Chapter 14: Secrets Of The Past Part 4

~The Next Day~

"Leina? Did you hear what I said Leina?" Laxus asked as he waved his hand in front of Leina's face as she stared off into space.

"Huh? What did you say?" Leina asked as she finally came down to earth.

"What kind of trip did you just go on?" Wilson asked with a chuckle.

"I didn't, I was just thinking about something and it seems like I got a bit carried away. Now what is it you were talking about?" Leina asked Laxus.

"Foods getting cold." Laxus said as he pointed to the plate of pasta that sat in front of Leina.

"When did you…?" Leina was about to ask. "It's been sitting there for at least 10 minutes." Wilson said as he washed his hands.

Leina gave a nervous chuckle as Wilson gave her a slight glare once he finished drying his hands. She quickly began to eat her food, giving him or Laxus no time to ask her any funny questions. However, Leina knew Wilson well enough to know that he wouldn't be fooled so easily and he wouldn't ignore her strange behavior.

"Is there something that you want to tell me Leina?" Wilson asked as he continued to glare at her suspiciously. Even Laxus was giving her a questioning look.

"Nothing, there's nothing wrong with me. I've just been thinking a lot lately on how we can finish this mission and go home. I'm starting to miss my books." Leina said as she continued to stuff her face with pasta.

"Are you sure, ever since we arrived at this island you've been acting strange." Laxus said as he watched her closely.

"I'm fine, it's just that this place has been making feel kinda strange. It's nothing I can't handle, but it pretty annoying." Leina said as she fiddled with her fingers.

"If you say so." They both said in unison as they continued what they were doing before they started interrogating her.

Even though they both said that they had been watching her tentatively as she finished eating and washed her dish. "I'm going out for a bit." Leina said as she quickly walked out of the room and off of the ship. "Damn those two for being so nosey." Leina said as she walked through the resort. "Although, it's not like they were wrong. This island has really been bugging me, but I just can't seem to understand why. It's almost like it has some kind of mysterious aura around it." Leina said as she checked her surroundings with every step she took.

Suddenly, Leina made a stop in the middle of one of the snack stands as she felt a familiar chill go up her spine. She shivered a bit as she looked around to find that she didn't know where she was. "Oh great, I start with just a simple walk and now I'm lost. I should be able to go back that way and be back to where I was." Leina said as she walked back the way she came until she heard someone laugh directly behind her.

"Who's there?" Leina asked as Meian appeared in her hand.

"I'm glad to see that you still have that little spark in you that you had so many years ago. How many years ago was that exactly?" A mysterious figure asked as they appeared out of the shadows.

"Why in the hell are you in a place like this? Isn't this out of your territory?" Leina asked with distaste written all over her face.

"Your words hurt me, I thought it would be fun to see you again after 12 years." The mysterious figure said as it flew around her as a pitch black shadow.

"Why, so you can finally succeed at killing me?" Leina asked as she smirked a bit.

"Actually, I was wondering just how much your kill count was." The figure said with a chuckle which made Leina swing her sword at it, sending a dark blast of energy at it.

"Fine, be that way. It's not my fault that you continue to live in that lie your parents created for you. If you would only embrace your inner self you could be just as powerful as I am." The figure said as it dodged her attack easily and laughed in her face.

"I'm not anything like you and my parents made the best decision in raising me the way they did." Leina said with a glare.

"That's not how you felt before you met them. Just think of how amazing it would be for you to be yourself without having to hold back that thirst that's been bugging you. You could hang around people who are like you, and you won't have to worry about them dying." The figure said wickedly as it grinned at her.

"That wasn't supposed to happen, it was an accident!" Leina yelled in irritation.

"How many times have you said that before?" The figure asked with a quirked eyebrow.

"I don't have to answer to you. I have a mission to finish and if I find out that you're the one causing all of this commotion on this island I'll burry a wooden cross in your ass." Leina said as she walk away.

"How frightening, well they won't have to worry about me bothering them anymore." The figure said as it rose to the sky and disappeared with a cackle.

~A Few Days Later~

"Thank you so much for getting rid of those ghosts." Mr. Milo said as he shook Laxus' hand so much to the point that he was cringing.

"It's no problem, it was least we could do for you with all of the…help you gave us." Leina said with a forced smile.

"Well, if you need anything just call. Your guild is always welcome here. Have a nice trip back." Mr. Milo said as he waved at them as they sailed off from the island.

"How in the hell did you get those ghosts to stop haunting the island?" Laxus asked with a raised eyebrow as he rotated his sore shoulder.

"Nothing a few bribes can't do." Leina said with a big smile. Laxus gave her a confused look as she and Wilson both laughed at him.
