DISCLAIMER: I do not own Assassin's Creed, it's all Ubisoft. I only own Rozalina and Alexei etc.
Big thank you for the lovely comments so far, I truly appreciate it all. Sorry this is so late, been really busy with A levels. They suck.
Chapter 6: It Begins
He quirked his eyebrow at me, I rolled my eyes. Nodding my head towards the door as I started making my way to open the door, I looked back. He was right behind me.. holy god he moves fast. I didn't hear him... I'll be walking behind him for the rest of my life before he gives me a heart attack.
"Let us go, Rozalina" His deep voice brought me back to reality. He had left the door wide open, looking back as he made his way down the steps. He rolled his eyes at me now, how typical of him..
"Where are we sparring?" I looked round the doorway as he made his way round the house. Oh for god's sake Connor, I'm going to smack him for the constant no-answering-my-questions attitude. I sighed.
I jogged behind him.. oh, he has a nice butt. Second reason to walk behind him more often, god bless assassins with good butts. He stopped abruptly and spun around, diverting my eyes to his face before he realised where my eyes were originally. I looked round, the cliff... really?
"I'm pretty sure you're trying to kill us both" I mumbled shaking my head as the scenarios of death rolled within my head. I should write a will before each mission..actually I'd most likely haunt Connor and make him feel guilty if I fall off the cliff.
" You won't die, neither will I" Connor stated sternly, pissed mood yet again activates.
"We're on a cliff, if I fall off and die. I'll blame you " I pointed at him, curling my lip to show my irritation with the possibility of falling off a god damn cliff. "What rules are we going by?"
"Rules?" Oh god help me Connor.. of course. I don't want to kill us both before we kill off Templars.
"Weapons? Bare knuckles? How the match gets won?" I looked at him questioningly.
"I guess you can decide..." Connor shrugged. Oh how was I going to cope with such a naive boy?
"Bare hands, no weapons. Whoever gets the opponent to the floor five times wins, deal?" I shrugged off my robe, my weapons belts and hidden blades. I rolled my shoulders as I waited for him to be ready, the popping of bone felt great under my skin. I clicked my knuckles, pushing my fingers into a fists as I took my stance. My eyes narrowing onto Connor's movements. Them eyes though, stop it Rozalina!
"Ready when you are Captain" I smirked when he huffed, with his robe off I could easily tell how muscular he was, his shoulders looked like damn boulders. Oh jesus, stop it.
"I won't hold back" He was sending me warnings? Pfft.
"Neither will I, I am an assassin not a twelve year old girl Captain" I snapped, I beckoned him forward with my fingers. "Come on, sailor"
He stepped forward, we circled each other like eagles. Our eyes lit like hungry wolves looking for weakness. That's when I strike. I flipped backwards onto my back to confuse him, using my upper body strength to launch my legs forward thinking I could kick him over. He grabbed my leg flipping me back to the ground. I rolled out his way just as he was about to hold me down, I slammed a kick into his stomach. Rolling him over onto his back as my pushed my feet onto his knees and my elbows onto his shoulders harshly. I grinned, "Point to me I believe, Captain"
He reached his hand up to me. Bloody boy can't eve- he grabbed my hand, flinging me down to the ground as he pushed his boot onto my chest. "A point to me as well"
"That was not a smart thing to do Captain" I smirked slamming my arm into his shin and pushing him to my side as I rolled out of his way. He stood, determination like fire in his eyes.
I stood, challenging him as we advanced towards each other. He threw a punch which I blocked, gripping his wrist and twisting him around. His other hand gripped my shoulder as he threw me over his shoulder, tearing my clutch from his wrist as I landed on my back with a groan. We continued our sparring for another half an hour until we both had four points. Whoever got another point won, I wasn't going to lose.
The heat was getting to me, my skin hot and covered in beads of sweat. My lungs having difficulty with breathing as I almost wheezed and coughed. How did Connor cope in this heat, my throat is so dry and my lips are cracking. I crouched, grabbing a handful of dirt in my hand. I was going to win this. Connor ran towards me as I flung the dirt towards him, he unexpectedly flipped over my back. Kicking me in the back as I stood so I grabbed his leg, swinging him in front of me. He stumbled to the cliff edge, I grabbed the front of his shirt. Pulling his weight forward onto the ground, I placed my foot on his torso. "I believe I win, Captain"
He huffed, standing and brushing the dirt from his clothes. What a sulker. I turned to get my robe and weapons when Connor whirled me round, his face full of rage. "You nearly sent me off that cliff face a second ago, why did you do that?" His tone was full of venom. Stupid sailor.
"Well, if I hadn't also saved you. You'd be dead!" I hissed back at him, shaking off his grip on my arm.
"Well whose fault is that?" Cheeky bastard!
"Yours, you're the one who wanted to spar here. I questioned the safety, you ignorant basta-" I snarled at him.
"Don't you dare..." He snapped at me, his eyes full of fury.
"A challenge? Fine," I turned putting on my robe and weapons belt, "bastard..."
Connor grabbed my arm yet again. His eye twitching with anger, I scowled at him.
"Let go of me..." He didn't move away, "Let go of me, Connor or I swear I wi-"
"Go on" He's such a bloody wind up.
"Do this!" I punched him square in the jaw, shaking his grip as I climbed the roof and stayed there. I didn't want to move, how can he think he's so superior. I've saved his life two times in the last few weeks. Stupid, ignorant, self-centred brute. I could hear him cursing me as he slammed the door, I can hear you! My mood soured as the afternoon turned to evening and my anger grew. Screw this, I hung from the roof and swung myself into my room resulting in a soft thud. Unfortunately, the brute was stood at my doorway; I glared.
