August 1, 4:02 P.M. District Court, Defendant Lobby No. 1

Jamie said, "Mr. Wright, I'd personally like to congratulate you on getting a Not Guilty verdict. I knew you'd be able to sort out the evidence!" Alli added, "I'm maybe starting to regret showing up with Maya to watch Sybbie blow up herself." Phoenix shrugged his shoulders. "It's all in a day's case," he muttered.

Maya still was in thought. "Nick, I am curious about Prosecutor Helado. I'm not sure why he just gave up on his case when he realized he couldn't prove it. Most of the time these prosecutors don't give up until they're seen a Guilty outcome. I wonder what he was thinking."

Phoenix replied, "I just think Mr. Helado was a decent prosecutor and he is fair and realizes when his case has fallen to pieces." Jamie asked, "Mr. Wright, I'm not sure if this is really valid or not, but is there a chance we will see you again?"

"Well, that's a long story. It could depend on possible press releases, and other stuff. I'm sure we'll meet again. I don't know why I feel that way, but I just do." Alli was then approached by a man holding a large camera with the CBS logo on the side. The reporter questioned, "Ms. Brooks, going into this case, did you feel you were going to…"

Maya sighed as the makeshift interview was being conducted right in the middle of an existing conversation. Phoenix sighed, "Maybe I spoke too soon…"

After a solid two minutes of asking questions to her, the young man holding the camera walked off just as another reporter began his interview. This time, it was a man in his 40's wearing thick bifocal glasses. He happened to work for CNN. At the same time, a Fox News cameraman asked, "Mr. Wright, would you care to answer some questions from our viewers?" Knowing that it was perhaps one of the few times he was on the news, he agreed.

By the time the media had left the lobby, the clock was half-past six in the evening. The girls were all exhausted from the interviewers, and Phoenix was exhausted just because he wanted to get back to the law office for some last-minute paperwork.

He groaned, "I believe the time has come for us to go back to the office. Maya, is there any chance you'd like to go get…" "B-Burgers?!" Phoenix replied, "Yes. Burgers." "If that's the case," Maya teased, "you're buying!" The defense attorney noted, "I always end up buying burgers for you. That's why it's not easy to support a Fey."

"Um… Mr. Wright?" Alli inquired. Phoenix ended the brief discussion about possible caloric refreshment with Maya and responded, "Yes, Alli?"

"M-Mr. Wright… I'd first like to go to see my friend first." He asked, "Why?" She explained, "You know how Olivia Mazak tried to kill Principal Watson during his speech?" "Mm-hm."

Alli sighed and continued. "For the speech, the crowd was so large that my friend was standing directly behind him. When she fired the shots, one of them missed Watson and ended up hitting her instead. She's in the hospital right now… and I want to know how she's doing. Rumor has it she was in critical condition…" Small amounts of moisture appeared on her face near her eyes.

Phoenix stammered, "T-That's horrible… You know what. Let's go back to the law office. I'll get us stuff from Mickey D's. Then, I'll take us to the hospital where your friend is. But which hospital is she at?"

Alli confirmed, "She's at Mercy Hospital. The one in the middle of downtown." Maya gathered her belongings and the four of them made their way out of the lobby amidst all of the police and reporters.

August 1, 7:25 P.M. Mercy Hospital, Intensive Care Unit

Phoenix inhaled deeply as the doors of the elevator opened wide. A long hallway filled with beds with patients in them side by side now came into view. The sound of several ventilators running out of sync with each other filled the air, which seemed to bother both Jamie and Alli.

After a small solemn pause, all four of them walked down the hallway at a slow pace, as if they were at a wake. They continued down the hallway until they reached a bed roughly 20 feet from the end of the hallway. There, they saw a bed with a girl in her mid teens laying down silently.

Alli looked at the girl, and then whispered to Phoenix, "It's her." He looked at the name placard above her bed, which read: Jaci Summers.

Maya sighed, "Hopefully she'll wake up soon." Alli replied, "According to my mom, she got out of surgery a few days ago. She's probably tired."

Jamie asked, "Alli, do you want me to wake Jaci up?"

Alli answered, "Let me wake her up. She'll recognize my voice."

After a small pause, Alli softly said, "Jaci. It's me, Alli."

Within a second, Jaci had opened her eyes and she sat up slowly. After rubbing her eyes with her left hand (her right arm was immobilized because of the intravenous line), she asked, "Alli? Where have you been all this time?"

"Alli and I were blamed for Reggie's murder. But I'd like you to meet Phoenix Wright and Maya Fey. They managed to save us from the death penalty and find the true culprits!"

Jaci laughed. "I'd like to hear the full—."

Phoenix interrupted, "We'll tell you later."

Maya asked, "So you're name's Jaci?" The teen clarified, "Well, I'm Jaclyn Summers. But I go by Jaci. Who are you?" The spirit medium answered, "Maya Fey. I helped Alli escape prosecution."

Jamie groaned, "But even after all of the mess was cleaned up, we now have three people no longer in the band. And we've lost our best player. I don't think the band will be able to do very well this year at Angelfest. I suppose we'll lose… again."

Phoenix yelled, "Angelfest? I remember back when I was in high school and we got first place in the 3A category." Jaci was shocked. "What! You went to James Madison?! We haven't managed to get a single first place finish in 12 years!" Maya asked, "Why not?"

Jamie grumbled, "This one school called West Eagleland has beat us every time. It's really annoying. Sometimes they win by just a few points. I'm starting to think the judges are getting bribed to keep up their streak!"

Phoenix sighed, "If only I could help somehow. I personally sorta want to get back into music. I think I even still have my trombone at the law office."

"Nick, what about me?!" Maya exclaimed loudly. Phoenix sighed, "Maya, I understand your concern. But maybe if one of you three could convince Bethany… maybe I could…"

Alli gasped, "Go… back to band camp? Join a high school marching band in your 20s? Sounds like a pipe dream to me. But I'll ask."

Jaci added, "And if you do join, then I'll be leading your section!" Jamie corrected, "Fred leads the trombone section, Jaci."

She recalled, "Well, Fred used to. He led it for one day. The second day, Ms. Andrews asked me if it was all right if I led the section because Fred was getting a job and wouldn't be there as much as a section leader would have to. So he was demoted and I replaced his position."

Maya asked, "So Alli… Jamie… how much longer are you going to stay here at the hospital?"

Jaci said, "I'm here for another 12 hours, for observation purposes. As for Alli and Jamie, I bet they're staying here for a while yet. Mr. Wright, how about you tell us the story of who's Guilty?"

Phoenix answered, "It would be my pleasure."
