Chapter 10: Black Cove Island
"She's running a bit late isn't she?" Laxus asked himself as he stood near the port they were supposed to meet at.
"Sorry, I had few things I had to take care of before I left. Do you have everything you need?" Leina asked as she ran up to him and smiled.
"It's alright and yeah I have everything. Are you ready?" Laxus asked.
"Yep, let's go!" Leina said as she walked to the dock where Wilson was and waved at him.
"How have you been Wilson? Do you have everything you need?" Leina asked him as he stood up from his seat on the deck.
"I have been great and I can see that you have been doing well too. You got another new friend? Also, everything is already ready and in order." Wilson said as he smiled at her and eyed Laxus with a smirk.
"He's not that type of friend old man, and quit it with the freaky eye contact you're giving him! Every time I bring a man with me you make those crazy faces." Leina said as she frowned at him in irritation and hopped aboard the ship to put down her bags. "It isn't my fault that I feel the need to protect you from time to time. Hell, with the men that are in this world now you never know what they may or may not do!" Wilson said in defense as he wiggled his bushy eyebrows at her with a creepy smile.
"I swear one of these days someone is gonna drag you off to the nut house." Leina said flatly.
"There you go with that again." Wilson said as he threw his hands in the air and walked off.
"You two really get along well, how long have you known him?" Laxus asked Leina as he placed his bags on the deck right next to hers.
"That old prune, I've known him for years. He used to take me on adventures and he was my foster parent when I was younger. He always took me to new places that were filled with wonderful things that I had never ever heard of before. Although, once he started getting older and I turned 18 I had branched off from him." Leina said as she begins to think about all of the fun times she had with Wilson.
"You've really got a past with him." Laxus said with a smile.
"Yeah I do. I miss those times we shared together. Even though he used to get on my nerves, he always looked out for me when I was little. I had been with him ever since I was 8 years old." Leina said as she smiled at the old man as he bickered away to himself.
"He's a bit of a talker isn't he?" Laxus said as Wilson continued to bicker on and on without realizing that neither of them was listening.
"Unfortunately, he is." Leina said as she held her head low.
"Just nod your head and keep walking, he'll give up sooner or later." Leina said as they both snuck down the stairs into the ship and made their way to the rooms.
Leina walked in front of Laxus and soon stopped in front of a pinkish-purple door that had her name on it in cursive letters.
"Seriously?" Laxus asked with a playful smirk.
"Shut up, he keeps it the way it is because sometimes I visit him when he's lonely." Leina said as she opened the door and plopped down on her bed. As Laxus chuckled at her he noticed another door at the end of the hall that had 'Peony' on it in the same style of cursive writing.
"Whose room is that? Does he have a daughter or something?" Laxus asked as he pointed to the direction of the room.
Leina got up from her bed and walked to the door to look down the hall. She felt a sharp twinge in her heart as she read over the light pink writing on the baby blue door.
"That was his daughter's room; she died a year from when I first started to travel with Wilson." Leina said with a sad look on her face.
"What happened to her?" Laxus asked with a small frown.
"She was poisoned in her sleep and she had been exposed to it for so long that the antidote couldn't help her anymore. She knew what would happen yet she said nothing to keep us safe." Leina said as she walked back into her room and grabbed a picture frame from her bag.
"Did you ever find the person that did that to her?" Laxus asked as she walked back up to him and handed the picture frame to him.
"We never could find who did it, but she knew who it was. Even when we asked she wouldn't tell us." Leina said as Laxus looked at the picture of the girl.
She had Dark Blue hair that had the top in a high ponytail and the bottom hanging down her back in loose curls, she had bright grey eyes and a small mole under the right side of her bottom lip. She was smiling with Leina beside her.
"She looks like a fun person to be around." Laxus said as she tried to lighten the conversation.
"She was, that girl was wilder than any animal I've ever seen in my life. When I was with her things always went sour in one way or another." Leina said as she began to laugh.
"I see you guys have already gotten comfortable, you're room is right next to Leina's, Laxus." Wilson said as he was about to go back above deck but then he stopped and turned around to look at Laxus in the eye. "Don't try anything funny while I'm not around because I can hear and see everything." Wilson said with a sinister smile then made his way up the stairs.
"Should I be concerned for my safety while he's around?" Laxus asked as he looked back to Leina to see that she was fast asleep in her bed. Laxus smiled as her legs hung loosely off of the bed. He quietly came over to her and laid her straight on the bed and then placed the covers over her then he went to his own room to turn in for the night.
