Chapter 15: Secrets Of The Past Part 5

Levy waited anxiously for Leina to arrive at the dock. She practically had bitten her nails down to the quick as she waited for them to arrive. Juvia was surprisingly calm, Erza was playing with her scarlet red hair nervously, and Lucy was trying her best not to hold Plue in a death grip. When the ship finally came into view Juvia was the first one to spot it.

"THEIR HERE!" Juvia yelled as she finally lost her composure.

"To think that you seemed so calm." Levy said flatly as she gave her a blank expression.

"Agreed." Lucy and Erza said in a unison as they gave her the same look as Levy.

"I hope she had fun on the mission." Levy said with a hopeful smile.

"With Laxus?" Lucy asked.

"I don't think so, at least not the type of fun we want to hear about." Erza said.

"Just image, all those muscles!" Juvia yelled as she drooled.

"Does that mean you have a thing for Laxus now?!" Lucy asked in astonishment.

"I don't think that's what she's imaging." Levy and Erza said in unison as Juvia mumbled Gray's name.

"Good point." Lucy said as Juvia leaned on her shoulder.

"How long have you guys been waiting for me?" Leina asked as she hopped off the side of the ship onto the dock.

She ran towards Levy and the others to give them a big hug. "I missed you all so much." Leina said with a big smile as Laxus walked up behind her with all of their bags in hand. "Did you have fun?" Juvia, Lucy, Levy, and Erza asked. "Yeah, I had a lot more fun than what I thought I would. Thank you Laxus." Leina said as she grabbed her bags from Laxus and thanked him for bringing them to her.

"See ya later old man, I'll bring a few meals to you later!" Leina yelled as she left the port.

Leina walked ahead of Laxus as she chatted away with Lucy, Levy, Juvia, and Erza about what they did on their mission. As soon as they all reached the fork in the road where the roads that lead to Laxus' apartment and the Guild went separate ways, Leina stopped.

"I'll meet you guys back at the guild when I'm done letting Mr. Rogers know that I have gotten back." Leina said as she headed in the same direction as Laxus.

"Okay, just meet us at the Fairy Hills once you're finished." Levy said after she stared at Leina awkwardly for a few minutes.

"They're gonna torture you when you get back." Laxus said with a smirk.

"Not if something happens and I have no choice but to stay at your place tonight." Leina said as she acted innocent. Laxus stopped in his tracks as she continued to walk along with a wide grin on her face.

"You are really something else. Fine, you can stay, but I want one night's worth of rent." Laxus said as he gave her the same grin she gave him when she made her suggestion.

"WHAT?! You have to be kidding me? Please tell me you're joking?" Leina asked as she ran after him.

~Later That Day~

"You did this on purpose, didn't you?" Leina asked as she sat in Laxus' living room as the rain poured harshly and a loud crash of thunder hit outside.

"I did no such thing. You jinxed it, so it happened." Laxus said with a smirk as he sat on the sofa in his dark grey pajama pants.

"I did no such thing." Leina said as she fell onto the sofa next to him.

Laxus chuckled at her and then the power went out. "You have to be fucking kidding me?" Leina asked as she cursed the world. Her glaring only made Laxus laugh harder as he sat next to her. Suddenly, he shot small lightning shocks to a few candles that were around the room and lit them. "Well that was handy." Leina said in shock.

"One of the many perks of being a lightning dragon slayer." Laxus said as he placed his arms behind his head.

"Although, it would've been better if you had just used your lightning to turn back on the power." Leina said as she smiled at him mischievously.

"I tried that once." Laxus said flatly. "What happened?" Leina asked. "The lacrima blowed up." Laxus said with a snort. Leina gave him a shocked expression then she burst into a fit laughter.

"I bet that was embarrassing." Leina said as she now faced him on the sofa.

"Yeah, it was pretty awkward." Laxus said as he laughed with her.

"Ready to go to bed?" Laxus asked as he yawned.

"Not really, but I might as well since the power is out." Leina said as she laid out on the sofa and wrapped herself in the blanket that was on it.

Laxus gave gawked at her disbelief as he watched her curl up in the blanket that was on the sofa. He sighed as he picked her in his arms and carried her off to his bedroom.

