close, looking at her with hooded eyes as her cheeks flushed pink. They shared yet another passionate kiss as the humid air licked their skins wet.
"Is there something you want?"
"What do you mean?" The pink-haired College student asked as he pulled his graduation suit off and placed his cap on top, looking at his lover who shrugged. "Y'know, as a graduation present... you don't graduate all the time." She said, giving him a look making him smirk and shrug, ruffling his odd colored hair. "I dunno. Whatever floats your boat, babe. I don't mind," He said making Lucy roll her eyes and walk away. "You're boring."
"I'm funner than you, weirdo."
"Funner isn't a word, idiot," Lucy sighed making him stick his tongue out. "And you're graduating College?"
"Well, not everyone is a smartie like you," He mocked making her roll her eyes and ignore his teases.
She continued her way to the fridge as she felt her stomach grumble, signalling she was hungry. She looked through the fridge and debated weather or not she should eat the leftover pizza as beach season was approaching but, realizing that her hunger was much more important, she reached for it. She was cut short when suddenly her phone rang, the blonde thanking but cursing the person as they stopped her from eating.
Ignoring her fiance stares, she picked her phone up and pressed the smartphone against her ear.
"Lucy Heartfillia speaking—how may I help you?"
"Why do you speak like you're working at some kind of business?" Natsu asked making Lucy give him a look and turn her back to him. "Hello? Lisanna? Oh my gosh, how are you?! I haven't talked or seen you in like, what? Nine months? Almost ten?"
"Oh god, not her." Natsu groaned making Lucy glare at him, pressing her finger against her lip as he rolled his eyes and made his way to the fridge. "Babysitting? Oh, yeah, I'm totally fine with that! Why? Are you planning on making another rascal with Laxus so soon?" The blonde teased as Natsu stared at her laugh and grin while speaking to his childhood friend.
He still couldn't believe how much Lucy hated Lisanna before because of the misunderstanding she had. Now, they were basically butt-buddies.
"Yes, yes, yeess! Please bring Lance over, I would love to babysit him! Oh yes, please!"
"What?!" Natsu suddenly shouted as he overheard what his fiance and childhood friend were talking about. "We ain't babysitting nobody!"
"Yeah, that was Natsu... Natsu, Lisanna said to go jump off a bridge because she's going to arrive soon." Lucy said as she pressed her palm against the mic as Natsu growled, walking over to where she was to snatch the phone from his lover's hand. "Lisanna! That isn't very nice!"
"Says the one that said, I'll always be there for you Lis! and refusing to babysit my son while I go on a date with my husband."
"Why the hell are you coming all the way over to Magnolia to have a date when you can just hire a babysitter for the night and have a date there?!"
"Because one, I miss my beautiful sexy Lucy. Two, Magnolia food is so much better and three, I don't trust babysitters."
Natsu rolled his eyes as he got tired of his childhood friend's bullshit already, giving the smartphone back as he clicked his tongue in disapproval. "She's crazy." He said making Lucy scowl before going back to her conversation.
Soon, the doorbell rang and Lucy hung up the cellphone making Natsu grab her and stop her from answering the door. "Don't answer that."
"Why? It's Lisanna."
"I know. That's why, don't answer it." He said making Lucy give him a dirty look, shoving him away to make her way to their door. Natsu only cried as he tried stopping her from opening the door. To his horror, his fiance completely ignored him and opened the door to reveal his childhood silver-haired friend standing by the doorway with Laxus holding a car-seat in one hand and his son in his other.
It appeared that Lance just woke up by the way he blinked sleepily and yawned repeatedly.
"Oh my god! Is that really Lance?! He grew up so much!" Lucy cried out in surprise as she held her hands out to grab him as Lisanna giggled and Laxus handed Lance towards the eager blonde. "Well, it has been almost ten months."
"Oh he's such a handsome devil! He's going to break plenty of hearts when he grows up—oh yes you are, yes you are!" Lucy cooed as she raised him high and brought him down as he giggled loudly, the blonde leaning in to give him kisses on his cheek.