"Came back for more, sailor?" I smirked, I noticed I spilt his lip. I withdrew my dagger, twirling it round my wrists whilst I waited for him to leave. He didn't budge. My feelings for this brute is so on, off; one minute he's sweet and I'm like a twelve year old girl gushing the next he's like a grizzly bear and it truly annoys me to death. He's the master of changing my emotion, stupid brute.
I sighed. He obviously wanted to talk, stupid brute. I pushed my dagger into its sheath as I looked up at him. "I guess you have something to say?" Might as well get this over with.
"Er, yes. About earlier... I believe our conflict was unnecessary so I came to resolve things" I raised my eyebrow, okay you're no longer stupid brute. You're just stupid now.
I waved my hand, gesturing him to continue. "I'm sorry for blaming you when you saved my life"
"You're welcome, I suppose I regret punching you and calling you a bastard" I gave him a weak smile, "Heat of the moment.."
"Well... erm" He stammered, how cute.
"Achilles told you to do that didn't he?" I had him sussed out.
"N-Yes.." He bowed his head. I stepped forward and ruffled his hair, his expression one of confusion. He had tensed...
"I knew it," I laughed "You tried. We're okay now right?" I looked at him.
"Of course"
And with that he closed the door behind him, I sit on the edge of my bed. Pushing my face into my hands I breathed heavily. What's wrong with me? I'm acting like some stupid little girl with a crush, on Connor. Of all people, just no. I'm not going to allow it, he doesn't like me in that way. He's just a polite man.. Focus on your work Rozalina!
I stood up, shredding off my robes and unhooking the weapon belt which hung around my waist. "Rozalina!" I could hear Achilles calling me, what did I do now? I exited my room and quickly looked over the banister.. I was greeted with Achilles stare, cue nervous laugh. I quickly made my way down the stairs and smiled at Achilles.
"You called for me, sir?"
"Have a cup of tea with me" It wasn't a question, it was a statement. I'm not sure how to react to this... He nudged me forward with his cane as I walked into the direction of the lounge. Achilles hobbled over to his armchair, his back popping as he groaned and sat down. I sat in the opposite armchair, instantly leaning forward and pouring him a cup of tea.
"How do you like your tea, sir?"
"Milk, no sugar. Thank you" I finished his tea, placing the warm cup into his hands. "You're probably wondering why I've asked you to come sit with me"
I balanced my elbows on my knees. "Yes, I'm curious"
"Well, I wanted to ask something of you. When you trained in Russia did you do any liberation missions?"
"Yes, I did. It was the main part of my training to overcome the Templars"
"Well I'm glad to hear. As you know, America is largely controlled by Templar. Connor may not admit it but he will need help liberating this country so with your experience I'd like you to help him"
"I'm sure I can be of service" I smiled. I haven't done liberation missions for so long, it'd be nice to do it again.
"Good, as of tomorrow you'll be accompanying him to Boston and New York for these missions"
"Very well, sir" I excused myself, heading up to my room shutting the door. I sunk down to the floor, my back sliding against the door. What am I going to do? Spending more time with Connor and trying to hide my infatuation with him isn't a good combination! Calm down, Rozalina... you only have a crush on him, it will pass as soon as another good looking guy walks past you. Yes, yes it will pass. I'm just being stupid.
I took off my blouse, keeping my bindings and trousers on before collapsing in bed. I quickly fell into the world of slumber.
8th July, 1776
I heard movement, footsteps drawing nearer to me. The creak of my door sounded in my ears as my eyes fluttered open. Connor stood by the doorway, a red blush against his cheeks as he tried to look anywhere but my way. What is with this guy? I looked down at myself. Oh... the sheet only covered from my hip bones down so all of my bindings and stomach were exposed.
"Oh Mother of Russia" I pulled the sheets under my chin and stared at Connor with wide eyes, a nervous laugh leaving my lips. No wonder he was blushing, I was unconsciously flashing him... I'm blushing too oh god wait, why is he in my room?
Connor cleared his throat, gaining my attention as he finally looked at me."Achilles told me to wake you, be ready in twenty minutes we're leaving for New York"
"Are we going to need camping equipment?" It'd probably be a long journey, a few days at least. We'd need to rest.
"Yes," He turned his back towards me, looking over his shoulder. "Be ready in twenty minutes"
Then he left. Good morning to you too, he's such a moody creature. I rolled my eyes, tossing the sheets away from my body. I quickly grabbed a blouse and washed up. I ran my hands over my face and through my hair, I huffed. I probably look like shit.. I groaned slipping into my robes, tying my weapons belt around my waist and buckling my blades on my forearms. I pulled my boots onto my feet, finishing my uniform with my assassin's sash around my hips. I quickly threw a roll of bandages, injury equipment, a few blouses and my canteen into a bag as I slung it over my shoulder. I closed my bedroom door and skipped down the stairs, entering the kitchen to find some supplies. I grabbed a loaf of bread from the counter and shoved it into my bag before reclosing it. I pushed my hand into my pocket, feeling my music box between my fingers. It calmed me as I breathed heavily and left through the front door.
I walked towards the stable, the sun warming my back as Connor and the horses came into sight. He stood patting one on the nose as it nuzzled him and made him smile, a beautiful smile that was filled with happiness. Stop it, Rozalina... Shadow also stood next to Connor, nodding his head happily. How perfect could this man get? Great with horses, muscles like boulders, those eyes and he was actually nice. Stop it, Rozalina. I mentally slapped myself as I whistled loudly behind Connor.
"Where we off to first then, Captain?" He turned at the sound of my voice.
"Boston"
I saddled up and looked towards Connor. Damn, this was going to be a tough trip.
I'm so sorry it's been so long since I last updated, had some writer's block. I know it's not a great chapter so I apologise. Thanks for your patience
