A/N: Alrighttt! This chapter is long in the waiting I know. Its been forever since I've updated this, but wanted to try and get something out.
I apologize for the long break. I've had a difficult 2014, my uncle passed away, so did my dog, and we had a huge battle with my uncles ex wife. It was a mess. That combined with work and college, my life was all over the place.
I'm hoping this chapter is everyone everyones been waiting for. I know I've gotten several requests for this chapter, probably the most requests I've gotten for another chapter of any of my stories, so here it is.
Again, I apologize. And moreso for leaving it on a cliffhanger the way I did.

Chapter 49: Kouga's Possession
"Kouga you can't!"
"I can and I will!"
"But it didn't mean anything, and you promised! You promised you wouldn't go after him, remember!?"
"That was before he coms into my den and claims that my mate and pups are his!"
Their yelling went back and forth that morning in their room. Tamako was beside herself with worry that the fight would take place and someone would die tomorrow. While Kohaku was a human, he was still a demon slayer, and she worried for Kouga. She didn't want to see either of them dying.
They'd also barely gotten any sleep. Tamako had been so upset all night that she couldn't fall asleep. And now that the sun was up it was only a matter of time before the fight began.
Tears welled in her eyes as she looked up at Kouga, stepping towards him and moving to rest her hands on his forearms slowly, gripping them. "Please...for me, for us?" she asked. Gently taking his hands and bringing them down to rest on her stomach, her eyes pleading with him.
"I am doing this for you, for my family." he said, looking down at her. Bringing his hands away from her stomach and moving them to wipe the tears from her cheeks. "I am protecting you. You, Koichi, Sayuri, and the pups you carry are my life. I will not let a human kid jeopardize that."
She shook her head and took in a breath. "But you have nothing to worry on. We are yours, Kohaku doesn't jeopardize anything. Remember...remember I told you of Tokyo..of being together, you and me..."
"Why are you protecting him!?"
"I'm protecting both of you! Sango is my dear friend, and she'd be so upset if something happens to Kohaku. Kohaku is a good man, he's just got this idea in his head that I love him...that I could love him if he kills you. I don't want to loose you, Kouga. And..and I don't want Kohaku's life to end, either."
Kouga shook his head, moving away from her and walking towards the door. "This will happen, Tamako. You'll do well to remember your place. He wants to challenge me? Let him. He'll die by my hand." he said before he walked the rest of the way out.
Letting out a small sob, Tamako ran after him as they walked towards the entrance of the den where Kohaku awaited them wearing his complete demon slayer armor. Tears welled up in Tamako's eyes as she saw him, walking towards him with Kouga.
Stepping up beside Kouga, she shook her head as she looked at Kohaku. "Kohaku please...don't do this..." she asked.
His brown eyes traveled to her and he gave her a soft nod. "I must, Tamako. That is my child you carry and I will be its father."
"Keh, you'll be dead is what. How dare you come into my den and challenge me for my mate?" Kouga growled, gripping his hands into tight fists. "That is my mate, and my pup she carries."
"Enough!" Tamako said. Moving to stand in-between them, resting one hand on both mens chests and glancing between them. "Stop this. If you two do this, I'll never forgive either of you! Look at you two...fighting like children. I am not some possession! Screw the laws, screw demonic tradition. You are like toddlers fighting over a favorite toy! Well, I am not a toy, I am not owned by either of you, and whom I am with is my decision." she said firmly.
Kohaku looked down at her, his eyes softening a little. "Ta-" he started
"NO. Let me finish." she said. Taking in a deep breath and bringing her hands away from them. Glancing at Kohaku and then Kouga. "You both claim to care for me, to care for this child I carry. If you do, you'll not stress me out like this. Stress is not a good thing for a baby, and I've been trying to avoid it. So please...if you two care at all...you'll stop being children. I can't physically stop you...but I can try." she said.
Slowly looking up to Kohaku, shaking her head. "Kohaku...you're a good guy, and you deserve a nice human woman to settle down with, a woman who loves you, adores you, wants to fawn all over you. You deserve a woman who feels for you how I feel for Kouga. He is my mate and husband in every way that counts, and I love him dearly. If you hurt him...kill him...a piece of me will die along with him. We're attached...now and forever. Killing Kouga would condemn me to a lifetime of misery. Look at my father...look how upset he was when my mother died. That will be me. I couldn't...have a family with you when I'd just want to drown in my misery.." she said.
Looking down, she moved her arms to hug herself. Kohaku moved to touch her arm, but she pulled away, shaking her head. "No! No. You remember what it was like in Tokyo? When we were trapped? I was so upset...I don't want to feel that way again..." she said, looking up at him. "If this baby is yours...if...then I will work with you, but not if you kill my mate.." she said. Taking in a breath and looking towards Kouga. "I can't stop either of you. And I will not watch this..." she said.
And with that she moved to walk away from them, tears slipping down her cheeks that her fingers moved up to wipe away. Walking back into her and Kouga's room, she moved to sit down on the bed. It was a little difficult with her belly starting to show like it was, but it was manageable.