"Where's Natsu?"
"Oh him? He's somewhere around here moping. Natsu! Come greet Laxus and Lisanna!" Lucy called out as she bounced the baby boy in her arms, inviting the couple in as Natsu soon came appearing from the living room with a frown on his face.
His frown was instantly washed away when he saw the smiling infant in Lucy's arms, the male scooping the child away and raising him high.
"Who do we have here?! Lance Dreyer! You've sure grown, kid."
"N—Natsu! You're going to drop him!" Lisanna screamed in terror as she realized Natsu had her son instead of Lucy. Natsu only gave Lisanna a glare as he expertly placed the child against his chest, holding him securely. "Calm your tits, Lis. I won't drop him."
"Don't tell me to calm my tits!" The silver-haired woman hissed as she gave him a dirty look. "I don't trust you with anything delicate since I know how you are."
"Well for you information, I got experience with children so, yeah, suck it." He stuck his tongue out as Lisanna mirror his actions, the two acting like immature brats right in the middle of the kitchen as the two blondes sighed.
Lucy took Lance back into her arms as the male sucked on his small fist, drool dripping everywhere as his large crystal eyes went from left to right. Lucy could only squeal and shower him in kisses as Lance got overwhelmed by all the attention and affection he got from his aunt. He only squealed in joy as she laughed.
"He is just too adorable. Please, I will buy him from you."
"Sorry, Lucy. This one's not up for sale." Lisanna said as she went over and gave his son a light pinch on the cheek, smiling warmly as he looked at his mother in wonder. The silver-haired mother took her son back in her arms when he reached out towards her, the woman holding him tightly against her chest.
Lucy could only sigh in bliss.
"You look so happy. Makes me want to have a kid, too."
"He may seem like an angel on the outside but this little devil drives us crazy every day. Don't you, Lancy-bear?" Lisanna cooed making Lance giggle and grab her short hair to stick in his mouth, sucking as Lisanna looked like she didn't mind. "But now, he's going to be your responsibility for the night."
"I didn't sign up to be a babysitter. Unless, you're paying, Lis." Natsu smirked as he held his hand out making Lisanna grab her purse and dig inside to pull out a fifty dollar bill.
Natsu's eyes widen in surprise as he didn't think she would actually cough up cash, looking to gap at his friend who smiled. "Is that enough?"
"Whoa, whoa—I didn't think you'll actually do it. I don't want you money—it was a joke!" Natsu cried out as he tried giving the money back but Lisanna shook her head and pushed it back against his chest. "No, no—I insist. I'm sure Lance will give you two a hard time since you two aren't used to a kid and I'm just repaying you two for being too kind to me."
"Lisanna... I feel bad—please, don't give us money." Lucy frowned as Lisanna shook her head once more. "No, no. Please, Lucy, if you don't take it, it'll make me upset."
"Well... if you're offering..." Natsu trailed off making Lucy sigh and roll her eyes. "Next time—I'm taking you out on a date for that fifty dollars, okay?"
"Sure! Just call me up and I'll come to your aid, babe." Lisanna giggled, giving the blonde a wink as Lucy flushed slightly.
Natsu, who watched the entire thing, gawked as he pulled Lucy out of Lisanna's line of vision. "What the hell! Don't hit on my girl!"
"Hey, she's mine, Dragneel. Paws off," Lisanna said as Lucy giggled. Natsu gave her a look of displeasure as he looked at Laxus for help but he seemed too distracted by his giggling son.
"You don't see me going after your man," Natsu said making Lisanna and Lucy look at him with raised brows. "Is this jealousy or is he admitting he's gay?"
"I'm not gay! For fucks sakes—"
"Hey! There is a baby in the room!" Laxus shouted as he covered Lance's small ears as he shot Natsu a dangerous look. Natsu, who only glared back, hissed at the blonde. "Take your bitch and get out of my house."
"Natsu!"
"Don't call my woman a bitch!"
