Prussia was unhappy. Actually scratch that, he was practically livid. Germany, his own brother, the nation he had raised from a kid, had not only ordered him to go on this stupid suicidal mission to check out the Allies, but also made him something to eat while slipping something into it that knocked him out for several hours. 18 hours to be exact, but who was counting? Certainly not the most awesome albino nation there ever was! He was just going to have to get West back for that little misdeed. And Italy too. He was sure the brunette was somehow involved.
Said awesome albino nation grumbled a few more curses and pulled the hood of cloak over top of his head and stomped onwards. The fluffy yellow chick that had been resting comfortably in his hair for the majority of the trip chirped in annoyance at being disturbed and fluttered down to rest on his shoulder instead and give a quick peck to signal his irritation. Prussia didn't even react, too focused on where he needed to go.
Why did he even get stuck with this stupid mission anyway? Again, it was likely that devious little brunette. Not a good sign when he was involved in anything. Probably hoping Prussia would somehow get killed by that new nation. He couldn't help but laugh. Like that would ever happen!
But he had traveled most of the day trying to find this new nation and still had nothing. Information had been weak at best and he was effectively given a direction and told to just head that way and look and try not to draw too much attention to himself. Who knew if this new guy was even over there! For all Prussia knew he could have gone somewhere else for the day.
He had kept to quiet back roads once he finally arrived and started his search which meant there was hardly anyone around. Though, those few people who had gone by just seemed to stare as he passed. Probably never seen an albino before. That's right, mere mortals, this is the awesome Prussia!
But still, he hadn't seen anyone in hours and the motivation to complete his mission was beginning to wear thin. Beginning? Forget that, he was already there! What was the worst that could happen to him if he just turned around and headed back to his brother's house?
"Canada!" A loud familiar voice whined, "Why are you being so mean?!"
Prussia's ears perked up at the sound. It had been years since he had seen America around anywhere. The blonde nation had pretty much kept to himself after the American Revolution and Prussia had been too busy in Europe to go wandering off to check up on him. And they were on opposite sides on this war, so maybe he knew where to find this mystery nation? His eyes drifted to a nearby field searching for the origin of the sound.
"Because you're fat. Do another push-up."
Prussia halted in his steps looking in the direction he had heard the conversation coming from. That voice was incredibly familiar, though he couldn't place where he had heard it before. He shrugged as he continued forward listening closely to determine where to go.
"We are exactly the same size! Maybe you should do some too! It would be fair!"
"I already did 500 this morning while you were probably still drooling on your pillow. You need this more than I do."
Prussia rounded a corner coming into full view of the open field to find the two conversing blondes. America was lying on his stomach on the ground grumbling quietly. From where he stood, Prussia could only really make out a few words, mostly childish name calling and desperate pleas for an ice cream break. So it would seem that part of America's training regime never really phased out, Prussia noted with a slight eye roll. But that was easily forgotten as he took in the other standing next to him.
How one could overlook a jacket that bright shade of red was beyond Prussia, as it clearly stood out against the background of the surround field. His dirty blonde hair he had attempted to pull back into a low ponytail, but given its length not being quite long enough it was escaping from its confines to hang around his chin. Dark sunglasses shielded his eyes, but didn't hide the fact that he was annoyed as he grimaced with crossed arms and looked down at the blonde at his feet. Sat at attention beside him was a polar bear about the size of a large dog which was a first for the albino as he started to step forward.
The blonde sighed in frustration and tried to nudge the American with the toe of his boot. "Hey, let's go. You are letting me down and need to get up."
"Five more minutes…"
The man growled and kicked the blonde harshly in the side smiling at the yelping sound that was made. It quickly dropped as his head jerked in the direction the albino spectator and a single eyebrow raised from behind the dark aviators. "There's a weirdo here. Probably one of yours."
"Hey!" America protested, sitting up and rubbing at his side with a glare, "Just because there have been a few instances…" The American paused when noticed who it was that was there and frowned, "What are you doing here, Prussia?"
Prussia blinked for a moment and shrugged seeing no other option. "Mission from West. Supposed to come and check out this new nation on your side-"
"I'm not new, you idiot!" The angry-looking blonde snarled, "I've been there all along!"