Curling up as much as she could, she hugged herself and shifted to lay back and onto her side, letting out a slow sigh. She wanted to lay there and cry. Cry for the fact that her friend and her mate were about to fight each other to the death over something that wasn't an issue. Of course, she could also want to cry because her hormones were going crazy.
Wiping her eyes a little, she pulled the blanket up and over her head, trying to hide away from the world. Gently one hand ran along her stomach as she looked down at it, closing her eyes halfway. She really, really wished they wouldn't do this.
She was so consumed within her own mind she didn't hear the door open, the footsteps up to the bed. But she felt the hand on her shoulder and it made her brush her tears away angrily, her eyes glancing back and seeing Kouga kneeling next to their bed.
"What? You proud of yourself?" she asked angrily. She loved him so much, but right then she wanted to cry and punch him in the face all at once.
Kouga shook his head and let out a sigh, brushing her hair behind her ear slowly. "No. I'm not. You're not a possession...but...but its our way, you know that. And that human out there things that he can have you. I cannot let that happen. I'm protecting you, protecting my family."
Sniffling a little, she shifted to lay on her back, shaking her head. "You're acting stupid. You act as though just because he wants me he'll have me. I'm not like that Kouga.." she said with a sigh, biting her bottom lip lightly. "I love you, gods do I. You're my soul mate, my love. I've seen our future together in a small bit, you're what makes me happy. There isn't anything in the world I'd give that up for.."
"And if these pups are his?" he asked with a small growl.
"They're not." she said. Reaching to take his hand, she brought it down onto her stomach, looking up and into his eyes. "They're yours. Always yours. Please don't fight him...please don't kill him. You can't. He's Sango's brother, and he's my friend. He thinks he loves me, that this will win me over...but it won't.."
Nodding a little, Kouga rubbed her stomach softly, looking up at her face. "I cannot let that human get off easily. He challenged me."
She wiped her eyes again, wiping the tears that threatened to spill over. "How about this. We wait until the pups are born. If they're one hundred percent yours than he has no claim over them. Thats what he's fighting for, claim over pups that aren't even born. And if they are his...than he may stake his claim."
"Tamako...it'll only delay the inevitable..."
Gripping his hand, she looked up into his ocean blue eyes, tears welling in her own. "No it won't. He lays claim apon these children that are not his. Please Kouga...do this, for me?" she asked.
He let out a sigh and nodded, leaning down and kissing her forehead before moving his hands up, wiping her tears away slowly. "Anything for you, my love."
A small smile crept up onto her lips as she nodded. "Arigato." she murmured slowly, laying her head back and letting out a sigh.
"You stay here. You've exhausted yourself. I'll deal with the human." he said. Moving to stand up and walking out of the room, he headed out into the front of the den.
Kouga straightened his shoulders, squaring off to fill his dominant alpha male role. Stopping just in front of Kohaku, he looked up at the boy and nodded slowly. "So, it seems my mate is not pleased. We ensure that our women are happy and content. This fight will make mine very unhappy."
Kohaku grit his teeth, gripping his hands into tight fists. "So you back down then? Because a woman told you to?"
A growl came from Kouga's throat as he glared, shaking his head. "No. You stake your claim over my woman because of the fact that you think those pups are yours, correct?"
Kohaku nodded. "They ARE mine."
"If when the pups are born they are yours, than I will continue this battle, with Tamako's consent. If when they are born they are not yours, you have no claim over my family." Kouga finished, glaring at the younger man standing in front of him. "These are the terms of this battle. This will ensure that my woman is happy. She is carrying my pups, I will not have useless stress put upon her."
Kohaku gripped his hands, gritting his teeth slowly. He wanted this fight, he wanted Tamako. "Regardless, I love her, she belongs with me. I'd never cheat on her the way you did."
At that Kouga chuckled, shaking his head. "You human men, what do you know of mates? I see human men take upon multiple wives, multiple women. Wolves are connected to their mate from the moment we lay eyes upon them. Regardless upon what happens here today, Tamako is mine. Agree to my terms or leave. If you care oh so much about my woman, you'll understand wanting to make her happy, especially whilst she carries the pups."
That only made Kohaku angrier, mostly because he agreed with Kouga. Nodding slightly, he rested his arms down at his sides. "Done. Once she gives birth and its proven to be my child, then I will take what is mine."
Shaking his head, Kouga chuckled. "Whatever, kid. Keep your hands off my woman. Once she does give birth, I will ensure you pay for touching what belongs to me." he said. Nodding to one of the wolves. "You can escort the human out of our den."
Once the wolf nodded, Kouga turned to walk back towards his bedroom with a sigh. Tamako had won, like she usually did. Though he'd really wanted to beat the sense back into that kid. Perhaps he could go on a run, let off steam.
Stopping at the door to their room, he looked over at Tamako and nodded. "Deal is done. I'm going running."
Looking up at him, Tamako smiled a little and nodded. "Thank you. Be careful..."
"Keh, I always am." he said as he turned out of the room, needing to let off a little steam.

A/N: A little short, I know, but hey here it is! :-). I'm not going to promise when the next update will be, but I'll try.
I've thought about wanting to do something like...Tamako and Kouga in Tokyo. Who knows. We'll see. Read and review!
