August 1, 12:00 P.M. Wright and Co. Law Offices

Phoenix tapped his foot repeatedly, bored out of his mind. He had been waiting for the past few hours for the judge to either continue the trial or suspend it until the next day. He personally thought that if he had it his way, the trial would have gone on despite the car crash outside the court.

His outfit remained as it had in the morning; the tie, sport coat, and even his shoes hadn't been taken off or changed. He hadn't even eaten lunch. Phoenix cared about the case to the point of where hunger wasn't an issue. The defense attorney just wanted to prove Jamie Patterson's innocence and find the real killer.

Just when it felt like he was going to be sitting in the office all day long, the telephone rang. It caught him by surprise, as he wasn't expecting it to happen. He lunged for the receiver and put it up to his face.

"Hello, this is Wright and Co. Law Offices. Please state intentions."

"Mr. Wright, this is Officer Mike Meekins, sir!"

"Yes, Officer. What seems to be the problem?"

"Sir, I just had the drunken teen chat with me. He talked about getting the drugs and beer from two friends of his, which are girls. One of which is apparently crazed and homicidal, and is capable of going postal."

"I see. I recommend you submit an affidavit to the judge and inform him of the processing of the accused."

"Yes, sir! I will certainly do it sir! I won't let you down, sir!"

The line disconnected suddenly.

Phoenix placed the receiver back in its place and laughed silently to himself.

"I'm not sure what Officer Meekins smoked a short while ago. Perhaps it was a little more than the usual tobacco. Then again, I don't believe he smokes, but whatever. I will inform Jamie about the trial being resumed before I make my way to the courtroom."

August 1, 12:18 P.M. District Court, Defendant Lobby No. 3

Phoenix checked his watch and looked at the police officers in front of the door to the courtroom. He managed to catch his breath on his walk from the entrance, but realized the trial would start soon so he would have to make his rundown to Jamie as short as he could.

"I don't suppose you have anything that could potentially help us to find the killer."

She sighed, "Mr. Wright, as much as I would like to have something, I have nada, as Mr. Helado would say." Phoenix groaned, "The only real lead I have is an affidavit allegedly submitted by Officer Meekins. Otherwise, we're screwed so far as I'm concerned."

An announcement came over the intercom. It blared, "Mr. Phoenix Wright, are you in this building? If so, get right in Courtroom número uno this instant! Otherwise, the trial will be cancelled and called off until tomorrow morning! Go in, if you dare!" The intercom clicked.

Phoenix wiped some residual perspiration off his face and responded, "Can Helado not get in my path someway or another every fifteen minutes?!"

Jamie yelled, "Who cares? Let's go!" He tugged the attorney on the floor by his sport coat in excitement and into the courtroom full of people, spectators, and news crews.

August 1, 12:20 P.M. District Court, Courtroom No. 1

The gallery was already chattering up a thunderstorm by the time the defense attorney sat down and got out his Court Record papers and slapped them against the top of the bench. Phoenix said to himself, "Tell Balboa over here I surrender..." The judge took his seat and broke the noise with one gavel smash.

"The court will now reconvene for the trial of Ms. Jamie Patterson. Mr. Helado, I have to admit I've never seen such a fast entry into the courtroom by anyone. You sure lured Mr. Wright right in the courtroom."

Helado sneered, "De nada. Anyway... where were we in the trial again?"

His Honor replied, "Officer Meekins was giving his testimony when that drunkard boy crashed his car into the innocent bystander's vehicle. Since then, we have received information from Officer Meekins in regards to the nature of the driver." Helado reacted to this by screaming, "¡Objeción!"

"Such evidence is irrelevant to the case! I demand it be withheld!"

The judge shook his head side-to-side. "Objection overruled. This evidence is relevant because it was recently discovered by Officer Meekins that the teenager at fault may have connections to the case. However, that is for later. For now, Mr. Helado, the next witness!"

"Yes, Your Honor. I have decided that my next witness shall be Olivia Mazak, since she testified at the trial of Bethany Andrews and may have some useful information in regards to the case."

Phoenix thought, "Didn't we already prove that she was making up half the things that she said?!"

Helado smiled (evilly) as Mazak took the said stand and glared at the news crews in front of the court gallery. She gave the cameraman for CNN a leer and coughed twice. She said, "So, Mr. Helado, what was the hold up?"