All along? Prussia couldn't help the incredulous face that formed. Doubtful anyone would forget that snuggly and loveable personality. "Jeez, Canada. Chill out!" America returned, carefully pulling himself up and brushing some of the dirt off of his pants. "What is wrong with you?"
"What's wrong with me?" Canada said dangerously low and the bear beside him growled darkly, "Nothing is wrong with me. I am just trying to make sure we win this war."
"Yeah, well you are being a jerk about it." America snapped.
"Takes one to know one."
"Well, as much as spending time with the two of you is fun and all," Prussia interrupted, "but I have better uses of my time elsewhere." He added in a low grumble, "Like keeping a certain nation off of my brother…" His crimson eyes fixed on the two nations who stood side by side with similarly matched expressions and arms folded across their chests. "Just tell me what I need to know so I can leave and you can get back to fighting with each other."
"I'm not telling a freaky looking idiot like you shit." The Canadian growled.
"I'm awesome-!"
"You look like…" Canada paused and frowned and Prussia grimaced at having to wait for the insult. "…like…"
"Like he's escaped from an institution?" America supplied with a glance at his brother.
"Yes! That's it." The blonde grinned. "You look like you've escaped from an institution!"
"Right… You know what; I think I have all that I need…" The albino stepped back and turned to head back the way he came. His mission report to his brother was going to be short and sweet: the new guy was crazy.
"Hey! At least take a message back to Germany for us!" The Canadian shouted at him and Prussia turned a bored expression back to the duo. He was glad he had as it gave him that split second to dodge a fist that would have otherwise collided with his face. He gritted his teeth and focused his attention on the blonde attacking him, whirling around on his toes to face the oncoming swings. He was still mostly dodging now, but he was looking for that opening in the other's defenses.
It took a full minute to find it; the blonde favored his right over his left when he swung and Prussia grinned when he took note of it. One dodge… two… perfect opening...-
The albino was suddenly roughly pulled back by his neck and the glance back revealed a nightmare he had never considered. The white bear had a mouthful of his precious cloak and was dragging him backwards and making him lose his footing. His own yellow bird had flown from his shoulder after the initial attack now came to his rescue trying to peck the bear's head to make him release his hold but it wasn't reacting and likely couldn't even feel it.
Prussia struggled to remain upright and avoid the attacks again but it was a losing battle and he tripped and landed flat on his back. He rolled as soon as he was down narrowly avoiding another fist but tangling himself into his cloak meaning was going to be harder to dodge again. He gaped at the small crater that had formed around the blonde's fist as the other lifted it for another attack with a twisted grin. The rumors were true then. This guy was scary strong.
And that meant he wasn't going to be walking away without at least one broken bone. Prussia twisted trying to get his arms free and kicked wildly in the direction of the blonde. The Canadian easily jumped out of the way and lunged forward only to be tackled and knocked to the side.
"What the hell are you doing?!" America shouted, trying to pin his brother's arms down to his sides. Canada snarled and managed to rip one arm free and use it roll them over and switch their positions.
"It would have worked!" The Canadian argued, ignoring the growling of his brother to maintain his position on top. "Germany would have seen how strong we are if we sent back his brother all beaten up!"
"He's got a mouth and he likes to talk!" America snarled back, kicking the other and rolling them again. "It would have been unnecessary!"
The blonde grunted as the white bear knocked into him and joined the fray and Prussia watched in disbelief as the three all began to attack each other. The yellow bird fluttered in front of him and chirped loudly, startling him out of his trance and getting him to move again. He quickly untangled himself and got to his feet. Sometimes it isn't a retreat, it is a tactical regrouping when you are out matched.
Besides, West would be angry if he didn't report home with what he had found.
AN: And he eventually shows up... Hopefully he is up to par with all of your expectations (this is seriously turning into my interpretation of 2p). AND! I managed to not have any PruCan hints in here (I ship it waaay too much).
Thank you to everyone who responded last week. It really meant a lot and I have obviously not been banned yet (both me and the story in question are still here). I will hopefully keep all of my complaining about my life out of the AN's for a bit, but thanks to all of you who even just read along. Have a great weekend and see you all in another week :)