"She is one. Aren't you, Lis? I used to call you bitchsanna and you would always answer." Natsu said as he gave Lisanna a look as she gasped like she just realized something important. "Oh, I remember that! Hahah, you called me bitchsanna for so long and I think you forgot my name for a while because of that nickname!" Lisanna laughed making Natsu smirk and give Laxus a 'I-told-you-so' look.
The blondes only stared in disbelief as the two childhood friends gave each other high fives and grins.
"Alright, alright—you two really need to go. When is your dinner, anyways?" Lucy asked as she now held the gurgling baby, the female ushering the couple out as Lisanna quickly grabbed her purse and made her way to the door. "It's at seven."
"It's barely ten," Natsu stated making Lisanna nod as she and her husband put their shoes back on. "It's not just a dinner, it's a date, Natsu. If you don't know what a date is—a date is when a couple—"
"I know what a date is, idiot!"
"Then don't ask stupid questions." Lisanna gave him a wide smile before turning towards Lucy who held her precious son. She leaned in and gave the child a large sloppy kiss and whipped it off soon after. "I love you my little cutsie son! Mommy will be back with daddy to pick you up around eight so don't cause too much trouble to auntie Lucy, okay? But you can cause many, many trouble to uncle Natsu because he's a butt!"
"Hey—!"
"Haha, just kidding!" Lisanna stuck her tongue out as she kissed Lance's cheek once more. "Have fun, you two! And good luck," She said as Laxus gave them a half nod, half wave before being pushed out the house by his wife.
Soon, it was just the couple left alone with the child and Lucy already knew that this wasn't going to be a team effort.
—X—
It hasn't been an hour and Natsu felt like he was going to go crazy.
Watching the little devil sleep peacefully in his car-seat made him wonder how in the world Lucy even got him to sleep after all the scream, fussing, and crying he did just couple minutes ago. It was hard enough just trying to be careful around the child but not even a day ahead, the child was already driving him nuts.
It just started with Lisanna leaving and of course, Lance then goes berserk.
He didn't sign up to be a babysitter! Though, he did get fifty bucks out of her—he was sort of kind of enjoying it. And watching Lucy be all lovey dovey and cute with Lance made him really, really happy. Just like when she plays with Athena.
"Natsu, I should have done some yoga today if I knew Lisanna was going to give us Lance for the day."
"I mean, you can do some yoga now. Like, in front of me or on top of me—maybe you should do it naked. Just in case."
"Shut up you pervert. We have a kid in the house," The blonde hissed as she looked at the infant who peacefully slept in his car-seat as he sucked on his pacifier. Lucy only sighed happily before looking back at her fiance who stared at her with a look of passion and affection.
It confused her but she didn't say anything since that face was rare and it always made her feel all warm inside.
"Luce, I really want a kid. A mini you or even better—a mini me!"
"Natsu, I told you—"
"Yeah, yeah, I know. After graduation, Natsu." He mimicked her voice making her roll her eyes and scowl slightly. "I do not sound like that."
"Maybe," He said as he stood and went over to where she sat, sitting down in front of the car-seat to stare at the baby. "But really... look how cute he looks. Just imagine one that looked like us." He explained as he looked up at Lucy who only looked away in embarrassment. "N—Natsu..."
"Do you really want to know why I want a kid so badly?"
"To have sex with me?"
"No," He scoffed, slightly offended. "To see that lovely expression you make when you hold a child in your arms. The look of love that crosses your features—it kind of makes me happy. And when I first saw you with that expression holding Athena, I couldn't breath because you were so breath-taking."
"J—jeez... what are you doing? Proposing or something?"
"I'm proposing an idea." Natsu said, grinning from ear to ear as he stood up and stood in front of the blonde. "But first, I want you to be Mrs. Dragneel before that happens. So, I have this plan," He said making Lucy sigh and roll her eyes as he scrambled to grab the white-board and marker that was attached to their fridge.
Once he grabbed it and came back to where Lucy and Lance was, he stood in front of her as he drew something that looked like her and him. "Nobody said we couldn't marry before graduation, right?"
"Go on..."
