Guys we're coming to the end! One more tiny chapter after this one. Thank you for all the love and support!
...
They were leaving. And it was time.
They stood on a cliff overlooking the sea, trying to prolong the moment as much as possible.
Each of the boys hugged Nibs in turn, and Wendy kissed him and squeezed him for what seemed like forever.
Tiger Lily held Michael on her hip, rocking him back and forth, holding his head against her shoulder. "I love you my little one," she whispered.
"I love you too Tiger Lily." He patted her cheek.
Peter slapped John on the back, and they embraced. "Good bye my brother," said Peter.
"Good bye Commander," answered John. "Take care of my family."
"Always."
Wendy kissed John on the cheek, and wrapped her arms around him. "Now you know what you promised. You'll be visiting us as soon as the baby's born."
"Of course," he said rubbing her back. "We'll all three be there. And we'll bring Nibs with us too." he said smiling at the boy.
Tiger Lily handed Michael to John and to Wendy's surprise, grabbed her in a ferocious hug. "I will miss you my sister. I do not know what I will do without you," she sobbed.
Wendy burst into tears immediately, swept away in a flood of helpless emotion. "Oh Tiger Lily, you're making this so hard! We must go. And you must stay! But please, please visit us. Stay for as long as you wish. And bring the baby." She bent down to kneel in front of Tiger Lily's stomach. "We will see you soon little one." She whispered. "And your Aunty will spoil you horribly!" She gave Tiger Lily another long hug.
"Are you ready Wendy?" asked Peter.
She nodded wiping the tears from her face. She walked up next to him and tried to put on a brave face. Peter smiled at her, and pulled out a pouch full of pixie dust; the very last bit he had. He sprinkled it on each of the boys, Wendy and himself and tucked the pouch into his pocket.
"Do you have your happy thoughts?" he asked, affixing his first kiss with Wendy firmly in his mind.
"The baby," breathed Wendy. Peter gave her a sidelong glance, thinking her happy thought was going to be about him, but shrugged when she kissed him on the cheek.
"Teddy!" said Michael, and they all began to name off their happy thoughts one by one.
They said one last good bye, and took each other's hands.
"We love you," said Wendy. They began to rise into the air and slowly turned their faces upward and then were gone into the clouds.
John, Tiger Lily and Nibs stood on the cliff for a few minutes more, looking at where their family had disappeared. Slowly John and the Indian princess put their arms around each other and turned to walk down the cliff, ready to face the next day and the rest of their lives.
Nibs stayed for a while longer, his face pointed at the sky. He smiled a knowing smile. "This isn't the end," he said.
