Germany set his pen aside and groaned. He wasn't going to get anything done at this rate. "Prussia, do you have to sit there?" he growled while rubbing his head.
Normally, one would say that the albino was behaving himself quite well. He wasn't making any noise save for the hardly noticeable rise and fall of his chest and was sitting motionlessly in the corner of the room since he had first snuck in and placed himself there. Today's ensemble included a navy blue shirt and a tan jacket, something that Romano had brought with him considering he had started to visit every morning now (and occasionally in the afternoons as well) to dress up his willing model.
The Prussian's hair was also in the midst of some sort of styling treatment, courtesy of the blonde Italian, and it was still being experimented with. Today it had been brushed back and given a side part, all the while Romano had clucked his tongue and muttered questions of when the last time had been that Prussia had done anything with his hair.
But still, despite the fashinato's best efforts he could not get the albino to part with his cloak. Whenever anyone attempted to take it from him he would cry miserably until it was returned and so it was just being worked into his outfits. Romano was a bit disgruntled at that and would occasionally mutter his complaints in an irritated fashion but was slowly letting them go in favour that he was still able to play with someone else's style.
Once freed of Romano's grasp, the nation would follow the others of the house around. Austria didn't seem to mind the new found attention as it gave him an audience for his music or someone to have cater to him and he had yet to find complaint in the albino's treatment. Germany would normally be one to agree at the unusual change even if he felt at fault for it, however it was times like these that he very much disliked this new version of his brother.
Prussia was staring like some sort of unnerving doll that had been dumped in the corner of the room. His face would be set in one that appeared intrigued with whatever was happening in front of him even if it was just Germany bent over a desk reading mountains of text. But the blonde could see him out of the corner of his eye and it was distracting how he never seemed to blink. He had lost count of how many times he caught himself silently ordering the other to move or do something that proved he had not been replaced with a wax replica of himself.
Prussia blinked at the outburst and Germany was relieved. "What is wrong?"
The German nation sighed. "Could you spend today with Austria?"
The albino quickly shook his head. "He needed to visit his home for a meeting."
"Romano?" Germany asked with some form of hope.
"Shopping with Spain."
Desperation was seeping into the blonde's tone now. "Hungary?"
"I…" The Prussian wrung his cloak between his fingers, "I do not want her to yell at me."
Germany's face never changed as he stared at the quivering lump known at his brother and without looking picked up his desk phone and held it to his ear. Soon the female nation's sweet voice was echoing back to him in greeting as he deadpanned his request. "Can you take Prussia for the day?"
The cheerfulness in her voice was almost instantly gone. "Why? What has he done now?"
Germany rubbed his face with his free hand mostly to avoid having to see the terrified look on his brother's face. "I just need him to be somewhere else so I can get some work done."
"And you think I don't have anything to do?" she demanded back to him and he winced slightly.
"He will be very quiet but he just needs something to keep him occupied." Germany pleaded.
Hungary was silent for a while. "We are speaking about your brother, right?"
"We are." Germany confirmed.
"There is no way I will believe you when you say he will be quiet."
"Then come see for yourself." Germany told her, ignoring how Prussia was shaking his head wildly from side to side, "You can decide after you see him."
"Listen to me very carefully," she said sternly through the phone and Germany felt compelled to give her his full attention in a way he had never been before, "if I arrive and you are lying, you will regret it."
The German nation gulped. "I'm not."
"Good dear, then I will see you soon!" she replied once again in a cheerful tone. "Szia!"
By the time Germany had replaced the phone, his brother was missing from the room. He sighed and made a mental note to fake calls to those Prussia did not want to see when he needed some time alone.
When Hungary eventually did step through the door, her friendly smile was in place, but her green eyes were flickering around the room suspiciously. "Where is he?"
"Hiding," was Germany's gruff reply as he turned to call over his shoulder. "Prussia! I am counting to drei. I will be angry if you are not here by then." He gave it a moment for the albino to understand what he had said and started to count. "Eins! … Zwei…!"
"Please don't be angry." The albino mumbled as he shuffled into view. Hungary's eyebrows rose as he approached with his head down and stood behind his younger brother. "What is this?" she asked quietly to the blonde after looking the other up and down.
Germany glanced to the nation peering out from behind his shoulder before addressing her valid question. "We fought last week. I may have been… And he…"
Hungary continued to look confused and stared at the two. "And he took it like a girl?"
"Your dress looks very pretty today." Prussia whispered, just his maroon eyes and grey hair visible and the rest hidden behind Germany's arm.
Hungary hummed as she studied the other. "And what are you wearing?"
"Romano has been dressing him lately." Germany quickly answered, saving his brother from having to speak. The albino nodded gratefully in agreement.
"Romano has…?" The Hungarian nation muttered in surprise. "Do you like doing that?" She asked him and Prussia nodded again. The brunette's brow creased as she considered his answer and then made her offer, "I have some things you could try on if you would like." Prussia seemed to think about it for a moment before cautiously stepping out and nodding one more time. This seemed to please the female nation and she smiled quite wide. "I think I will spend today with him, Germany. I don't know how long this will last and an opportunity like this should never be wasted."
Germany could do little more than agree and usher the two out the door, heaving a sigh as he leaned against the wall. Finally he could have some peace and a smile began to appear on his face as he walked back to his office. His enthusiasm was incredibly high as he stepped into his private room moments before it was all completely dashed by what was perched waiting for him on his desk: a leering smile stretched more to one side and fuchsia eyes that glinted mischievously. "I never thought they would leave."
And this is how Germany came to be yet another day behind on his work.