"I thought you said you were going to bed?" Leina asked giving him a suspicious look.

"I am, but no one said that you were sleeping on the sofa." Laxus said as he placed her on the bed and he laid down on the other side.

Leina gawked at him in astonishment, but she complied and laid down. Soon sleep overcame both of them. However, sleep didn't seem to stay with Leina as her mind brought back a painful memory.

~Flashback~

Leina woke up so the sound of harsh coughing. When she opened her eyes the room was filled with a black mist and Peony was coughing up blood as she held Leina in her arms. Leina quickly sat up and saw that blood was all on the pillow.

"Peony why are you coughing up blood?!" Leina asked in horror as she saw all the blood that was on Peony's hands and night shirt.

"You sure do pack a punch in that little body of yours." Peony said with a pained smile.

"I did this to you?" Leina asked her in shock.

"You didn't know that you send out poison from your body when you have bad dreams? I tried to wake you up but that just made it worse. You were crying so much that I just thought if I held you close you'd stop." Peony said as she continued to smile up at Leina.

"What's with all of this mist?" Wilson asked as he burst into the room.

"Wilson, I didn't mean to." Leina said as tears fell down her face.

Wilson hurried to Peony's side as he held Leina close as she cried silently. "It's gonna be okay Leina. Why didn't you come and get me Peony?" Wilson asked his daughter. "I didn't want it to hurt her anymore. I hate when you have to give her that injection. It hurts her and it makes her sick. Please don't use it anymore." Peony said as she tears shed down her blood stains cheeks onto the pillow.

"Who cares what happens to me if you get hurt from it!" Leina yelled in anger as she glared down at Peony.

"I do, your my sister, I'd rather die than see you go through more pain!" Peony yelled as she sat up abruptly in the bed.

"I don't care, I don't want to see you die because of me!" Leina yelled back.

"Face the facts, I'm already dying!" Peony yelled then she started to cough up more blood.

"Stop this, no more yelling. You two know better than that. Peony will be fine Leina, and Peony I promise that I won't use that injection on Leina anymore. If it makes you feel any better I wasn't planning on using it anyway." Wilson said to them both.

"Leina help me get Peony out of these clothes and change the sheets while I run her a bath." Wilson told Leina as he helped Peony get out of her night clothes.

Leina did as what she was told and help get Peony out of her clothes. Once she finished removing the blood stained sheets from her bed she put new ones on it as a tear rolled down her face.

"I'm sorry for yelling at you." Peony said as she stood at her door.

"Peony, you should be in bed." Leina said as he tried to help her go back to her room but she refused to move.

"Listen to me first, you know more than anyone in this house that I'm dying. No one else in the world knows that better than you, after all you can see it yourself. I don't want you blaming yourself as the reason for that. I'm not sick because of you, do you understand me? I'm sick because that's how I've always been." Peony said seriously as Leina hid her face from her view. Peony smiled softly as she lifted her burgundy bangs to reveal her tears stained face.

"You big crybaby." Peony said as she gave her a hug.

"Please don't leave me." Leina whimpered.

"I can't promise that, but I want you to promise me something." Peony said as she walked back to her room with Leina following close behind her.

"I want you to follow your dream and be the best mage in history. No matter what may happen, I don't want you to ever quit chasing that dream. What do I always tell you?" Peony asked as she got back in her bed.

"Never give up, never give in. No matter who stands in your way or what stands in your way, follow your dreams until the end." Leina said with a sad smile.

"You may not be like everyone else, but people were made to be different. No one is that same as someone else. Be who are and forget all of the hateful things people say about you. They're just scared of what you may become, when they should be paying attention to what you will become. I don't want to look down at you and see you let people chose your life for you." Peony whispered.

"I won't, I'll follow my dreams and show the world who I truly am." Leina said.

"Then do we have a deal?" Peony asked as she stuck out of her pinky to Leina.

"Yeah, we have a deal." Leina said with a smile as she linked her pinky with Peony's.

"Good…Now I can…rest easy." Peony said as her eyes finally closed.

~End Of Flashback~

I'm sorry for the sad chapter but the full truth of Leina's past is about to come out so I had to do it. I hope you all liked it and please review.
