Chapter 12: Secrets Of The Past Part 2
"We've finally arrived! That was a long trip." Leina yelled as she stretched.
"You sure are awfully loud today." Laxus said as he watched her laugh with glee.
"Oh be quiet and lighten up. Now, what is this mission we're supposed to be doing?" Leina asked as she checked through her bag to make sure she had everything she needed.
"We're supposed to be going to this resort hotel and catching a person who's been playing around with the guest while they were sleeping." Laxus said as he read over the request form.
"Is even a job for a mage? It sounds more like something for the police?" Leina asked in confusion.
"Well the resort owners said that they tried calling the police, but it seems that this person has strange abilities." Laxus said as he began to walk towards the resort.
"That explains why this place looks like it's been abandoned for years then." Leina said as she quickened her pace to catch up with Laxus.
"You scared?" Laxus asked as soon as he felt her hold on to the back of his shirt. Leina looked at what her hands were doing and blushed fiercely.
"No I'm not scared!" She said in defense. However, as soon as she heard a loud noise from a distance she immediately grabbed his arm.
"Is that so, then why are you holding my arm so tightly?" Laxus asked as he continued to walk with a smirk on his face. Leina ignored his smart remark and remained attached to his arm.
"Who goes there?" Someone asked suddenly.
"I came here for a request. I'm a mage from Fairy Tail." Laxus said.
"Did you say you were a mage?" An old man asked as he came out of the resort.
"Yes, I did. Are you the person who made this request?" Laxus asked as he handed the paper to the man.
He looked at it tentatively until his face lit up with a content smile.
"I'm glad that you came so urgently, this mess has run all of my customers away and it has me in a lot of trouble." The old man said.
"It's no problem, what exactly has been going on here?" Laxus asked.
"Well I can't really say what it is. Whenever guests come to the island, they suddenly run out of here three days later. Every time I question them on what happened or what they saw it only makes everything worse. Neither my family nor I have seen anything while we have been here, but the guests have had enough. Please help us, I don't know what I'd do if I lost my resort." The old man said as he began to tear up.
"We'll do our best to find out what's happening in your resort, we promise. For right now all you have to do is give us whatever details you do know about this mysterious person." Leina said with a soft smile.
"I have everything written down right here." The old man said as handed Leina the paper.
"For now, both of you can stay in one of the guest rooms at my house until you finish everything. You do not have to worry about anything except for getting rid of this person. It is the least I can do for you since you came out here so quickly. By the way, my name is Mr. Milo." Mr. Milo said as he guided them to his house, which was not too far from the resort.
"It's nice to meet you Mr. Milo, my name is Leina and this is Laxus." Leina said.
"It's very nice to meet you two, please make yourselves feel at home." Mr. Milo said as he opened the door to his house to reveal what looked more like a pigsty.
"Thank…you…very…much." Leina said as her frown slowly turned into a look of sheer terror.
~A Few Hours Later~
"I thought I was gonna die! Is he sure that his uncleanliness isn't the reason why all of those people left?" Leina asked as she flopped onto the bed she was sleeping on.
Thankfully, Laxus had quickly thought up a plan in order to keep them as far away from Mr. Milo's house. He told him that if they were to find this troublemaker it would be easier if they played as bait then caught him in the act. With how well he and Leina played it off to him, they managed to get a good room in the resort and a peaceful stay until they left.
"Yeah, I'm starting to wonder about that myself." Laxus said as he unpacked his bag and sat on his bed with a heavy sigh.
"Well, let's get started, the quicker we get done the faster we can get out of here." Leina said as she dragged him along.
"What's the rush, all we need to do is sit here and relax remember?" Laxus asked as he lay back on his bed and drifted off to sleep.
"You really surprise me with the things you do." Leina said as she climbed back in her bed and threw her pillow at Laxus as soon as he started to snore. He chuckled at this and threw it back at her.
"Well, if it isn't my old friend. It seems that you still like to play games with the hearts of the people around you, Ms. Fairchild. I wonder how this story will end for you." A mysterious figure said as it grinned down at her wickedly.
