Hades' Neko: Lol don't worry, as the chapters get farther their relationship will blossom. Hopefully, everything will work out as I have planned in this chapter with the little moment between these two.
Aniwolfgirl: You are very welcome! I'm so glad that I am finally able to get my chapters done on a reasonable schedule again. Now that I have an iPad I won't always need to be on the computer in order to write up a new chapter. So now I can write on the go.
Chapter 6: Miss Librarian
~One Week Later~
Leina yawned loudly as she sat up in bed with the sun shining brightly in the sky. She quickly got out of bed and went to the bathroom to take a shower. Once she was all cleaned up she fixed her hair, put on a little bit of make-up, and she put on the clothes that she had prepared last night. Leina snickered as Levy stirred in her sleep when she grabbed her purse and headed out of the door. Today was the day that Leina would be starting her first job. Funny enough it had something to do with a lot of books, but that was just fine with her.
If you guessed that her job is at a library then you're right. Leina was on a special job request for Mr. and Mrs. Rogers who owned their own library in Magnolia. All she had to do was read books to children every other hour and help keep things neat and organized. Although, there was more to her storytelling sessions than just sitting down and reading a simple book to children.
"There you are! I've never seen them wait so patiently for anyone." Mr. Roger said with a wide smile.
"I'm sorry; I had to stop by the bakery on my way here." Leina said a she put her things away and ran to the room that the children were in.
Just as Mr. Rogers had said, they were all waiting patiently for her to arrive. She smiled softly as she walked into the room and saw all of their faces light up with excitement.
"Are you all ready?" Leina asked as she sat in from of them in a chair and placed the book in her lap.
"Yes!" They all yelled in unison.
"Then let's get started." Leina said as she began to read the story.
~Laxus~
"Who would have thought that I would have all of this trouble just trying to find one damn place?" Laxus asked no one in particular as he walked down the streets of Magnolia with a frown on his face.
He had excepted a mission to a small island that is supposed to be not too far from Fiore and it turns out that no one knows how to get there or where to find the island. He had been looking everywhere for anyone who knew of the islands whereabouts and who could take him there, but every person he asked just told him that they have never heard of such a place. After a whole day of walking around he decided to just try again another time and he managed to run into Freed while he was heading home himself. Freed being as attentive as he is had seen that Laxus looked like he had been towing around a 10 ton weight and asked what was wrong. After a bit of explaining his current situation, Freed told him that he should try looking for a map at the library and that a book may have information on how he could get to the island.
So, here he is at the very last library in Magnolia since none of the other libraries had any information on the mysterious island. If this didn't help him then he would just forget about it and except a new job.
"Here goes nothing." Laxus said as he sighed and went inside of the moderately large library.
"Oh hello, are you looking for anything in particular today?" The librarian asked with a kind smile.
"Do you have any maps for this region? I'm looking for a certain island." Laxus asked.
"Yes we do, just follow me I'll take you right to them." The librarian said as she led him to another part of the library.
While they were walking he heard the sounds of cannon fire in the distance and he couldn't stop himself as he wandered away from the librarian. The sounds were coming from behind a big red wood door. As he peeked inside he saw a room full of at least 20 or 30 children and different color lights in front of them. Laxus pushed open the door just enough to where he could see what was in front of them and it shocked him at what he saw. In front of the group of children was Leina in a librarian like outfit with what looked like an illusion of pirates fighting behind her in an astonishing display.
He chuckled as the children ohh'd and ahh'd at the vivid animations that were playing front of them. It made him even more happy to see how amazing Leina was at making them look so real as she made them surround the whole room as if they were all actually there.
"She's amazing, isn't she?" The librarian asked as she came up behind Laxus.
"Yeah she is." Laxus said as he continued to stare.
"Alright, you've all had your fun. Now, it's time to start studying. Don't worry you'll be back once you're done." The librarian said as she rounded up the children and took them off to the other room.
"Leina, I'll leave this gentleman to you." The librarian told Leina as she went back to the room with the children.
"So, what can help you with Laxus?" Leina asked with a bright smile. Laxus chuckled a bit.
"You think you could use those skills of yours to show me how to get to a certain island?" Laxus asked with a smirk.
"I could try, what island are you looking for exactly?" Leina asked as she put the book away that she was reading to the children.
"It's called Fumei Island. I've been looking for a way to get there but no one knows how or even heard of the island." Laxus said in irritation. Leina laughed lightly.
(A/N: Fumei literally means The Unknown, so it's basically called The Unknown Island.)
"Did I say something funny?" Laxus asked with a raised eyebrow.
"No one knows about the island because it can't be found by any ordinary travelers. Only people who actually know of the islands whereabouts and have adapted to the area can go there because they know about the fog that is surrounding it. Unfortunately, that's what makes it so hard for people to travel there. Here, just call this number and they can give you a ride there. If you tell them that you know me you'll get a free trip there and back." Leina said as she wrote down a number on a piece of paper with a name and handed to Laxus.
"Leave it up to a bookworm to know just what I need." Laxus said with a light chuckle.
"Maybe you should try being like one sometimes. A little reading won't kill you, if anything it'll make it easier for you in certain situations." Leina said as she picked up a stack of books from a cart and put them away.
"I might just do that, but I'll need some help on where to start." Laxus said as he sat on the armrest of a chair while followed Leina with his eyes.
"I can help with that." Leina said with a shrug. Out of the corner of her eye she saw Laxus get up and approach her.
"One catch though, we have to do it over dinner at my place. Is that okay with you?" Laxus asked as he tilted her head up in his direction by her chin and smiled down at her.
"Yeah it's okay with me." Leina said as she starred into his dark grayish blue eyes.
(A/N: Yeah I know some people are probably thinking his eyes aren't blue. In all honesty, his eyes look like they're a dark grayish blue in the anime to me. Although, I could be a bit color blind from being on the computer for so long lol.)
"Good, when is your next off day around 3 or 4 days from now?" Laxus asked as he released her chin.
"I'm free on the weekends." Leina said.
"Perfect, then I'll see you this weekend." Laxus said as he extended his hand to shake it with hers. Leina shook his hand and then he left.
"I'm getting a vision; I sense wedding bells in your future." The librarian said as she pretended to read Leina's mind while peeking into the room from one of the other doors that lead to it.
"Very funny Camelia." Leina said as she rolled her eyes. Camelia laughed as she skipped out of the room, leaving Leina to her books.
What do you all think?! This is a pretty long chapter and I am so happy with how this little moment turned out between Leina and Laxus.
