It wasn't prostitution, it wasn't wrong. It was a necessity. It was all she had, every asset that she could have gathered in one boat. It wasn't the wrong thing to do, if anything it was the right thing to do. Without it Kiba and Shino might be dead, she had too. They were all she had. They were her life, her family, they had taken care of her, kept her safe.

They had already given everything for her, and now she had to give everything for them. Now it was her job to keep them safe, because after all that had happened she was all they had too. And she knew it.

So yes, she had made a deal with Sabaku no Gaara. And yes that deal involved sex, money, and her friends lives.

In a moral sense it was wrong, and she knew it. But in a sense of friendship, and in a sense of honor it was right. They had saved her from much worse in her life. She had to save them, as much for herself as anything else.

Yet it still hurt when Sakura talked behind her back. When the girls in the hallways gave her looks of distain. When the guys snickered as she walked past. It hurt.

But it hurt more to think that she might have to live the rest of her life without her two best friends. To think she could be responsible for their pain, their death.

The teacher asked a question and she snapped back to reality, pulling her eyes away from the window.

"And your homework for tonight is-" The bell cut his words short and the class rushed out the classroom. Hinata gathered her books slowly, carefully placing them into her bag and stood to find a brooding young man behind her.

"Sasuke? Did you need something?" He brushed his hair out of his eyes giving Hinata a level stare.

"I was waiting for you." It took her a moment to process this as she stood there, a confused look on her face.

"Well, its lunch time…" he trailed off, black eyes peering at her.

"Oh…right." She muttered and walked out the door with him following close behind.

They walked side by side down the hallway neither one making any attempt at conversation until they reached a red haired boy leaning against Hinata's locker.

Sabaku no Gaara smirked and took her books from her.

"Hello Hinata, how were your morning classes?" She glanced at him as he gently placed her French book in the locker.

"They were fine…" Her soft voice barely reaching his ears in the noisy hallway. He nodded and slipped his arm around her waist and directed her toward the cafeteria Sasuke following slowly behind. Hinata walked into the loud cafeteria immediately noticing how Sakura scoffed and turned away from her.

"Hey," Kiba smiled up at her as she settled down beside him, "you alright?"

Hinata nodded again and pulled her lunch out of her bag.

"Aww cheer up Hina. Sakura's just being a bitch, don't let it bother you." He said ruffling her hair. Shino who had dropped down across Hinata tilted his head.

"Listen to Kiba, he's right for once."

The blush that covered Hinata's face faded and she clasped Shino's hand and smiled.

"Thanks guys."

When lunch finally ended, Gaara walked Hinata to class his arm snaked around her waist. The nasty looks followed her everywhere, making her paranoid, but surprisingly she felt better with Gaara next to her instead of alone.

"Hey Hinata, did you finish the math homework?" Ino called from across the room. Gaara smiled at her and hesitated before kissing her on the check.

"I'll see you after school."

She nodded and hurried over to Ino, pointedly ignoring Sakura and Karin's stares.

Ino, despite being a platinum blond, sleeping with teachers to pass classes, and seeming to have the worst possible choices in men was very smart.

"Oh honey…" Ino sighed running her hand through Hinata's hair. "Forget those idiots Hinata, honestly," Ino's clear blue eyes seemed to pierce Hinata, examining her very thoughts. "Sakura and the other girls will get over it eventually, just give them some time okay?"

Hinata glanced over at Sakura who seemed to have adopted a permanent scowl just for her and wondered if Ino was telling the truth.

She figured it didn't really matter much anyway. She could manage without Sakura, as long as she had her friends still.

And if Ino was telling the truth then everything would be okay.

It already seemed to be getting better.

Review? I know this one was shorter...but...ehh...
