As usual, I sorry that this update is late, I'm kinda lazy :(. I'm also sorry that it's short, but at least the plot is moving.
Read and review!
By the time I got back to our dorm it was already five o'clock, I opened the door to find Zero sitting and eating at the small table with his back to me. I didn't feel like speaking to him after what'd happened earlier, and besides, he probably wouldn't talk back anyway. I decided to go and take a shower; I was still full from the huge lunch that Kaname'd bought me earlier, so I didn't need to eat yet.
After showering I decided to make some tea, Zero had disappeared again so I planned on having a nice relaxing evening so I could properly rest up for school tomorrow. Well, at least that was the intention.
When I couldn't find anything good to watch on TV I remembered that I'd brought some DVDs with me, since my laptop had a disc drive in it. I went looking for them and realized that one of my bags was missing, in fact, nothing was where I'd left it this morning. I frowned, just my luck to be roomed with someone so unsavoury, I hope he isn't planning anything. Other than the bag, none of my things were missing, so at least that was a plus.
I searched profusely for it, and upon realizing that it wasn't on my side of the room, I decided to search Zero's things for the small duffle bag. I hoped to hell that he hadn't planned on steeling it; he really didn't strike me as the sort of person you want a confrontation with. I opened up his suitcase and was surprised by how little belongings he had, I mean I know that I brought more than most people, but his things barely filled up half the suitcase and they had to last him all semester. He didn't seem to have any personal items either, all I could find where a few pants and sweaters in very neutral and bland colours, no photographs or goodbye cards from friends, I had heaps of that kind of stuff.
I moved to searching in his drawers next, and as expected all he had in his clothing drawers was his underwear and school uniform, nothing at all surprising, that was until I got to his bedside table. In his bedside table drawer he had a framed photograph, when I saw who it was of I froze in horror. Everything made sense now, the gun, his behaviour, his hatred for Kaname, it all fell into place.
"What're you doing?" Someone ground out from behind me. I turned around and whimpered at the cold glare Zero was giving me, then I realized that I was still holding the photograph. Zero spotted the framed photo in my hand, his eyes widened for a moment before his face contorted with rage. "Put that down!" He screeched at me, sounding more frantic than angry.
"You're a monster!" I yelled back without even thinking, I couldn't help it, his mother killed Shizuka's boyfriend. Zero lunged at me, and before I had time to process what was going on he had me pinned against the wall, the photograph lying forgotten on the ground.
"Shut up!" Zero yelled. "You know nothing about what she did to my family, nothing!" He growled in my face, seeming to be having a lot of trouble controlling his emotions. I gulped and tried to keep myself from saying anything else, Zero was terrifying, but he was right. All I knew about the situation was what Kaname had told me, and he would obviously take his aunt's side. Before the death of her fiancé Shizuka never spoke much about her personal life, so I don't know what her relationship with the Kiryuus was prior to that, and in the photo they looked like such a happy. Zero, his brother, and their parents; just one happy family.
My heart hurt when I realized what Shizuka had done to Zero, she was in so much pain that she ended using to put him through even worse. She lost one person, he lost three, and both had been left to pick up the pieces.
"I, I'm sorry." I muttered, ashamed of myself. Zero let go of my arms and lent down to pick up his photo. He stared at it for a moment with a sad look on his face before putting it back in its drawer and turning back to me. He took a step closer and scrutinized my face with an unreadable expression, he opened his mouth like he was about to say something, but then closed it again and left the room.
I briefly wondered what I'd been doing going through his things in the first place, then noticed something that looked familiar sticking out from under his bed. I groaned and face-palmed when I realized what it was; my missing duffle bag.
At this point I no longer cared what it was doing with someone else's things and just felt irritated that I hadn't found it earlier and avoided that whole dilemma. I grabbed the bag and started rearranging everything in my clothing drawers so that I'd have somewhere to hide it and not have to go through all of this again.
Later on that night I decided to make a call and see if I could get some more answers. I tried to be as quiet as possible as I made my way from the bedroom to the kitchen, not wanting to wake Zero, he didn't need to know that I was prying anymore into his personal life then I already had. The phone rang a few times before I heard a familiar voice on the other line. "Hello."
I smiled. "Hi again." I whispered cheerfully.
"Oh, hello again Aido, I haven't heard from you in hours." Kaname stated with amusement. "What can I do for you?"
"Well, the thing is, I know why you and Zero were fighting earlier." I paused for a moment to see if Kaname had anything to say to this, when I didn't hear anything from his end of the line I took it as a sign to continue. "But, I was wondering, what happened between your aunty Shizuka and the Kiryuus to warrant them to do such a thing to her fiancé?"
Kaname sighed. "Nothing, I thought you knew. The Kiryuus are a family of assassins, they were hired to kill him." I took a moment to let this sink in. None of that made any sense, I knew they were assassins, but what could such a nice man have done to get on someone's kill list? Why did Zero act like Shizuka deserved it? But, if she really deserved it, why didn't they go after her instead of her lover? "Goodnight Aido."
I didn't respond and instead just hung up. I needed time to contemplate this.
