Chapter 3

The albino sat there, watching the rebuilt house. It had taken a while, but it was finally ready and mostly still the same, except this time it now had a little indoor garden.

That indoor garden had been something that Ludwig always wanted. Something nice and cozy inside to liven up the place. Gilbert understood why, the house had been so dreary and dark, but this inside garden did liven things up.

Later that day Gilbert was in the cemetery, sitting in front of the tombstone that held his brother's name. Tears came to the albino's eyes.

"Well, I rebuilt the house and added that inside garden you always wanted."

He said with a smile, clearing his throat as he wiped away his tears.

"Just come back to me. I'm lost without you! Not to mention, I'm so alone. It's not awesome being alone. It really isn't."

Gilbert turned around as he heard someone walking; he was surprised to see Elizavetha walking up with a bouquet of cornflowers.

"I thought you might be here."

She said and smiled, putting the flowers on the grave and taking a seat in the grass next to Gilbert.

"You're going to stain your skirt."

"I don't really care Gilbert."

She sighed and the two stayed quiet as they mourned together.

"Come on, it'll start raining soon. How about we go grab a bite? I'll buy."

Eliza spoke, dusting her skirt and holding out her hand. Gilbert just looked at her hand, not sure if he should take it or not.

"Gilbert, you can't mourn him forever. He would want you to move on. I know it's hard; you're not the only one who misses him. You may miss him the most but for God's sake! Pull yourself together! What happened to the old Prussia? Please don't tell me he died that same day when Ludwig passed."

She sniffed, tears running down her own cheeks. At that moment the albino took her hand and got up.

"You're right. He'll come back when he's ready."

Gilbert said and smiled a little, causing Eliza to smile back. The two left and went to Gilbert's new house and ordered out; having themselves a nice evening in.

- 2 months later -

Prussia had been doing much better for the past two months. He saw Eliza once a week; she had suggested it and it was doing him good. Gilbert was roaming around in the forest, what was left of it anyway. He stopped and listened to the birds chirping and a child cry in the distance, ah it was wonderful! Wait, what? He listened harder, a child was crying in the distance. Gilbert opened his eyes, if he could hear it so could predators, wolves were becoming more aggressive than ever nowadays. He felt his heart jump; he had to get to that child before any wolf or other predator could!

He ran as fast as he could, pumped with adrenalin he wasn't stopping! Not even if he cut his face on branches or fell down, he got back up. When he got to where he thought the cry had come from; he saw a basket.

"Hello? Anyone here?"

Gilbert called and heard no one, except for the child crying again. He walked over and knelt down and that's when he heard a growl. The albino looked up and saw that he was surrounded by a pack of wolves. He scoffed and took out his pistol.

"Never go home without one."

He spoke to himself and grabbed the basket, which held the infant, though the wolves didn't seem to want to back off.

"You want to do this the hard way? You're almost extinct, I can't really kill any of you."

The Prussian scowled and fired four shots into the air, sending the pack running away.

- Back home -

Gilbert placed the basket down and opened it. His red eyes growing wide at the infant he saw. Tears came to his eyes once more.

"I know those bright blue eyes anywhere."

He sniffed.

"Welcome home, Ludwig."

The albino cried as he picked up the infant with a smile and hugged him close.
