Updated at last! :)
Judy Belle climbed the rough wooden stairs with great churning fear the dug at her heart. "Jade-," she began. Judy Belle couldn't finish her thought though, as Bill brushed past her. Bill almost looked, concerned. Jade noticed this odd behavior from Bill as well. Jade gave Percy and Judy Belle a searching look. Deep in her heart, Jade didn't know what would come tonight. She looked back and noticed that Percy was white as a sheet and was just stumbling in a daze up the stairs. Jade took his soft hands in her rough and weathered ones; having gotten that way from 13 excruciating and demeaning years on that plantation in Louisiana, where she had gotten to feel the real meaning of abuse. "Percy, were gonna be alright okay? Please just stay strong this one last time," Jade plead with him. Even though Percy's soft blue eyes softened at Jade's words, he knew she was lying; Jade said this every night things seemed at their worst.
Percy gulped. All he wanted was not to be hurt again. All he wanted was for his dear mother to put down that brown bottle and love him again. All he wanted, most of all, is to have Michael dead. Through his life he had come to hate his oldest brother, and to pray every night to the almighty Jesus that Michael would soon meet his demise. Of course back then at his small age of 8, did he know it would happen so soon, so terribly fast.
As Jade, Percy and Judy Belle neared the landing on the top of the stairs, panic arose in Jade's throat and she was actually fearing for her life. Stumbling as quietly as they could in the dark, they reached the landing. Jade looked into Judy Belle and Percy's eyes. Percy was tearing up. "Be strong," whispered Jade. But Jades words just bounced off of Percy's brain. They were almost, meaningless and cold. Jade opened the door to the cold, somewhat large room that all of the children excluding Luke and Jon shared. The moment Bill saw them he stood up. His tall figure of 5'10 cast a black shadow on the wooden walls. "Bernie," he called. Bernie emerged from under one of the beds. Only God will ever know what he was doing under there. Strangely, Michael was nowhere to be seen. "You just wait," Bernie ordered.
Michael emerged into the room, Bernie tagging along as he was the one who had went to fetch Michael. "WELL IT LOOKS LIKE BILLY AND BERNIE BOO ARE FEELING A BIT ON THE LAZY SIDE TONIGHT EH?" Michael bellowed. "No, no!" screeched Bernie. "Please, let us assist you!" Yelled Bill. "OH NO, WOULDN'T WANNA PUT YOU OUT! I WOULD HIT YOU BUT THE ONLY LITTLE GIRLS I HIT ARE NAMED PERCY JAMES WETMORE! GET YOUR DEAD ASS OVER HERE PERCY!" Michael screamed, putting emphasis on every word and sounding eerily like Will himself.
Percy tried to get up, but he couldn't feel his legs underneath him and he fell hard on the scratched wooden floor. "GOODNESS ME! LOOKIN' LIKE EVERYONE'S FEELING LIKE A LAZY PIECE OF SHIT TONIGHT! Michael roared with force and volume that almost seemed unheard of at the time. Jade almost threw up in her mouth. "Oh dear Jesus, why?" Michael eyed Percy on the floor with distrust and disgust. He picked up Percy with his rough, tan hands and proceeded to throw him over his back like a large sack of potatoes. He did the unthinkable next.
Percy was frozen in fear as Michael took him by the legs and beat him on the ground like a hammer. It seemed like a dream. it seemed unreal. Within 4 forceful beats to the ground, he fell unconscious, and Jade fell into to tears. Blood was everywhere and it seemed like a murder scene, but alas, the only thing that happened was the beating down of Percy's small body, and his increasingly small heart, being torn again. Is this what God wanted?
Jade looked around at the room after Michael and the twins departed from the scene. She wiped her eyes and looked at Percy's bloody teddy bear on the floor. She picked it up and hugged it. She went over to the corner, and traced on the wall with thick red blood,
"You have to face the rain, before the rainbow comes"