He replied, "I just had to set a few things straight in this trial, you see. Now you can testify interruption-free. The judge continued, "Ms. Mazak, you can provide your testimony. Please inform the court exactly what you know about the murder."

She sighed, "I could perhaps give you some insight. For one, I know that the drunkard kid was a friend of the defendant. They talk to each other frequently, especially during band, and he could be potentially involved with the sale of weapons, and the purchase of alcohol that led to the incident. The whole crash was designed to cover up evidence, and to silence the kids in the other car!"

Helado, "Yes..."

The judge resumed, "Mr. Wright, Cross-Examine the witness, if you please."

Mazak reiterated her testimony to the news cameras and the gallery.

"I could perhaps give you some insight. For one, I know that the drunkard kid was a friend of the defendant. They talk to each other frequently, especially during band, and he could be potentially involved with the sale of weapons, and the purchase of alcohol that led to the incident."

Phoenix yelled, "Hold it!"

"Why do you assume that he was a friend if you couldn't determine it with certainty?"

Mazak groaned to herself, "He never believes anyone the first time around. Classic defense attorney."

However, she said aloud, "If two people are hanging around each other, and they aren't dating, they must be friends. He therefore must be the accomplice of Jamie Patterson, the murder and your client."

Phoenix shook his head. "Why are you so convinced that my client shot and killed Reggie Simmons in the first place?"

"No one else had a motive to kill him. And besides, Reggie was known as the 'Lady Killer'." Phoenix gasped, "Lady... killer?!"

The judge watched as the whole gallery erupted into outrage and disarray. He responded by slamming his gavel downwards three times.

"ORDER! Order in the court! Ms. Mazak, why was the victim known as the 'Lady Killer'?"

She replied, "For some reason, all the ladies liked Reggie. They all wanted to date him, but he turned down two-thirds of them. In fact, my friend Sybbie was one of the lucky ones. She dated him for 6 months. So it might just be that Ms. Patterson slaughtered him out of OUTRAGE and DISCONTENT!"

Jamie performed a facepalm. "I didn't even like Reggie! I was already TAKEN! TAKEN, I say! By Wyatt Jarvis! It's a fact!"

Phoenix scratched his head. "There's something fishy going on here. She keeps trying to indict Jamie, when the evidence refutes all her claims. Perhaps she has something to do with it?"

The judge asked, "Ms. Mazak, please add that statement to your testimony." She yelled, "And Jamie had tried to get Reggie and failed! Proof that she is culpable lies in between the lines!"

Phoenix screamed, "Objection!"

"Ms. Mazak, your theory would work. It's just that there is one small problem. And that problem is this: Jamie had nerver showed romantic interest in Reggie to begin with. In fact, her arrest report states she was on the phone exchanging texts with her boyfriend, Wyatt Jarvis!"

She screamed, "Eeek!"

The defense attorney slammed his hands downward. "She was already in a relationship! Therefore, she would have no reason to commit murder, let alone premeditated homicide!" The court gallery once again erupted into chatter.

The judge smashed the gavel even harder. "ORDER! ORDER! ORDER!" Phoenix continued, "Ms. Mazak. There is also another piece of evidence in the Court Record I can use to further prove you are in fact shifting the blame on my client!" The judge asked, "I see. Please allow me to take a look, Mr. Wright."

"Take that!"

"Hmm. An affidavit from Officer Meekins, I see. Drugs, alcohol... guns sold to... we quit, Mr... ah. I see now."

Phoenix yelled, "That's correct, Your Honor. It appears that Reece Handel, the guy who caused the 'accident' in front of this very court may have a connection to two suspicious girls, who gave him guns in exchange for drugs and alcohol. One of the girls has a bizarre mentality. It is clear from the evidence that one of the girls he was referring to was the witness... Olivia Mazak!"

Mazak jumped into the air and looked frightened. She grabbed her brown hair and covered her face. The defense attorney continued, "Therefore, the defense is indicting Ms. Olivia Mazak with charges of aiding and abetting and conspiracy to commit murder!"

The judge announced, "Ms. Mazak, you are not going to be arrested at this point, but you are dismissed from the stand until these allegations have been proven or disproven."

Helado got red in the face and screamed, "¡Hijo de perra!"

Glaring at the defense attorney, he took a seat do give himself time to think. Phoenix thought, "Yes. This is just what I needed. Now I can turn the case Helado has made around and reveal the truth!" The jury became even louder as the news cameras focused on the fuming prosecutor, now visibly angered.