"Well, I was thinking maybe we can marry after I graduate thenget a baby after you graduate? Wouldn't that be easier?" He suggested, hoping she would say yes as she stared and hummed in response. "I mean... I guess that can work but I don't think it could be helpful, really. Erza and Jellal are getting married in less than two months and they have to prepare..." Lucy frowned slightly making Natsu frown with her.
He then lowered his white board, erased what he drew, and drew something else to present to the blonde.
Lucy noticed it was a poorly drawn broken heart and it make her giggle slightly.
"Awe, c'mon Natsu, don't be like that!"
"It's sad. I proposed before Jellal and he's getting married before me." He sighed, frustration written all over his face as he ruffled his odd colored hair everywhere. Lucy only frowned at his distress as she pat the place right next to her, making him sit. Once seated, she planted a soft kiss on his cheek making him blink in surprise.
"This isn't a race, Natsu. Cheer up, will you?"
"It is a race! If that bastard Gray gets married before me, I swear I will wed you here and now!" He shouted, fire burning in his eyes as Lucy sighed.
She was about to retort to his stupid declaration but stopped when the wails of Lance stopped her, the blonde cringing to scoop the child in her arms and rock him.
She only shot him a dirty look when he grinned sheepishly.
"You wake Lance up one more time—I swear I'm going to go out and leave you alone with him till eight tonight."
And as soon as the words left her mouth, he was quiet.
.
.
.
.
.
"WHAT ARE YOU DOING TO LANCE?!"
"Haha, Luce, he looks like an egg!" Natsu laughed out loud as he held Lance's small head in his palms as he scrunched it all up in his palms to make Lucy gawk in horror. She was half-tempted to take Lance away but at the same time, he looked like he was enjoying the act.
"Now he's winking!" Natsu cried out in joy as he held the corner of his mouth and the corner of his eyes to make it look like he was winking.
Natsu started to crack up to his own jokes as Lucy could only stare her at idiotic fiance.
"Hahah! He looks like he's winking at the ladies!"
"Dear lord, I hope our kids will be okay with this kind of abuse..."
.
.
.
.
.
"Ahhh! Watch out, super Lance has come to the rescue!" Natsu cried out as he held Lance up high above his head as he ran in a circle to make it seem like he was flying. Lance, who was only squealing and screaming, giggled loudly as the two males played together. "Ahh! Help, help! What was that?! Lance, they're calling for you!" Natsu announced as Lance suddenly looked worried, the male laughing loudly.
He put Lance down and held him against his chest and bounced him up and down. "Oh no! It's a earthquake!"
Smiling from ear to ear, Lucy couldn't pry her eyes off her fiance as he played with Lance. He would make such a great father and they both knew that seeing how much he made Lance laugh. Though, he was reckless, he was a perfect father.
"Super Lance is to the—! Oh, wait, what is this?" Natsu said as he pulled Lance back down and held him arms-length away to stare.
The two males stared at each other for a while till Lance started to wail, leaving Natsu to cringe and groan.
"Lucy! Lance shit himself! AHH—THE SMELL. DEAR LORD, LUCY, GET YOUR ASS OUT HERE. SUPER LANCE MADE A SUPER POO-POO!"
.
.
.
.
.
"Here comes the choo-choo train! Choo-Choo!"
Natsu gently put the small yellow spoon inside Lance's teethless mouth as the baby happily ate his mashed sweet potatoes and corn. He swung his legs back and forth and threw his arms everywhere, stopping occasionally when Lucy made a noise or sound. But when he lost interest, he would return his gaze back at the pink-haired male to ask for food or attention.
And so far, he loved the attention he gave him.
"Then comes the airplane!" Natsu said as he made airplane noises, moving the spoon from left to right in a bee-line before putting the spoon back in his mouth to make him squeal.
Somehow, the scene made Lucy's heart swell greatly.
—X—
Holding the child against her chest, Lucy hummed soft tunes as she swayed back and forth. The soft gurgles that came from him showed that he was slowly falling asleep after the tiresome slash amazing day he had with the couple. And the way he clutched Lucy's shirt tightly in his tiny fist, it showed he didn't want to be separated.
