Second chapter, let me know what you think!
Hinata never felt worse in her life. It had been one month since the funeral, and she could tell it was starting to happen.
True it was just a feeling, call it women's intuition, but she could see it in Shino's eyes. He was starting to doubt if he could manage. Without his older brother bringing in money they were falling into debt fast. His dad was a useless drunk, spending more time in bars then with his family. All of his little brothers and sister were too much to handle.
It was too much for him, just a high school kid to handle. His grades dropped faster than Hinata though possible, and he started skipping classes. He was going to leave her, leave her and run off to Gaara and join the fucking yakuza.
It made her so mad. Oh how she hated Sabaku no Gaara, she didn't know him, didn't talk to him. But she hated him. She just knew, he was going to steal Shino away from her. He was going to ruin him, turn him into the very thing he had hated.
Oh how she hated him, but as much as she hated him. She loved Shino more.
She tried to help, Kiba tried, but it wasn't enough. No matter how much money she gave him, no matter how often Kiba baby sat, it wasn't enough. There wasn't enough money, not enough time, too much stress. He couldn't take it, and she couldn't take it, and Kiba had enough problems of his own with his sister.
It was just too much, and Hinata wasn't angry at Shino when he finally gave in to Gaara. She didn't hate him for not being strong enough, she didn't blame him.
She blamed Gaara.
School was harder without Shino, but Hinata was glad. Happy for him, the stress was gone from his face, his family was safe and happy.
She still worried for him though. When Gaara had first turned up there had been a fight. Naruto, Sasuke, and Gaara had all ended up in the hospital beaten and bruised. No one knew what the fight had been about, or what went down, but from then on Naruto and Sasuke, who had once been best friends now had a rift between them. Gaara seemed to be the biases for that rift, yet none of them ever said. One week later Naruto's pervert of an uncle took him away, far away from Sasuke and Gaara.
Hinata who had once had a crush on Naruto which had dissipated over time was still hurt when he failed to say goodbye. But he hadn't said goodbye to anyone, so she didn't feel as bad.
The wounds he had gotten from Gaara and Sasuke had been life threatening people whispered, Shikamaru Nara who had joined up with Gaara shortly after knocking up Sabaku no Temari, Gaara's older sister, had ended up in the hospital for three weeks with internal bleeding.
The fear that Shino would end up like Shikamaru or Naruto in intensive care, the fear that he might not be as lucky clutched her. That she might lose one of the only two people in her life that she actually cared about.
In a way she already had lost Shino, but, in his own way he was still hers. It was complicated, but then it was always complicated when it came to the three of them.
A few months later Gaara stole Kiba away from her, or at least that's how she saw it.
Kiba's mother was in rehab and he had been living with his older sister Hana and her boyfriend. Kiba and Hana's boyfriend had never exactly gotten along, and Hana's apartment had always been a little cramped with three people living there. Yet suddenly Hana was pregnant, Kiba was homeless, and Hana's asshole of a boyfriend promised to stop beating her for a whole nine months.
Kiba stayed with Hinata for a bit, her older brother Neji had left for college at the beginning of the year and her younger sister was rarely home. Her father was never home and the cleaning lady kept her mouth shut to the entire affair.
Kiba and Hinata had never looked right, though they had never been 'together,' they acted like it they were so close. Hinata was a petite, curvy, rich girl. She wore designer jeans, hundred dollar shoes, and carried burberry purses. Her hair was always perfect and her porcelain skin had just the right amount of makeup, not too much, but enough to make her look even more stunning than she already was.
Kiba was as far away from the image of what Hinata's friends should be. He wore cut up nirvana shirts, ripped jeans, and a pair of used combat boots he had found in a garage sale. He had tattoos on his face and back, piercings in his eyebrows and lip. His hair was shaggy and always sticking up, unaffected by gel, water, or anything else Hinata tried to use to tame it. Yet despite how they looked together they were best friends, and Kiba would never hurt Hinata, and she would follow him blindly anywhere.
So for a few months Kiba stayed with Hinata, and she thought that maybe it would be all right. Maybe Kiba would be able to stay with her, and that everything would work out. That Gaara wouldn't steal both Kiba and Shino away from her.
Then one day her father came come early from a business trip, and he wasn't exactly happy to find a 'punk ass' boy sleeping in the same bed as his daughter.
After that, it was only a matter of time. And eventually Gaara got them both.
Life was hell for the next couple of months. Hinata lost her two best friends, not exactly, but it was close. Since she had first met Kiba and Shino in second grade they had been best friends. Her life had revolved around them. When she had been teased by a couple older girls in 6th grade it had been Kiba and Shino who had taken her to the bathroom to clean her up and called the cleaning lady to come pick her up from school. When Shino went on his first date it had been Hinata who picked out his outfit and combed his hair. When Kiba got his drivers license it had been Hinata and Shino who had thrown him a party at Hinata's house.
It had been Kiba who drove Hinata to school, Shino who had walked her to class every day. She ate lunch on the roof with both of them, always turning down Ino and Sakura when they asked if she wanted to eat lunch with them instead.
Now…Kiba was always busy in the morning, so she took the bus. Shino was late for class almost always now so she stopped expecting to see him waiting for her before classes. Both of them ate lunch with Gaara now so she ended up taking up Ino's offers.
She barely saw the two people that she had once considered the only two people that mattered in life. Yet she still worried about them. One day Kiba failed to show up to school at all, she scoured the school for Shino, and when she didn't find him she settled for Sasuke. Interrogating him for information about Kiba until she had gotten every detail of what happened out of him.
Kiba showed up to school the next day with a limp and a black eye. Hinata was pissed.
It was then that she started thinking, and that was a dangerous thing for her to do.
She knew that Gaara looked at her, she knew he wanted her, that he 'liked' her. Ino and Sakura had whispered it to her the other day. And with that a plan started to form. She waited until the perfect moment, until she had everything in place.
And then one day it happened.
"Sabaku no Gaara. I need to talk to you."
So...review? Please?