Sighing, Lucy snuggled closer to the infant as she felt the warmth come from the tiny thing.
Witnessing how Natsu handled Lance all day—she really, really wanted a child with Natsu, now. She wanted to see that side of him a lot more and she was planning on asking Laxus to take Lisanna on date more often just to see it.
She never knew that out of everyone, Natsu would be the responsible fatherly type. And it sure did surprise her dearly.
"Is he asleep?"
Lucy suddenly jerked as she felt something warm wrap around her waist and something heavy against her shoulder. She was slightly frightened but sighed in relief when she realized it was just Natsu.
"Don't sneak up on me like that," She whispered, scowling at the grinning male. "Lance is asleep so keep it quiet, will you?"
"I will, don't worry." He promised as he looked at the face of the infant who looked oh so cute and peaceful. "He fell asleep so fast."
"After the day with you, I'm sure anyone would fall asleep this quick." Lucy said making him slightly offended. "What is that supposed to mean? I did a great job today!" He hissed making Lucy nod. "Yeah, I know. I didn't mean it in a bad way... you were actually... great."
"Nobody trusts me anymore," He sighed, throwing his hands in the air as he walked away making Lucy giggle slightly. "Hey, you proved to me that you can take care of a child. If that doesn't prove anything, I don't know what does."
"Does that mean we're on the clear for a kid?"
Lucy smiled bashfully and nodded, turning away to hide her blush as the male silently cheered and threw his hands in the air.
The couple was soon disturbed by a rapid knock on their front door and Lucy gasped, nudging her fiance to go get the door knowing it was Lisanna.
The process was easy as Lisanna just quickly took her sleeping child back as Natsu loaded all the baby supplies in her car, the blonde waving at Laxus who only nodded.
"Sorry Lucy, I wish I can stay longer."
"Don't worry about it! Call me when you arrive and we can talk about your day later on," Lucy said as she ushered her friend towards her car as Natsu and Laxus talked about something while loading the car. They looked like they were bickering but Lucy and Lisanna just ignored it as the two spoke. "How was Natsu doing with Lance around?"
"Believe it or not... Natsu took care of him the entire day. He was great—it showed me that he can actually become a worthy father."
"Are you serious?" Lisanna asked, gawking slightly making Lucy hush her and giggle. "Yes. I've never seen anything so heart-warming... I wish I can see that more often."
"Then hurry and get pregnant, girl. I'll be waiting for that child of yours," Lisanna winked, leaving Lucy to blush and laugh about it as the woman rushed to her car to put her kid in his car-seat and strap him in. "Till next time! Thank you for taking care of Lance for the day!"
"Yo, bring that heart-breaker over anytime, Lis!" Natsu shouted as Lisanna laughed and waved at the couple as Natsu approached Lucy and wrapped his arm around her, the two waving goodbye as Laxus pulled out of the driveway.
Waving till they couldn't see their car anymore, Lucy groaned and sighed as she stretched her limps, slowly walking back to their front door.
"Today... was a fast and tiresome day."
"It was fun! I can't wait to spoil that kid." Natsu grinned, rubbing his hands together as Lucy rolled her eyes. "I feel bad for Lisanna but then again... Lance is the firstborn."
"Exactly! He deserves it! Then when we have a kid—it'll be his turn!" Natsu declared as he stopped right in front of his front doorstep, going into a stance as he watched his lover approach him rolling her eyes. "Just not too much," She said making him scoff and place his hand on her back to push her further. "Of course."
"But y'know, I'm proud of you." Lucy stated making him blink and stare. "For what?"
"For today, silly." She giggled as she kissed his cheek and stroked the side of his face. "And if you're willing, I've got a present for you up in our bedroom." She purred into his ear, kissing his throat before giving him a flirty wink.
Natsu only swallowed thickly as he watched her enter the house, the male shifting his pants as he felt his penis shift slightly.
Without anymore thoughts, he entered the house and went to his room where he knew where his present was.
